Powering the radio

The WFR-28BT can be powered using the power adapter or by using 4 x D size batteries.

Battery operation

  2. Ensure the battery switch inside the compartment is set to the correct position (Alkaline or NiMH).
  3. Insert 4 x D size batteries with correct polarity as shown inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover by pushing it back into place.

Note: Reduced power, distortion, or a "stuttering sound", or a red battery indicator are signs that batteries need replacement or recharging.

AC operation

Before connecting the power adapter, ensure the wall socket voltage is within the supported range (100-240V ~ 50/60 Hz). Connect the adapter to the radio first, then plug it into the wall socket.

Charging the batteries

Use rechargeable NiMH batteries and ensure the battery switch is set to NiMH. After inserting batteries, connect the radio to a wall socket. The battery indicator blinks green while charging and is solid green when fully charged. Fully charging takes approximately 6 hours, but may vary by battery capacity. The battery indicator turns red and the display shows "Low Battery" when batteries are low. A blinking red indicator signifies a charging error. In Standby mode, a white battery icon with a red "X" indicates a faulty battery.
