Day-Brite CFI INTELLISENSOR Smart Control
Microwave Motion Sensor (HCY-SENSOR)
Note: Sensor and remote control available separately as accessories. The sensor can only be configured via a remote controller.
Mechanical Structure
The sensor has a cylindrical form factor. Key dimensions include a diameter of approximately 2.2 inches (5.6 cm) and a height of 1.61 inches (4.1 cm). It is designed with a 1/2" NPT threaded conduit connection for mounting.
Wiring Diagram
The wiring diagram illustrates the connections for a 12VDC input. The terminals provided are: +12V, GND, DIM+, 0-10V, L (Line), N (Neutral). It also shows connections for the LED Driver, labeled as DIM+, DIM-, LED+, and LED-.
Important Information
Attention:
- Please read the instructions carefully before using this product and keep them for all users to read at any time.
- The sensor must be installed by a qualified electrician, ensuring the power is turned off before commencing installation.
- The manufacturer reserves the right to modify any incorrect text, images, and necessary technical parameters without prior notice.
- Any unauthorized modification is strictly forbidden; doing so will immediately invalidate all guarantees.
Installation Precautions
- When installing multiple sensors, ensure a minimum distance of 2.5 meters (approximately 8.2 feet) between each unit to prevent interference.
- To avoid microwave signal shielding and potential false triggering, do not place materials with high dielectric density, such as metal accessories or glass covers, directly in front of the sensor.
- Confirm that the microwave module is fully exposed to the exterior environment.
- Position the sensor module's detection surface to face the intended detection area.
- Keep the sensor away from the LED driver to prevent interference generation and potential lamp flashing.
- Install the sensor in locations free from ventilation ducts, fire-fighting ducts, drainage ducts, significant mechanical vibrations, or areas with large metal equipment.
Application Environment
- This sensor is suitable for indoor installations. Avoid placement where external factors like rain, wind, or tree movement could cause false triggering.
- Do not install in locations enclosed by four-sided metal shelters or in confined spaces, such as under a galvanized iron roof.
- Avoid installing near large operating machinery, such as ventilators or ceiling fans, as their vibrations or the resulting lamp shaking could lead to false triggering.
- Note that single-step movements of the human body might not trigger the sensor; it is designed to respond to continuous motion.

Detection Range and Mounting Height Guidance
The sensor's detection capability is influenced by mounting height and the speed of detected motion. Charts are provided in the original document to illustrate the 'Well Detected Area' and 'Possibly Detected Area' based on various mounting heights (in meters and feet) and horizontal distances from the sensor. For ceiling installations, the maximum detection range is specified as 14 meters (45.92 feet) when mounted at a height of up to 15 meters (49.2 feet).
Automatically ON/OFF Function
The sensor manages lighting automatically based on motion detection:
- Motion Detected: Upon detecting movement, the sensor activates the light, turning it ON.
- Hold Time: After motion is initially detected, the sensor maintains the light at 100% brightness for a pre-set duration known as 'Hold Time' (default is 1 minute).
- Stand-by: If no motion is detected during the 'Hold Time', the sensor will dim the light to a pre-set 'Stand-by Dim' level (default is 20%) for a duration called 'Stand-by Time' (default is 1 minute).
- OFF: If no motion is detected throughout the 'Stand-by Time', the sensor will automatically turn the light OFF.
User Notes
- Microwave signals can penetrate walls or glass if they are less than 20mm thick, but their strength will decrease (attenuate) if the material is thicker than 20mm.
- The voltage supplied to the LED driver should be stable, with fluctuations not exceeding 10%.
- The effective detection area can be affected by factors such as the speed of motion (e.g., a person walking versus a car driving), the mounting height of the sensor, and the overall volume of movement within the area.
- For accurate testing of light levels, perform tests on sunny days and ensure the lampshade is removed, as the lampshade can influence the measured lux value.
Installation of DC Motion Sensor
Follow these steps for the installation of the DC motion sensor:
- Carefully remove the sensor from its packaging.
- Before installation, remove the protective cover from the sensor's contact pins.
- If the lighting fixture is equipped with a sensor receptacle, use a screwdriver to unscrew the 1/2" knockout as indicated in the accompanying illustration.
- Securely screw the sensor kit onto the fixture.
- The sensor is pre-configured to a universal mode. Its settings can be adjusted and programmed using a compatible remote control, which is sold separately and not included in the standard package.
Diagram A points to the 1/2" knockout hole, and Diagram B illustrates the sensor kit being attached.
