1.3.1 Intended Use

The appliance is intended for heating domestic hot water and can supply several draw-off points. Any other use is inappropriate and may void the manufacturer's warranty. Observing these instructions is part of correct use.

1.3.2 Safety Precautions

Before proceeding with any installation, adjustment, alteration, or service, turn off all circuit breakers and disconnect switches servicing the appliance. Never remove the appliance's cover unless the electricity is turned off. Failure to do so could result in personal injury or death.

The appliance must be properly grounded. Failure to electrically ground the product could result in serious personal injury or death.

General Information

2.1 Introduction and Explanation

The units are designed to supply hot water for a house, apartment, or certain commercial applications. Unlike conventional storage water heaters, these tankless units heat water instantaneously as it flows through. They offer greater energy efficiency due to the absence of stand-by losses and reduced hot water pipe runs. Heat input is controlled electronically, delivering water temperatures between 68°F (20°C) and 140°F (60°C). The optimum temperature setting for efficiency and durability (scaling) is between 86°F (30°C) and 120°F (50°C).

ET011K/ET014K:

Installation

3.1 Installation Instructions

⚠️WARNING: High voltage electrical installations should be prioritized by professional electricians. Installation must comply with the National Electrical Code, local electrical and plumbing codes.

ℹ️NOTICE: Unit must be installed vertically with water fittings pointing downward.

⚠️WARNING: Do not install where it would routinely be splashed with water. Electric shock may result.

⚠️CAUTION: Hot water outlet pipes can be hot. Insulation is required for pipes below 36" (0.9 m) due to burn risk to children.

ℹ️NOTICE: Do not install where temperatures may be less than 36°F (2°C). Drain unit if freezing temperatures are possible. Failure to comply voids warranty. Locate unit where leakage will not cause damage; use a drain pan if necessary.

Guidelines You Need to Be Aware of

⚠️CAUTION: The water heater should not be located in an area where leakage will result in damage. Use a suitable catch pan, adequately drained, if such areas cannot be avoided.

3.2 Prepare for Installation

Parts included: Water Heater, User Manual, Assembly Kit, Mounting template.

Tools needed (Not included): Phillips screwdriver, Hammer, Hammer Drill with Concrete Bits, Ruler, Gloves, Pencil.

3.3 Installation Dimensions

ET011K/ET014K: Diagram shows unit with 0.5" (11 mm) clearance at top/bottom, 12.8" (325 mm) height, and 7.88" (200 mm) width.

ET018K/ET024K/ET027K: Diagram shows unit with 0.5" (11 mm) clearance at top/bottom, 14.7" (374 mm) height, and 11" (280 mm) width.

3.4 Installation Method

  1. Determine mounting location and mark 4 mounting holes on the wall according to the installation guide (Fig.1).
  2. Use a hammer drill with concrete bits to create 0.24" (6mm) diameter holes. Insert 4-M4 plastic wall anchors into the holes (Fig.2).
  3. Insert M4 screws into the two upper holes, leaving about 0.12-0.2 inches (3-5mm) not tightly fastened (Fig.3).
  4. Remove the four screws at the top and bottom, then open the front cover (Fig.4).
  5. For easier installation, carefully unplug the display connect wire from the water heater connector (Fig.5).
  6. Hang the unit on the two installed screws, secure the two lower screws, and tighten the two upper screws (Fig.6).

3.5 Water Connections

ℹ️NOTICE: Excessive heat from soldering on copper pipes near the unit may cause damage. The cold water connection must be disconnected periodically to clean the filter screen. Use easily detachable connections like braided steel flex connectors.

⚠️CAUTION: Hard water or water with a high mineral count may damage the unit. Damage caused by scale or high mineral count is not covered under warranty.

⚠️CAUTION: Tankless water heaters are not required to be equipped with a temperature and pressure relief valve (T&P). If required by an inspector, install it on the hot water outlet side.

3.6 Electrical Connection

⚠️WARNING: Electrocution

Before beginning any electrical work, ensure main breaker panel switches are "Off" to avoid electric shock. Complete all mounting and plumbing before electrical hook-up. Use a "ground fault interrupter" if required by local, state, or national electrical codes.

The unit must be properly grounded in accordance with state and local codes, or the national electric code/Canadian electric code. Failure to electrically ground the product could result in serious personal injury or death.

3.6.1 Circuit Layout

ET011K/ET014K: Diagram shows connections to Breaker A (L1, L2). These units can be connected to a single circuit using a supply cable protected by a double pole breaker.

⚠️WARNING: ET011K and ET014K must be connected to 1 set of 240V power. Each set power needs to be connected to a two-pole breaker. L1 & L2 lines must be connected to breaker A.

ET018K: Diagram shows connections to Breaker A (L1, L2) and Breaker B (L1', L2'). These units require two independent circuits, using two supply cables protected by two separate double pole breakers.

⚠️WARNING: ET018K must be connected to 2 sets of 240V power. Each set power needs to be connected to a two-pole breaker. L1 & L2 lines must be connected to breaker A, L1' & L2' must be connected to breaker B.

ET024K/ET027K: Diagram shows connections to Breaker A (L1, L2), Breaker B (L1', L2'), and Breaker C (L1", L2"). These units require three independent circuits, using three supply cables protected by three separate double pole breakers.

⚠️WARNING: ET024K and ET027K must be connected to 3 sets of 240V power. Each set power needs to be connected to a two-pole breaker. L1 & L2 lines must be connected to breaker A, L1' & L2' must be connected to breaker B, L1" & L2" must be connected to breaker C.

