This manual provides operating and safety instructions for the Vollrath Mirage Induction Buffet Warmers. It covers both Standard Glass and Decorative Glass models in 16"x 16" and 16"x 23" sizes.
Safety Precautions

- Always plug into grounded electrical outlets matching the nameplate rated voltage.
- Persons with pacemakers should maintain a distance of 12" (30 cm) from operating units.
- Keep magnetic stripe items (credit cards, driver's licenses) away from the unit.
- Do not use if the heating surface is cracked or broken.
- Do not leave empty vessels on the unit.
- Use the equipment only in a flat, level position.
- Unplug and allow to cool before cleaning or moving.
- Do not touch the heating surface; it remains hot after being turned off.
- Unplug when not in use.
- Keep equipment and cords away from heat sources.
- Do not heat sealed cans or containers as they may explode.
- Do not operate unattended.
- Supervise operation in public areas and around children.
- Do not operate if damaged or malfunctioning.
- Do not place objects in air intake or exhaust panels.
Function and Purpose
This equipment is intended to hold heated prepared food at serving temperatures in commercial foodservice operations. It is designed for use with one induction-ready chafer or serving vessel.
Induction Ready Serving Vessel Requirements:
- Vessel base must be flat.
- Vessel base size must be:

- Material construction must be: ferrous stainless steel, iron, cast iron.
- Unsuitable serving vessels include those with bases less than 4 1/2" (11.4 cm), pottery, glass, aluminum, bronze, copper, or any vessel with a footed base.
FCC Statement
This equipment complies with Part 18 of FCC Rules. It generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy. If it causes harmful interference to radio or television reception, users are encouraged to try to correct the interference by reorienting the antenna, increasing separation, connecting to a different circuit, or consulting a dealer or technician.
Countertop Warmer Installation
Clearance and Environment Requirements:
- Ensure minimum clear space around the warmer, including space equal to the height of the feet underneath.
- Allow sufficient airflow; do not place on soft surfaces that restrict airflow.
- Maximum intake temperature should not exceed 104°F (40°C).
Installation Steps:
- Place the equipment on a hard, flat, stable surface.
- Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet matching the nameplate rated voltage.
Drop-in Warmer Installation
Before You Begin:
- Download the specification sheet from Vollrath.com for dimensions, clearance, venting, and power requirements.
- Verify proper electrical outlet availability.
- Do not modify the cord or plug.
- Consult countertop manufacturer's requirements for installation.
Prepare the Countertop and Cabinet:
- Cut required openings.
- Clean debris from cut-out areas.
- Reinforce countertop support as needed.
Mount the Drop-in:
Choose between 'Overhung' or 'Countersunk' installation.
Overhung Installation:
- Choose a flat, level countertop.
- Measure and mark the cutout area.
- Apply sealant to the cutout area to prevent moisture penetration.
- Secure the warmer to the countertop using the included brackets and screws on the SIDES only.
- Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
Countersunk Installation:
- Choose a flat, level countertop.
- Measure and mark the cutout area.
- Apply sealant to the cutout area to prevent moisture penetration.
- Secure the warmer to the countertop using the included brackets and screws on the SIDES only.
- Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
Mount the Control Box:
- Measure and mark the cutout for the control box.
- Apply sealant around the control box cutout.
- Secure the control box with the included nuts and screws.
- Connect the USB cable from the control box to the bottom of the warmer.
Operation
General Operation:
- Place a maximum of one induction-ready serving vessel containing food in the center of the warmer.
- Do not pre-heat empty serving vessels.
- Do not drop utensils or objects onto the heating surface.
- Press the POWER button to turn the unit on. The display shows the power level.
Suggested Power Level Settings:
Ideal power level depends on food density, serving temperature, etc. General guidelines are provided.
Using a Serving Vessel Directly:
- Place the vessel with food on the warmer.
- Select a power level to maintain serving temperature.
Using a Chafer:
- Fill chafer bath with hot water.
- Place chafer on the warmer.
- Select power level 4 to preheat water.
- Add food pan when water is hot.
- Adjust power level to maintain food temperature.
Turning Off the Warmer:
Press and hold the POWER button until the unit turns off.
Over Heat Protection:
If the heating surface becomes too hot, the warmer will stop heating. The power level LEDs will flash. See the Troubleshooting section.

Connecting the Warmers
Connect up to three warmers using the included interconnect cords. The center warmer must be connected to the electrical outlet.
16 x 16 Warmers
16 x 23 Warmers
- Plug one warmer into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Connect one end of the interconnect cable to the side of the warmer connected to the outlet.
- Connect the other end of the interconnect cable to the operator side of the second warmer.
- The warmer connected to the electrical supply must remain on to power interconnected units.
Cleaning
- Unplug the equipment and let it cool completely.
- Wipe the exterior with a clean, damp cloth.
- Do not use abrasive materials, scratching cleansers, or scouring pads.
- Do not spray controls or the exterior with liquids or cleaning agents.
- Wipe off any mild soap or chemical cleaner residue.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Might Be Caused By | Course of Action |

The Power Level LEDs are flashing. | Overheat-protection feature may have activated. | Remove the serving vessel. Let the equipment cool for approximately 15 minutes. The equipment will return to normal function once the overheat condition has cleared. |
The equipment suddenly stopped working. | Equipment may be too close to an external heat source, or the air intake may be restricted. | Relocate the equipment away from external heat sources. Clear any obstructions to the air intake. |
Service and Repair
Serviceable parts are available on Vollrath.com. Do not attempt to repair the unit or replace a damaged power cord yourself. Contact Vollrath Technical Services for instructions. Be prepared to provide item number, model number, serial number, and proof of purchase when contacting services.
Warranty Statement
This warranty does not apply to products purchased for personal, family, or household use. Vollrath Company LLC warrants products against defects in materials and workmanship as described in their full warranty statement. Warranty is effective from the date of original purchase. Damages from improper use, abuse, modification, or improper packaging during return shipment are not covered.
