This document provides detailed instructions for assembling the IKEA MALM high bed frame. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning assembly.

Assembly Steps
Step 1: Prepare Base Panels
Lay out the base panels on a soft surface to prevent scratching. Insert 6x dowels (122628) into the pre-drilled holes on the base panels.
Step 2: Assemble Side Panels
Insert 8x dowels (123491) into the side panels. Attach cam locks (113453) to the corresponding holes. Ensure correct orientation; do not force. ❌
Step 3: Prepare Headboard/Footboard Components
Insert 4x dowels (101359) into the headboard/footboard components. Ensure you are using the correct dowel type (101359) and not the incorrect type (101367). ❌
Step 4: Attach Cam Lock Housings
Attach 4x cam lock housings (114670) to the side panels. Use the Allen key (100049) to secure them with cam locks.
Step 5: Insert Main Frame Dowels
Insert 5x dowels (101367) into the main frame components.
Step 6: Connect Base Frame
Connect the base frame to the headboard/footboard components using 4x screws (114334) and the tool (113453).
Step 7: Attach Headboard Brackets
Attach 4x brackets (122998) to the headboard using 4x nuts (114254) and the provided tool.
Step 8: Attach Drawer Mounting Plates (Side 1)
Attach 2x mounting plates (114290) and 2x mounting plates (114291) to the inner side of the bed frame. Secure using 16x screws (110789).
Step 9: Attach Drawer Mounting Plates (Side 2)
Attach 2x mounting plates (114290) and 2x mounting plates (114291) to the other inner side of the bed frame. Secure using 2x screws (110789) and 2x brackets (116791).
Step 10: Install Support Beam
Insert the support beam (117228) into the center of the frame. Secure it using 4x screws (117327).
Step 11: Secure Frame
Further secure the bed frame by attaching 4x screws (117327) into designated holes.
Step 12: Insert Side Support Rails
Slide the side support rails into place, indicated by arrows [arrow pointing right].
Step 13: Install Bed Slats
Place the bed slats onto the frame. Ensure correct orientation. ❌ Do not use incorrect slat types (e.g., 105163, 10075106). Attach 8x slat holders (10096286) using 8x screws (105163) to the side rails. Attach another 8x slat holders (10096286) using 8x screws (105163) to the headboard and footboard ends.
Step 14: Attach Base Metal Strips
Attach 6x metal strips (10075106) to the base frame.
Step 15: Attach More Base Metal Strips
Attach 3x metal strips (10075106) to the base frame. Secure using 3x screws (110789) and 3x parts (105163).
Step 16: Final Slat Holder Attachment
Attach the remaining 4x slat holders (10096286) to the side rails.
Final Check
Your IKEA MALM high bed frame is now assembled. Ensure all screws are tightened and the frame is stable. Refer to the MALM product information for care and maintenance.
