Chapter 1. Safety Instructions

Always follow these safety instructions when setting up and using the VS-PTC-200 Camera Controller:

  1. Use attachments only as recommended.
  2. Use the type of power source indicated on the Camera Controller. If you are not sure of the type of power available, consult your distributor or local electricity company for advice.
  3. Always take the following precautions when handling the plug. Failure to do so may result in sparks or fire:
    • Ensure the plug is free of dust before inserting it into a socket.
    • Ensure that the plug is inserted into the socket securely.
  4. Do not overload wall sockets, extension leads or multi-way plug boards as this may cause fire or electric shock.
  5. Do not place the Camera Controller where the cord can be stepped on as this may result in fraying or damage to the lead or the plug.
  6. Never allow liquid of any kind to spill into the Camera Controller.
  7. Except as specifically instructed in this User Manual, do not attempt to operate this product by yourself. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages and other hazards. Refer all servicing to licensed service personnel.
  8. Unplug the VS-PTC-200 during thunderstorms or if it is not going to be used for an extended period. Do not place the Camera Controller or remote control on top of vibrating equipment or heated objects such as a car, etc.
  9. Unplug the VS-PTC-200 from the wall outlet and refer servicing to licensed service personnel when the following situations happen:
    • If the power cable or plug becomes damaged or frayed.
    • If the Camera Controller is wet with liquid, rain or water.

Note: Using an incorrect battery type in the remote control may result in breakdown. Follow local instructions on how to dispose of used batteries.

Precautions

Warning: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture. If Camera Controller will not be used for an extended time, unplug it from the power socket.

Chapter 3. Setting Menu

Press [SETUP] on the remote control to enter the setting menu. The default values are indicated in bold and underlined.

Camera Setting Camera ID 1 ~ 255 Set camera ID. VISCA protocol only works with ID 1~7. (VISCA ID 1~7, PELCO D ID 8~255)
Protocol VISCA / PELCO-D Set communication protocol.
Baud Rate 9600 / 38400 Set baud rate. This must match the camera's baud rate.
Address 1 ~ 255 Set camera address. This must match the camera's ID.
Time Setting Set Time HH:MM:SS Set time in 24-hour format.
Time Display On / Off Set whether to display the time on the screen.
Volume Setting Off / 1~6 / Auto Adjust the volume of the controller's audio output (if applicable) or indicator tones.
Keyboard Light Off / 1~6 / Auto Set the backlight of the controller keys on or off, or to automatic.
Sleep Setting - Off Disable sleep mode.
60m Enter sleep mode after 60 minutes of inactivity.
30m Enter sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity.
10m Enter sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity.
5m / 1m / 30s Enter sleep mode after 5 minutes, 1 minute, or 30 seconds of inactivity.
Pin Setting - User Set the user PIN for basic access.
Admin Set the administrator PIN for advanced settings.
Joystick Calib Pan Left - Calibrate the joystick's leftward movement.
Pan Right - Calibrate the joystick's rightward movement.
Tilt Up - Calibrate the joystick's upward movement.
Tilt Down - Calibrate the joystick's downward movement.
Zoom Tele - Calibrate the joystick's zoom-in (tele) twist.
Zoom Wide - Calibrate the joystick's zoom-out (wide) twist.
Free State - Set the neutral position for the joystick. No operation needed, just confirm.
Speed Setting - High / Middle / Low Set the control speed sensitivity of the joystick.
Default Setting - Yes / No Restore the keyboard settings to factory defaults.
Information - - Displays related information for the control keyboard.

Warranty

Marshall Electronics warranties to the first consumer that this device will, under normal use, be free from defects in workmanship and materials, when received in its original container, for a period of three years from the purchase date. This warranty is extended to the first consumer only, and proof of purchase is necessary to honor the warranty. If there is no proof of purchase provided with a warranty claim, Marshall Electronics reserves the right not to honor the warranty set forth above. Therefore, labor and parts may be charged to the consumer. This warranty does not apply to the product exterior or cosmetics. Misuse, abnormal handling, alterations or modifications in design or construction void this warranty. No sales personnel of the seller or any other person is authorized to make any warranties other than those described above, or to extend the duration of any warranties on behalf of Marshall Electronics, beyond the time period described above.
