Air Lift 25690 QuickShot On-Board Compressor Control System
Model Number: 25690
Manufacturer: Air Lift Company
System Overview
The Air Lift QuickShot system (P/N 25690) is an on-board compressor control system designed to monitor and adjust air springs. It includes a compressor, air tank, pressure switch, inflation valves, and associated air lines and fittings.
Figure 1 provides a schematic of the entire system, illustrating the connections between the air tank, compressor, pressure switch, inflation valves, and air springs.
Component Identification and Installation
Compressor: The compressor (Figure 2) is the unit that supplies air to the system. It is typically mounted to the vehicle's frame or body using mounting bolts, flat washers, star washers, and nuts.
Figure 2 shows the compressor and its mounting hardware, including a leader hose and air filter.
Panel Assembly: The panel assembly (Figures 3 & 4) houses the pressure gauge and inflation/deflation controls. The gauge displays air pressure in PSI and kg/cm², with controls for inflating (push up) and deflating (push down).
Figure 3 shows the pressure gauge and control switches. Figure 4 illustrates the air lines connecting the air tank to the air springs, routed through the panel assembly.
Air Tank: The air tank (Figure 6) stores compressed air. It is connected to the compressor and the air springs via air lines. Thread sealant should be applied to all threaded connections.
Figure 6 shows the air tank with connections for the fuse box, pressure switch, and air springs. It also emphasizes applying thread sealant.
Inflation Valves: These valves (Figure 7) are used to inflate the air springs. They are typically mounted to the vehicle's frame or bumper and connect to the air springs via air lines.
Figure 7 details the mounting of an inflation valve, showing the air line connection to the bellows and the use of flat, star, and rubber washers.
Air Line Installation: To install air lines, cut the excess air line squarely using a sharp knife or air line cutter. Insert the cut end into the self-locking fitting until a click is heard or felt. The air line should seat approximately 9/16 inches into the fitting.
Figure 5 illustrates the process of inserting the air line into the fitting.
Tuning the Air Pressure
Proper air pressure tuning ensures optimal vehicle performance, ride comfort, and stability. Consider these factors:
- Level Vehicle: If headlights are misaligned or the vehicle leans, adjust air pressure to level the vehicle. (See Figure 1 in original document for visual reference).
- Ride Comfort: A rough or harsh ride may indicate too much or too little pressure. Experiment with different pressures to find the best comfort. (See Figure 2 in original document for visual reference).
- Stability: Address issues like roll control, bounce, dive during braking, and sponginess by adjusting air pressure, often by increasing it. (See Figure 3 in original document for visual reference).
Guidelines for Adding Air
- Start with the vehicle level or slightly above.
- When in doubt, add air.
- For motorhomes, start with 50-100 PSI in the rear.
- If the front dives during braking, increase front air bag pressure.
- If air bags bottom out, increase pressure.
- Adjust pressure to find the best ride.
- If the vehicle rocks or rolls, adjust pressure to reduce movement.
- Maintain different pressures on each side if loads are uneven (up to 50 PSI difference is common).
Figures 4 and 5 in the original document illustrate 'Bottoming out', 'Unlevel', and 'Level' vehicle conditions.
