Important Information
Please observe the following information to avoid personal injury, harm to others, or damage to this instrument or other external equipment.
Power Adapter
- Use only the specified DC adapter supplied with the product. An incorrect or faulty adapter can damage the electronic keyboard.
- Do not place the DC adapter or power cord near heat sources like radiators.
- To prevent damage to the power cord, ensure heavy objects are not placed on it and it is not subjected to stress or over-bending.
- Regularly check the power plug for surface dirt. Do not insert or unplug the power cord with wet hands.
Do Not Open the Body of the Electronic Keyboard
- Do not open the electronic keyboard or attempt to disassemble any part. If the device is not functioning correctly, stop using it and send it to a qualified service agent for repair.
Use of the Electronic Keyboard
- To avoid damaging the appearance or internal parts, do not place the keyboard in dusty environments, direct sunlight, or places with very high or very low temperatures.
- Do not place the keyboard on an uneven surface. To avoid damaging internal parts, do not place any liquid-filled vessels onto the keyboard as spillage may occur.
Maintenance
- Clean the body of the electronic keyboard only with a dry, soft cloth.
Connection
- To prevent damage to the speaker, adjust the volume of any peripheral device to the lowest setting before connecting. Gradually adjust the volume to an appropriate level once music is playing.
During Operation
- Do not use the keyboard at the loudest volume level for extended periods.
- Do not use headphones at loud volumes for long periods, as hearing damage could result.
- Do not place heavy objects onto the keyboard or press the keyboard with excessive force.
- Packaging should be opened by a responsible adult. Store or dispose of plastic packaging appropriately.

Display Screen

Preparation Before First Use
Power
Use of DC Power Adapter
Use the provided DC power adapter (9V DC output, 500mA output current, center positive plug). Connect the adapter plug to the DC 9V power socket on the keyboard's rear, and the other end to a mains wall socket. Switch on the power.
Caution: Unplug the power adapter from the mains socket when the keyboard is not in use.
Battery Operation
Open the battery lid on the underside of the keyboard using a Phillips head screwdriver. Insert 6 x 1.5V Size AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Replace the battery lid.
Caution: Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not leave batteries in the keyboard if it will not be used for a long time to avoid damage from leaking batteries.
Jacks and Accessories
Using Headphones
Connect the 3.5mm headphone plug into the [PHONES] jack on the rear of the keyboard. The internal speaker will automatically cut off when headphones are connected. Headphones are not included.
Connecting an Amplifier or Hi-Fi Equipment
The keyboard can be connected to an external amplifier or hi-fi equipment. Turn off power to both devices before connecting. Use a stereo audio cable (not included) to connect from the external equipment's LINE IN or AUX IN socket to the keyboard's [PHONES] jack.
Connecting a Phone or Audio Device to the AUX Input
Play music from your phone or mobile device through the keyboard's speakers. Insert one end of a stereo audio cable into the keyboard's AUX IN socket on the back and the other end into your phone or audio device. Ensure the keyboard is switched on. Use the phone's volume control for music volume. AUX in cable not included.
Connecting a Microphone
Connect a 3.5mm microphone plug into the [MIC] jack on the rear of the keyboard. The keyboard requires an electret or condenser microphone, which is not supplied.
Stand Assembly
(Applies to models RJ540-SK, RJ541-SK, RJ640-SK, RJ641-SK that include a keyboard stand)
Assemble the stand using the supplied screws and allen key. Secure the keyboard to the stand using the straps and screws connected to the top bars.
Keyboard Operation
Power and Volume
Power Control
Press the [POWER] button to turn the keyboard on or off. The screen display will light up when the power is on.
Adjustment of the Master Volume
The keyboard has 8 volume levels. Adjust the volume using the [VOLUME +/-] buttons. The screen display shows the current volume level. Pressing both [VOLUME +/-] buttons simultaneously resets the main volume to the default level 4. The main volume will revert to level 4 after power off and on. Note: Volume level 1 mutes the speaker output.
