Signia Motion C&G PIX Quick Start Guide
Your guide to using and maintaining your Signia hearing aids.
1. Hearing Aid Components
Identify the parts of your hearing aid:
- 1 Ear piece: The part that fits into the ear canal.
- 2 Tube (ThinTube): Connects the earpiece to the hearing aid body.
- 3 Microphone openings: Where sound enters the hearing aid.
- 4 LED: Indicator light for status information.
- 5 Rocker switch: Control for power, volume, and program changes.
- 6 Charging contact: Connects to the charger for power.
- 7 Earhook: Curved piece that sits over the ear (if applicable).
- 8 Side indicator, serial number, and performance level: Markings on the hearing aid body.
Note: The diagram shows a hearing aid with numbered components.
2. Turning Your Hearing Aids On or Off
Via the Charger:
The charger must be connected to a power supply. Refer to the charger's user guide.
- Turning On: Remove hearing aids from the charger. A startup melody plays, and LEDs light up for 6 seconds. Default volume and program are set.
- Turning Off: Place hearing aids in the charger (charger must be connected to power).
Via the Rocker Switch:
- Turning On: Press and hold the lower part of the rocker switch until the startup melody plays and LEDs light up. Release when melody and lights are active.
- Turning Off: Press and hold the lower part of the rocker switch for several seconds until a power-off melody plays and LEDs blink. The hearing aids turn off when LEDs stop blinking.
LED Status:
The LED provides status information:
- LED glows for 6 seconds: Hearing aid is switching on (when removed from charger or switched on via rocker).
- LED blinks for 3 seconds: Hearing aid is switching off (only when switched off via rocker).
3. Inserting Your Hearing Aids
Your hearing aids are tuned for the right and left ear. Colored markers indicate side:
- Red marker: Right ear
- Blue marker: Left ear
Hearing aids have an eartip, sleeve, or earmold. Ensure the bend of a sleeve aligns with the tubing's bend for optimal fit.
Insertion Steps:
- Hold the tube near the earpiece. Carefully insert the earpiece into the ear canal. Twist slightly for a good fit. Open and close your mouth to prevent air buildup.
- Lift the hearing aid and slide it over the top of your ear.
- If a retention strand is attached, bend it and position it into the bottom of the ear bowl.
Tip for Insertion: If difficulty is encountered, gently pull the earlobe downwards with the other hand to open the ear canal.
Note: The diagram shows numbered steps for insertion and a diagram of the hearing aid placement.
4. Removing Your Hearing Aid
- Lift the hearing aid and slide it over the top of your ear.
- Hold the tubing near the earpiece and carefully pull the earpiece out.
5. User Controls and Hearing Aid Adjustments
Your Hearing Care Professional can detail your hearing aid's controls and available adjustments. They can configure the rocker switch for volume, hearing programs, and other settings.
- Hearing aids automatically adjust volume and sound to your listening situation. An optional signal may indicate volume changes. A tone may sound at maximum/minimum volume. The rocker switch can also change hearing programs.
- The miniPocket remote control can adjust volume and programs.
- The Signia app allows changes to volume, programs, and other settings. Download from the [App Store logo] or [Google Play logo].
Note: The diagram shows volume up/down symbols.
6. Charging Your Hearing Aids
Refer to your charger's user guide for detailed instructions.
- Clean hearing aid charging contacts before placing them in the charger (see Section 8).
- Place hearing aids in the charger.
- A full charge takes approximately 4 hours. 30 minutes of charging provides up to 6 hours of use. Charging times may vary.
- Overnight charging is recommended for a full day's use.
7. Low Power Indication
- An alert signal indicates low battery.
- The signal repeats every 15-30 minutes until the hearing aid stops working.
- With the low battery indicator, approximately 1.5 hours of charge remain, depending on usage.
8. Hearing Aid Maintenance and Care
Consult your Hearing Care Professional for assistance with maintenance. They can recommend cleaning products, drying products, and care sets.
Cleaning Hearing Aids:
- Hearing aids have a protective coating; regular cleaning prevents damage.
- Use a soft, dry tissue or recommended cleaning tools/solutions.
- Clean hearing aids, charging contacts, and eartips/sleeves/earmolds DAILY after removal to prevent earwax buildup.
- Earwax on charging contacts hinders charging.
- Earwax on eartips/sleeves can affect sound quality.
- Be careful not to damage wax protection during cleaning.
- Never apply pressure while cleaning.
- Never use running water or immerse hearing aids in water.
- Do not use alcoholic solvent on charging contacts.
- For hearing aids with an earhook: Clean earpieces daily. Ask your Hearing Care Professional to clean tubes or replace earpieces/tubes as needed.
Cleaning Charger:
- Disconnect the charger from the power supply.
- Clean the charger with a soft, dry tissue.
- Remove debris from charging contacts to ensure proper charging.
- Never use running water or immerse the charger in water.
Drying:
Ask your Hearing Care Professional for recommended drying products and instructions.
Storage:
Short-term storage (up to several days):
- Turn off hearing aids via the rocker switch or place them in a powered charger.
- If the charger is not powered, hearing aids do not turn off when placed inside.
- If turned off via remote or app, hearing aids are in standby mode and consume power.
Long-term storage (weeks, months, longer):
- Fully charge hearing aids, turn them off via the rocker switch, and store them with recommended drying products.
- Recharge hearing aids every 3 months to prevent power cell damage.
- At 6-month intervals, ensure hearing aids are charged to avoid unrecoverable deep discharge of the power cell.
9. Replacing Eartip and Sleeves
If your hearing aid uses a ThinTube with eartip/sleeve, replace them approximately every 3 months or sooner if damaged. Clean earpieces daily and tubes as needed with a soft dry cloth. Never use running water or immerse them.
Follow the diagram to remove the old eartip/sleeve.
- Ensure the new eartip/sleeve fully covers the tubing's retention rings.
- Check for a firm fit of the new eartip/sleeve.
Note: The diagram shows numbered steps for eartip/sleeve replacement.
10. Exchanging ThinTubes
If applicable for your hearing aids:
- Unscrew the used tube from the hearing aid.
- Screw on the new tube.
Note: The diagram shows numbered steps for tube exchange.
11. Replacing Your Wax Protection
Wax protection needs regular changing. Follow these steps:
- If applicable, remove eartip or sleeve.
- Pull the Application Stick out of its package.
- Insert the black side of the stick into the white end of the tubing.
- Pull the stick straight out (white tip should be on the stick).
- Flip the stick around.
- Insert the stick into the end of the tubing again.
- Pull the stick out (white tip should remain in the receiver).
- If applicable, place eartip or sleeve back onto the tubing.
Note: The diagram shows numbered steps for wax protection replacement.
