Ishida Uni-7 Self-Serve Setup and Operation
Overview
The Uni-7 can be configured as a self-serve scale, enabling customers to weigh and label their own purchases. This process simplifies checkout by allowing clerks to scan a barcode instead of manually looking up PLUs and weighing items. In self-serve mode, operating the Uni-7 is streamlined to selecting a PLU and printing a label. PLUs can be recalled using their number or by category and preset keys.
Configuration
Set Sales Mode to Self-Serve
Access the Setup menu, navigate to 'Sales Mode', and set it to 'SELF-SERVE'. Power the scale off as instructed.
Accessing Menus Post-Configuration
After configuring the Uni-7 in Self-Serve mode, menus are accessed by entering the code
495344, then pressing 'MODE', followed by entering495344again, and pressing 'PLU'.Select Operation Type (Preset or Numeric)
In the Setup menu, go to 'Operation Setting', then the 'Self' tab. Choose 'Self Type' as either 'PRESET' or 'NUMERIC'.
- For 'NUMERIC' operation: The keys [7][8][9] correspond to 7, 8, 9 across the top row of the numeric keypad. Similarly, [1][2][3] correspond to 1, 2, 3 across the top row.
To enable text search, set 'Search Key' to 'USE'.
Configure Text Search
If text search is enabled, configure it to search the first two lines of all PLUs. Access the 'Call' tab, and set 'Find PLU' to 'LINE2'.
Operation – PLU Recall
Numeric 10-Key Operation
Recall a PLU by entering its number and pressing 'OK'.
Category & Presets Operation
Select a category by pressing its corresponding button. Then, select a PLU by pressing its button.
PLU Search
Press the green 'SEARCH' button to find PLUs by name. Type the desired description and press 'SEARCH' again. The search will include the first two lines of all PLU names, based on the configuration settings described in steps 2.3 and 2.4.
Operation – Label Print
Weighed Items
Place the item on the scale. Press the 'LABEL PRINT' button. Alternatively, press 'CANCEL' to return to the PLU selection screen.
Fixed Price/Weight Items
Press the 'LABEL PRINT' button. To return to the PLU selection screen, press 'CANCEL'. If purchasing more than one piece, enter the quantity using the numeric keys and press the 'PCS' field.
Notes
When the Uni-7 is configured in Self-Serve mode, menus are accessed by entering 495344, pressing 'MODE', then entering 495344 again, and pressing 'PLU'.
The updates in revision 4 of this guide are based on Uni-7 firmware B0674R.