Tone
Tone Selection
When the keyboard is switched on, the default TONE is '000' Piano. To change the tone, press the [TONE] button, then enter the number code using the keypad (0-9). Tones can also be changed using the +/- buttons. Refer to Appendix III for a list of available tones.
Effect & Control
Split Keyboard
Press the [SPLIT] button to activate Split Keyboard mode. The keyboard divides into two sections at the 24th key from the left. The TONE of the right-hand side can be adjusted using the keypad (0-9). The TONE of the left-hand side remains as previously selected. In Split Keyboard mode, the pitch of the left-hand keys is raised by one octave, and the right-hand keys are lowered by one octave. Press the [SPLIT] button again to exit Split Keyboard mode.
Sustain
Touch the [SUSTAIN] button to enter Sustain mode, which prolongs the sound of each note. Touching [SUSTAIN] again turns the feature off.
Vibrato
Touch the [VIBRATO] button to enter Vibrato mode, adding a trembling effect to the end of each note. Touching [VIBRATO] again turns the feature off.
Transpose
Use the [TRANSPOSE +/-] buttons to alter the musical scale by up to 6 levels upwards or downwards. Pressing both [TRANSPOSE +/-] buttons simultaneously resets the musical scale to 00. The transpose level resets to 00 after power off and on.
Metronome
Touch the [METRO] button to activate the metronome (tick-tock beat). Four beats are available. Use the [TEMPO +/-] buttons to adjust the speed. Pressing [METRO] repeatedly cycles through beat patterns. The screen display indicates the chosen beat. The metronome effect is added to the music during playback. Press [METRO] repeatedly to stop the metronome.
Panel Percussion Instruments
Choose from 7 kinds of percussion instruments by pressing the corresponding button. These can be used to fill in and enhance performances.
Keyboard Percussion
When the [PERCUSSION] button is pressed, the keyboard keys will play percussion sounds. The screen indicates percussion mode. Play the keyboard accordingly. Touch [PERCUSSION] again to exit percussion mode. Refer to Appendix I for a table of percussion sounds.
Rhythm
Selecting the Rhythm
Choose from 350 built-in rhythms. Refer to Appendix II for the detailed rhythm table. Touch the [RHYTHM] button to enter rhythm selection. The screen displays the current rhythm number. Select a rhythm using the numerical keypad or +/- buttons.
Start / Stop
Touch the [START / STOP] button to play or stop the rhythm playback.
Sync
Touch the [SYNC] button to activate the sync accompaniment function. Pressing any of the first 19 keys on the left-hand side of the keyboard starts the rhythm. Touch [START / STOP] to stop the rhythm and exit sync function.
Fill in
Touch the [FILL IN] button during rhythm playback to insert an interlude. The rhythm will resume normally after the fill-in.
Accompaniment Volume Adjustment
Adjust Accompaniment Volume using the [ACCOMP VOLUME +/-] buttons. The screen shows the volume level (8 levels). Pressing both buttons simultaneously resets it to the default level 6. The Main Volume also affects accompaniment output. Accompaniment volume resets to default on power-on.
Tempo Adjustment
Use the [TEMPO +/-] buttons to adjust the tempo of rhythms, metronome, and demo songs (30-240 bpm). Press and hold [TEMPO +/-] for quick adjustment. Pressing both buttons simultaneously reverts tempo to the default for the selected rhythm. Tempo resets to 120 bpm on power-on.
Chord Accompaniment
Single Finger Chords
Touch the [SINGLE] button to activate single finger chord function. Chords are played by pressing keys in the chord area (left-hand side, keys 1-19). Finger patterns are shown in Appendix VI. Touch [START / STOP] to start or stop accompaniment. Press [SINGLE] again to exit.
Fingered Chords
Touch the [FINGERED] button to activate fingered chord function. Chords are played by pressing keys in the chord area (left-hand side, keys 1-19). Finger patterns are shown in Appendix VI. Touch [START / STOP] to start or stop accompaniment. Press [FINGERED] again to exit. No sound is produced unless correct finger patterns are formed.