3.6.2 Circuit Connection

Refer to "2.3 Technical Parameters" for correct wire and circuit breaker size. Ensure the unit is properly grounded. Cut the electrical connection cable to length and strip. The wire must be fed through the Cord clamp. The "live" wires must be connected to the terminal block slots marked L1 and L2. The ground wire must be connected to the slot marked with the ground symbol.

3.6.3 Terminal Block

Consult the chart below for recommended torque amounts on terminal block screws.

Using proper torque specifications to secure wire to the wiring block helps avoid personal loss or property damage.

3.7 Commissioning the Water Heater

⚠️WARNING: Open the hot water faucet for a few minutes until water flow is continuous and all air is purged from water pipes. The unit's cover must be installed before the circuit breakers are turned on.

Operation

4.1 Operation Instructions

⚠️WARNING: Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.

⚠️WARNING: Minors are not allowed to operate the water heater themselves unless accompanied by a guardian.

Control Panel Elements:

Diagram shows: 1 Water flow signal, 2 Water is heating up, 3 Wifi icon (?), 4 Outlet water temp, 5 Fahrenheit (°F), 6 Celsius (°C), 7 Knob ([ON/OFF]).

Operation Steps:

  1. Turn on the circuit breaker to supply electrical power to the unit.
  2. Open the water faucet for a few minutes until the water flow is continuous and all air has been purged from the water pipes.
  3. After the device is powered on, there will be a "beep" sound, and the appliance enters standby mode.
  4. Press the [ON/OFF] button to start.
  5. Turning the knob clockwise increases the output water temperature. Turning the knob counter-clockwise decreases the output water temperature. Temperature range is 86 - 140°F (30 - 60°C).
  6. Press the knob for 3 seconds to change the display from Fahrenheit to Celsius or vice versa.

Maintenance

5 Maintenance

⚠️CAUTION: Do not attempt to repair this water heater yourself if it is not working properly. Call a technician for assistance. The power supply must always be shut off before performing maintenance.

To ensure consistent maximum performance:

Important Note:

  1. Any maintenance performed on the water heater unit may introduce air into plumbing pipes; it is important to purge all the air out before powering on again.
  2. If you have water supply with high mineral content (hard water), increase the frequency of your maintenance. Check the descale device regularly to see if it is functional.
  3. Do not use thinner, alcohol, petrol, or any other organic solutions to clean the unit. Use only a damp cloth with mild detergent.

Troubleshooting

6.1 Fault Assessment and Troubleshooting

6.2 Diagnostic Codes

Warranty Policy

What is covered

The Standard Limited Warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship when the product is installed and operated according to its written installation instructions. This warranty applies only to products installed correctly in the United States and Canada. Improper installation may void this Limited Warranty. It is recommended that this tankless water heater be installed by a licensed, state-qualified contractor trained on the supplier's products.

Limitation on warranties

During the Warranty Period, all repair parts must be genuine Westinghouse parts, and all repairs or replacements must be performed by a qualified professional. For manufacturing defects, Westinghouse will repair, replace, or refund the product at its sole discretion. Westinghouse does not authorize any person or company to assume obligations on its behalf. If repair is not possible, Westinghouse may replace the product with a comparable one. Warranty claims may be denied if the product is found to be free of defects, damaged by improper installation/use/operation, or damaged during return shipping. No other warranties are expressed or implied. Implied warranties are limited to the duration of this Limited Warranty. Westinghouse is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential damages, including lost profits, damage to person or property, loss of use, inconvenience, or liability arising from improper installation, service, or use. Some states do not allow limitations on incidental or consequential damages. This Limited Warranty grants specific legal rights, and other rights may vary by state.

How To Obtain Service

To make a warranty claim, contact Westinghouse Customer Service at support@tl.westinghouse.com, schedule a call, or use live chat on Westinghouse Whatsapp. Westinghouse determines whether a repair, replacement, or refund will be issued. Any return for refund must be approved by Customer Service before shipping. Refer to the "Returning Your Product for Repair or Refund Policy".

Within the first 30 days of purchase, Westinghouse covers ground shipping costs for warranty issues in the US and Canada (excluding AK, HI, and locations outside the continental US/Canada). After 30 days, the owner is responsible for all shipping to Westinghouse. Westinghouse covers warranty-related shipping costs when returning the product after repair/inspection.

Information needed for warranty claim:

All shipments require a Return Goods Authorization ("RGA") number. Contact Westinghouse to obtain an RGA number before shipping. Failure to do so may result in loss of product. Westinghouse is not responsible for replacement due to loss or damage if these steps are not followed. Returns must be in original packaging; missing components incur a 15% restock fee.

What Is Not Covered

  1. Repair, replacement, or refund will not be provided if the product is not properly installed and maintained according to the manuals and applicable laws/codes. Abuse, misuse, alteration, neglect, or misapplication voids this Limited Warranty.
  2. Damage caused by services performed by third-party service providers other than Westinghouse Systems.
  3. Expenses arising from labor services, including installation or removal services.
  4. Damage due to improper installation (sizing, length, elevation, condensation drainage, or inadequate airflow).
  5. Damage due to improper use (freezing, incorrect sizing, scale build-up, incorrect gas/water pressure).
  6. Use as a pool or spa heater (considered misuse, voids warranty).
  7. Damage by non-potable, untreated, or poorly treated well water, or water with high pH/hardness levels (>12 grains per gallon / 200 mg/L).
  8. Original serial number removed or altered.
  9. Increases in electricity costs for any reason.
  10. Default or delay in performance caused by factors outside Westinghouse's control.
