How to Brew a Perfect Pour-Over (For One Person)
- Heat Water: Heat water to 200°F–205°F (93.5°C–96.0°C).
- Weigh Coffee: Measure 20 grams of coffee using your preferred scale.
- Grind Coffee: Grind beans to a medium or medium-coarse consistency.
- Prepare Dripper: Place a filter in a pour-over dripper set on a carafe. Rinse the filter thoroughly with hot water to remove paper taste and preheat the dripper. Discard rinse water.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Add the ground coffee to the dripper, gently shake to level the bed, and place the setup on your scale.
- Start Stopwatch: Press and hold the Stagg EKG Pro's dial for two seconds to activate the brew stopwatch.
- Bloom Phase: Pour 40 grams of water, starting from the center and moving outwards. Wait 30-40 seconds for the coffee to "bloom" and release CO₂.
- Main Pour: Continue pouring evenly in a circular motion, moving from the center outwards and back inwards, until the scale reads 150 grams.
- Final Pour: Just before the grounds dry out, pour up to 250 grams, then finally to 320 grams, achieving an ideal 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio.
