3. Printer Setup Tool v1.0 for Windows Features
The Printer Setup Tool v1.0 for Windows simplifies Wi-Fi settings configuration and the installation of drivers and utilities.
3.1. Device discovery and selection
The tool displays a list of devices on the same network or within Wi-Fi Direct range. Wi-Fi Direct for Setup is enabled during initial setup or via the Wi-Fi Easy Setup menu.
A screenshot illustrates the "Device Selection" screen, showing detected printers.
After selecting a device, users proceed to the Wi-Fi Setup screen. For devices without Wi-Fi support, this screen is skipped to install drivers and utilities.
3.2. Wi-Fi initial setup
Users can perform initial Wi-Fi setup using a Wi-Fi connection, with different operations depending on whether Wi-Fi information from the host PC is used.
3.2.1. When using Wi-Fi information connected to the host PC
To connect the device to the same Wi-Fi network as the host PC, select "Yes" on the settings screen.
A screenshot shows the "Wi-Fi Setup" screen with a prompt to connect to the same Wi-Fi network as the computer.
3.2.2. When not using Wi-Fi information connected to the host PC
3.2.2.1. Auto Set (select from list)
If host PC Wi-Fi information is not used, a list of available Wi-Fi networks is retrieved from the selected device. Users can then select a network and enter the password.
Screenshots show the "Wi-Fi Setup" screen listing available networks and a password entry field.
3.2.2.2. Manual configuration (enter and configure required information)
If the desired Wi-Fi network is not listed, users can manually configure the connection by entering the Wi-Fi network name (SSID), Network Authentication, Encryption, and Password.
A screenshot shows the manual Wi-Fi setup screen with fields for SSID, authentication, encryption, and password.
3.2.3. Allow connections through device operations
After selecting a Wi-Fi network in Wi-Fi Easy Setup Mode, users must confirm changes on the device's panel. This step prevents unauthorized setup by third parties.
A screenshot shows a prompt on the device panel asking to allow Wi-Fi setting changes.
3.2.4. Restrictions when connecting multiple users
If multiple users attempt to connect simultaneously, subsequent users will receive an error. Only the first user to connect can proceed.
A screenshot shows an error message indicating the device failed to connect to Wi-Fi because it is being configured by another user.
3.2.5. Enter device username and password
If the device uses a wired or Wi-Fi network with non-default administrator credentials, users will need to enter the device administrator username and login password.
3.3. Installing recommended drivers and utilities
Users can install recommended drivers and utilities. The installation process displays information such as Device Name, IP address, Serial Number, and Host name.
