IMPORTANT: Dimensional specifications are for planning purposes only. Do not make any cutouts based on this information alone. Always refer to the Owner's Manual before selecting cabinetry, verifying electrical/gas connections, making cutouts, or beginning installation.
Location Requirements
Adherence to all governing codes and ordinances is essential. Ensure that the flow of combustion and ventilation air is not obstructed.
- The installer is responsible for complying with installation clearances specified on the model/serial/rating plate, typically located behind the oven door on the top right-hand side of the oven frame.
- The range should be positioned for convenient kitchen use.
- For recessed installations, the enclosure must completely cover the sides and rear of the range.
- All openings in the wall or floor where the range is installed must be sealed.
- Cabinet opening dimensions shown are minimum clearances and must be used.
- The anti-tip bracket must be installed according to the Owner's Manual.
- A grounded electrical supply is required. Refer to the "Electrical Requirements" section for details.
- A proper gas supply connection must be available. Refer to the "Gas Supply Requirements" section.
- Ensure the floor covering can withstand at least 200°F (93°C). If installing over carpeting, use an insulated pad or 1/4" (6.4 mm) plywood.
Cabinet Considerations: To avoid damage to cabinets, consult the home builder or cabinet manufacturer regarding material suitability for heat exposure (maximum allowable wood cabinet temperature is 194°F / 90°C).
Mobile Home Installation Requirements
Installation in a mobile home must comply with the Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standard, Title 24 CFR, Part 3280, or applicable standards like ANSI A225.1/NFPA 501A, and local codes. In Canada, follow CAN/CSA Z240.1 or local codes.
- The range must be secured to the floor during transit.
- A four-wire power supply cord or cable is required. Appliance wiring may need revision; see the Owner's Manual for "Electrical Connection - U.S.A. Only".
Cabinet Opening Dimensions
Specific cabinet opening dimensions are provided for standard countertop depths (25"), base cabinet depths (24"), and countertop heights (36").
IMPORTANT: If installing a range hood or microwave hood combination above the cooktop, follow the manufacturer's instructions for dimensional clearances above the cooktop surface.
NOTE: For slide-in cutouts, the oven door front may protrude beyond the base cabinet.
Slide-in Cutout vs. Freestanding Cutout: Detailed diagrams illustrate the required dimensions for both slide-in and freestanding installations, including clearances (A-L) for cabinets, walls, and gas/electrical connections. Specific measurements are provided for each dimension.
- Clearances: Minimum clearances are specified for side cabinets (F), countertop depth (M), and space between the cooktop and overhead cabinets (REMARK*).
- Shielding: For minimum cabinet bottom clearances, shielding with flame-retardant millboard and sheet metal (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or copper) may be required.
Electrical Requirements - U.S.A. Only
WARNING: Risk of electric shock. The range must be electrically grounded. Failure to do so can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.
- Ensure the electrical connection and wire size are adequate and conform to the National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) and all local codes. Contact the National Fire Protection Association for code standards.
- Do not use an extension cord.
- If the grounding conductor connection is in doubt, consult a qualified electrician. Do not modify the power supply cord plug.
- The range must be connected to the proper electrical voltage and frequency as specified on the model/serial/rating plate.
Electrical Connection:
- A circuit breaker is recommended.
- The range can be connected directly to a circuit breaker box using appropriate cable. Allow at least 6 ft (1.8m) of slack for servicing.
- A UL-listed conduit connector is required at each end of the power supply cable.
- Wire sizes and connections must conform to the range's rating.
- The range is equipped with a CSA International Certified Power Cord for a standard 14-50R wall receptacle. Ensure the receptacle is within reach.
Range Rating and Circuit Protection: A table details the power ratings (kW) for different voltage configurations (120/208 V and 120/240 V) and the specified amperage for the power supply cord kit and circuit protection (40 or 50 Ampere).
Electrical Requirements - Canada Only
WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Ground the range properly.
- Ensure electrical connections and wire size comply with CSA Standard C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1, and local codes. Contact the Canadian Standards Association for code standards.
- Consult a qualified electrician if unsure about grounding.
Range Rating and Circuit Protection: Similar to U.S. requirements, a table outlines power ratings and required amperage for Canadian installations.
- A circuit breaker is recommended.
- The range is equipped with a CSA International Certified Power Cord for a standard 14-50R wall receptacle.
Gas Supply Requirements
WARNING: Explosion Hazard. Use a new CSA International approved gas supply line and install a shut-off valve. Ensure all gas connections are tight.
- For propane, ensure gas pressure does not exceed 14" (36 cm) water column. Consult qualified personnel (licensed heating, gas company, or service personnel).
- Failure to comply can result in death, explosion, or fire.
- Observe all governing codes and ordinances. Installation must conform to the National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 (U.S.) or CSA B149.1 (Canada), or local codes if more stringent.
- Leak testing must be conducted per the Owner's Manual.
Type of Gas: The range is factory set for Natural Gas. Conversion to Propane Gas requires a qualified service technician. Check the model/serial rating plate for compatible gas types.
Gas Supply Line:
- Install a 3/4" (1.9 cm) rigid pipe gas supply line. For propane, 1/2" (1.3 cm) tubing may be used. Consult propane suppliers for specific material and size requirements.
- Do not use TEFLON®† tape; use pipe-joint compounds resistant to the gas used.
- A flexible metal appliance connector (CSA certified, 4-5 ft long, 1/2" or 3/4" I.D.) may be used if local codes permit.
- A 1/2" (1.3 cm) male pipe thread is needed for connection to the appliance pressure regulator.
- Do not kink or damage the flexible metal tubing.
- Install a manual gas line shut-off valve in an easily accessible location.
Gas Pressure Regulator: Use the supplied regulator. Specified inlet pressures are: Natural Gas: 5"-14" WCP; Propane Gas: 11"-14" WCP. Consult your local gas supplier if unsure.
Burner Input Requirements: Ratings are shown for elevations up to 2,000 ft (609.6 m). For higher elevations, reduce ratings by 4% per 1,000 ft (304.8 m).
Gas Supply Pressure Testing: Test pressure must be at least 1" (2.5 cm) water column above the manifold pressure. Specific procedures apply for testing above or at/below 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa).
