Note: Room relative humidity less than 80%. If operating above this, condensation may occur. Set airflow louver to maximum angle and HIGH fan mode.
To optimize performance:
- Keep doors and windows closed.
- Use TIMER ON and TIMER OFF functions to limit energy usage.
- Do not block air inlets or outlets.
- Regularly inspect and clean air filters.
Other features
- Default Setting: After power failure, the unit defaults to factory settings (AUTO mode, AUTO fan, 24°C/76°F). Use the remote control to update the status.
- Auto-Restart (some models): If power fails, the unit stops. Upon power restoration, the Operation light flashes. Press ON/OFF to restart. If auto-restart is enabled, it resumes previous settings.
- Three-minute protection feature (some models): Prevents activation for approximately 3 minutes after restarting.
- Louver Angle Memory Function (some models): Louver returns to previous position after power failure. Avoid setting the horizontal louver angle too small to prevent condensation. Press the manual button to reset.
- Refrigerant Leak Detection System (some models): The indoor unit displays "EC" or "ELOC" or flashes LEDs if refrigerant leakage is detected.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning Your Indoor Unit
Before Cleaning or Maintenance: ALWAYS TURN OFF THE AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM AND DISCONNECT ITS POWER SUPPLY.
CAUTION: Use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth dampened with warm water. Do not use chemicals, treated cloths, benzene, paint thinner, polishing powder, or other solvents. Do not use water hotter than 40°C (104°F) on the front panel, as it may deform or discolor.
Cleaning Your Air Filter
A clogged filter reduces efficiency and can be harmful to health. Clean the filter every two weeks.
WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE OR CLEAN THE FILTER YOURSELF. Removal and cleaning should be performed by a certified technician.
- Open the air intake using a screwdriver. Detach the grille at a 45° angle, lift slightly, and pull forward.
- Remove the air filter (for 3.2~10.5KW models).
- For 14~16KW models, pull the air filter from the air inlet.
- Remove the air filter.
- Clean the filter by vacuuming or washing in warm water with mild detergent.
- Rinse with clean water and air-dry. DO NOT dry in direct sunlight.
- Reinstall the filter.
Cleaning Filter Images:
- Image shows filter removal and cleaning methods (vacuuming or washing).
Maintenance – Long Periods of Non-Use
If not using the air conditioner for an extended period:
- Clean all filters.
- Turn on FAN function until the unit dries out completely.
- Turn off the unit and disconnect the power.
- Remove batteries from the remote control.
Maintenance – Pre-Season Inspection
Before periods of frequent use or after long periods of non-use:
- Check for damaged wires.
- Clean all filters.
- Check for leaks.
- Replace batteries.
- Ensure air inlets and outlets are not blocked.
CAUTION: Any maintenance or cleaning of the outdoor unit, or any unit repairs, should be performed by an authorized dealer or licensed service provider.
Troubleshooting
Safety Precautions
If any of the following occurs, turn off the unit immediately:
- Damaged or warm power cord.
- Burning odor.
- Loud or abnormal sounds.
- Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.
- Water or objects falling into/out of the unit.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX THESE YOURSELF! CONTACT AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE PROVIDER IMMEDIATELY!
Common Issues
Issue | Possible Causes |
---|---|
Unit does not turn on when pressing ON/OFF button | 3-minute protection feature active. Unit cannot restart within 3 minutes of being turned off. |
The unit changes from COOL/HEAT mode to FAN mode | Cooling/Heating Models: Operation light and PRE-DEF indicators lit mean outdoor temperature is too cold, activating anti-cold wind for defrost. Cooling-only Models: "Fan Only" indicator lit means outdoor temperature is too cold, activating anti-freeze protection for defrost. |
The indoor unit emits white mist | Unit may change settings to prevent frost. Operation resumes selected mode once temperature increases. Compressor turns off when set temperature is reached; resumes when temperature fluctuates. |
Both the indoor and outdoor units emit white mist | In humid regions, temperature difference can cause white mist. White mist emitted during HEAT mode restart after defrosting due to moisture. |
The indoor unit makes noises | Rushing air sound when louver resets. Squeaking sound when OFF or in COOL mode, or when drain pump operates. Squeaking sound after HEAT mode due to expansion/contraction of plastic parts. |
Both the indoor and outdoor unit make noises | Low hissing sound during operation (normal, refrigerant flow). Low hissing sound when starting, stopping, or defrosting (normal, refrigerant change). Squeaking sound (normal, expansion/contraction of parts). |
The outdoor unit makes noises | Unit makes different sounds based on operating mode. |
Dust is emitted from either the indoor or outdoor unit | Dust accumulation during non-use. Can be mitigated by covering the unit. |
The unit emits a bad odor | Unit may absorb environmental odors (cooking, cigarettes, etc.). Filters may be moldy and require cleaning. |
The fan of the outdoor unit does not operate | Fan speed is controlled to optimize operation. |
NOTE: If problems persist, contact a local dealer or customer service center with a detailed description of the malfunction and model number.
Troubleshooting - Poor Cooling Performance
Problem | Possible Causes | Solution |
---|---|---|
Poor Cooling Performance | Temperature setting higher than ambient room temperature | Lower the temperature setting. |
Dirty heat exchanger (indoor or outdoor unit) | Clean the affected heat exchanger. | |
Dirty air filter | Remove and clean the filter per instructions. | |
Blocked air inlet or outlet | Turn off unit, remove obstruction, turn back on. | |
Doors and windows are open | Ensure all doors and windows are closed during operation. | |
Excessive heat from sunlight / room sources | Close windows/curtains during bright sunshine. Reduce heat sources in the room. | |
Low refrigerant (leak or long-term use) | Check for leaks, re-seal if necessary, and top off refrigerant. |
Troubleshooting - Unit Not Working / Frequent Start/Stop
Problem | Possible Causes | Solution |
---|---|---|
The unit is not working | Power failure | Wait for power restoration. |
Power is turned off | Turn on the power. | |
Fuse is burned out | Replace the fuse. | |
Remote control batteries are dead | Replace batteries. | |
Unit's 3-minute protection activated | Wait three minutes after restarting. | |
The unit starts and stops frequently | Timer is activated | Turn timer off. |
Too much or too little refrigerant | Check for leaks and recharge system. | |
Incompressible gas or moisture in system | Evacuate and recharge system. | |
System circuit is blocked | Determine blockage and replace faulty component. | |
Compressor is broken | Replace the compressor. | |
Poor heating performance | Voltage too high or too low | Install a manostat to regulate voltage. |
Outdoor temperature is extremely low | Use auxiliary heating device. | |
Cold air entering through doors and windows | Ensure doors and windows are closed during use. | |
Low refrigerant (leak or long-term use) | Check for leaks, re-seal if necessary, and top off refrigerant. | |
Indicator lamps continue flashing / Error code appears | Unit may stop or continue running. If lamps flash or error codes appear, wait ~10 minutes. Problem may resolve itself. If not, disconnect power, reconnect, and turn on. If problem persists, contact customer service. |
NOTE: If problems persist after checks, turn off the unit immediately and contact an authorized service center.
