Introduction
This publication is designed to assist with the installation and maintenance of the LoadLifter 5000 series air spring kits. These kits utilize sturdy, reinforced, single or double convolute bellows, providing up to 5,000 pounds of load-leveling support with adjustable air pressure.
It is crucial to read and understand this entire guide before commencing installation or performing any maintenance, service, or repair. Pay close attention to hazard notations (DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION) to minimize the risk of personal injury or improper installation.
Kit Identification
The LoadLifter 5000 series kits (Standard, Ultimate, Ultimate Plus) can be identified by their roll plates and air lines. Refer to the visual guide within the document for distinguishing features.
Installation Overview
The installation process involves several key steps:
- Preparing the Vehicle: This includes raising the frame, supporting it with safety stands, and removing existing jounce bumpers.
- Assembling the Air Springs: Attaching roll plates and fittings to the air springs, and then connecting the upper and lower brackets.
- Installing the Air Spring Assemblies: Mounting the assembled units to the vehicle's frame, ensuring proper alignment with brake/ABS brackets.
- Installing the Air Lines: Routing nylon or braided stainless steel air lines from the air springs to the Schrader valves, ensuring proper clearance and securing them with zip ties.
- Finishing the Installation: Inflating the system, checking torque on bolts, and ensuring adequate clearance from exhaust components.
Maintenance and Use
Regular maintenance includes weekly air pressure checks and ensuring the system is maintained at normal ride height. Never exceed the maximum recommended air pressure of 100 PSI. For any air leaks, use a soapy water solution to identify the source before proceeding.