Bass Chord
In fingered or single finger chord mode, press the [BASS] button repeatedly to select the desired chord tone. There are 7 bass chord tones. The bass chord tone resets to [00] after power off/on.
Chord Off
During any chord mode, press the [CHORD OFF] button to stop chord accompaniment sound and exit chord mode. The rhythm continues to play.
Recording Function
Touch the [REC] button to enter recording mode. Press any key to start recording. Maximum capacity is 46 individual notes. The screen shows [FL or FUL] when full. Touching [REC] again clears previous memory and enters recording mode. Note: The keyboard does not record notes pressed simultaneously (chords).
Rhythm Programming
Press the [PROG] button to activate Rhythm Program mode. Play the keyboard and record your percussion track (up to 32 beats). Touch [PLAY] to listen to your recorded percussion. You can play along with it. Adjust playback speed using [TEMPO +/-] buttons. Press [PROG] again to cancel programming mode.
Demo Songs
Touch [DEMO ONE] to play a demo song. Use the +/- buttons on the keypad to select a song. There are 50 demo songs. The keyboard will finish the song and replay it. Touch [DEMO ONE] again to exit demo mode or cycle to the next song. Refer to Appendix IV for a list of demo songs.
Touch [DEMO ALL] to play through all 50 demo songs sequentially. Touch [DEMO ALL] again to exit demo mode.
Teaching Modes
Beginner Course
Touch [TEACH 1] to enter Beginner Course teaching mode, suitable for beginners to familiarize themselves with rhythm and tempo. The screen shows the selected demo song number (00-49, refer to Appendix IV). Use the keypad or +/- keys to select a song. The screen indicates which key to press. Use provided key stickers to identify keys. The keyboard plays the main melody in time with key presses, even incorrect ones.
Intermediate Course
Press [TEACH 2] to enter Intermediate Course teaching mode, suitable for intermediate users. The screen shows the selected song number (00-49, refer to Appendix IV). Use the keypad or +/- keys to select a song. The screen indicates which key to press. Once the correct key is pressed, it moves to the next section. Use key stickers to identify keys.
Advanced Course
Press [TEACH 3] to enter Advanced Course teaching mode, suitable for advanced users. The screen shows the selected demo song number (00-49, refer to Appendix IV). Use the keypad or +/- keys to select a song. The screen indicates which key to press. Use key stickers and press specified keys as the main melody plays. The song continues even if an incorrect key is pressed.
Progressive Learning
- Follow this sequence to master songs:
- Listen to the song in DEMO mode to understand note timings and beat. Move to the next stage when confident.
- Access the same song in Beginner Course mode (TEACH 1) to duplicate note timings and key presses. Once mastered, move to Intermediate Course (TEACH 2), then Advanced Course (TEACH 3).

Appendix I. Percussion Instruments
Note: RJ540, RJ540-SK, RJ541, RJ541-SK models only have the first 54 percussion sounds.

Lists 50 demo songs with their titles, such as 'City of Sky', 'Fur Elise', 'Dream Wedding', 'Canon', 'My Heart Will Go On', 'Jingle Bells', 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', etc.
Appendix V. Troubleshooting
Provides solutions for common problems:
- Faint noise on power on/off: Normal.
- No sound when keys are pressed: Check master volume, ensure no headphones/equipment are plugged in, check fingered chord mode is not selected, ensure volume is not set to level 1 (Muted).
- Sound distorted/interrupted: Use correct power adapter or check batteries.
- Slight difference in timbre: Normal, due to voice sampling ranges.
- Sustain length varies: Normal, pre-set for different tones.
- Volume incorrect: Check main and accompaniment volumes are set correctly.
- SYNC status auto-accompaniment not working: Ensure Chord mode is selected and play a note from the left-hand side keys.
- Pitch incorrect: Check transpose setting is 00.
