Yakima K1204 Fitting Kit Instructions

Product Overview

This document provides instructions for installing the Yakima K1204 fitting kit for the Peugeot 2008, 5-door SUV, models from 2020 onwards. Always refer to the website for the latest version of instructions.

Maximum Load Capacity: 60 kg (132 lb) for various regions including EU, NZ, ZA, AU.

The kit includes the necessary components for attaching Yakima roof racks to your vehicle. The following fitting types are supported: Flush (F), Through (T), Heavy Duty (HD), Standard (S), and Trim HD (THD).

Included Components:

• 4 x Main fitting brackets (Part A955)
• 4 x Secondary fitting brackets
• 1 x Allen key
• 8 x M6 x 12 mm bolts
• 4 x M6 x 35 mm bolts
• 4 x Locking knobs
• 4 x M6 x 10 mm bolts
• 4 x Washers
• 4 x Adhesive pads

Installation Steps

Follow these steps carefully for correct installation. Ensure all parts are present before starting.

1. Step 1: Prepare the Footings
   • For Flush (F) and Through (T) bars, insert the appropriate fitting into the bar end.
   • For HD, S, and THD bars, follow the specific fitting instructions shown.
2. Step 2: Attach the Fitting Kit to the Bar
   • For HD/S and THD bars, ensure the correct orientation as indicated.
   • For F/T bars, slide the rubber strip into the bar channel.
   • Attach the main fitting bracket (A955) to the roof bar using the provided M6 x 10 mm bolts (x4) and tighten with the Allen key.
3. Step 3: Install the Bracket onto the Vehicle
   • Insert the main bracket assembly into the designated mounting point on the vehicle's roof.
   • Secure the bracket using the M6 x 12 mm bolts (x8) and the Allen key. Ensure correct alignment.
4. Step 4: Secure the Bar to the Bracket
   • Place the roof bar onto the installed bracket.
   • Use the M6 x 35 mm bolts (x4) to secure the bar to the bracket. Tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) using the Allen key.
5. Step 5: Attach the End Caps
   • Slide the end caps onto the ends of the roof bars.
   • Ensure the end caps are correctly oriented for the specific bar type (F, T, HD, S, THD).
6. Step 6: Final Tightening and Locking
   • Use the locking knobs to secure the roof bar to the vehicle. Tighten to 1 Nm (9 lb-in).
   • Apply the adhesive pads to the designated areas on the brackets for a secure fit.
   • Check the alignment and security of all fittings.
7. Step 7: Apply Locking Mechanism
   • Insert the lock cylinders and turn the key to lock the system.
   • Ensure the lock is fully engaged.

Important Notes:

• Always check that the roof bars are securely fastened before driving.
• Refer to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications for maximum roof load capacity.
• The torque settings are critical for safety. Use a torque wrench if available.
• The diagram shows the correct and incorrect methods for fitting. Ensure the smiley face icon with a checkmark is visible for correct installation.
