Ninja Woodfire Pro Connect XL Electric BBQ Grill & Smoker Quick Start Guide

Using Ninja Woodfire Pellets

This grill is designed for use exclusively with Ninja Woodfire Pellets to create rich, authentic smoky flavours. The integrated smoker box and specially designed pellets work together. Use pellets for flavour, not as fuel; only 1 scoop is needed per cooking session.

Compatibility: Only Ninja Woodfire Pellets are compatible with the Ninja Woodfire Pro Connect XL Electric BBQ Grill & Smoker.

Pellet Features:

  • 100% Real Wood - No Fillers: Each pellet is a combination of premium hardwoods at the perfect ratio for optimal flavour.
  • Premium Quality for Best Smoke: High density and low moisture wood pellets create professional-grade smoke.
  • Consistent Flavour: Pellet size and shape provide optimal airflow and consistent smoky flavour.

Ninja Woodfire Flavour Scale:

For best results, performance, and flavour, Ninja suggests using Ninja Woodfire Pellets. Other brands may cause ignition issues and unsatisfactory results.

  • MILD: Balanced, mild, bright, sweet flavour.
  • ROBUST: Rich, classic BBQ flavour.

No matter which blend you choose, our pellets can be used with anything you make.

Cleaning Instructions

The grill should be cleaned thoroughly after each use. Always let the grill and accessories cool before cleaning.

  • Allow the unit and accessories to cool before moving or removing them.
  • Remove the grill plate and crisper basket (if used) after each use and hand-wash in warm, soapy water.
  • Remove the built-in probe (if used) and wipe it down with a damp cloth. Note: Built-in probes and holders are hand-wash only and should never be immersed in water or any other liquid.
  • Remove the smoker box and safely discard its contents after each use.
  • Cleaning the smoker box itself is not required after every use. Use a wire brush to remove build-up approximately every 10 uses. Note: Do not use liquid cleaning solution on the smoker box.
  • Carefully remove the cooled grease tray from the back of the unit, safely discard the cooled grease contents, and wash the tray in warm, soapy water.
  • Wipe down the inner lid with a damp towel or cloth after each use to deodorise the unit.

For further cleaning instructions, refer to the Instruction Booklet.

Ninja Pro Connect App & Connectivity

Download the Ninja Pro Connect app to take the guesswork out of outdoor cooking.

  1. Download the Ninja Pro Connect app by scanning the QR codes provided (on the physical document) or by searching for it in your app store.
  2. Open the app and follow the on-screen directions to pair your phone with your grill.

IMPORTANT BEFORE PAIRING: Ensure your phone has Bluetooth turned on and is connected to a 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi network, not a 5-GHz network. For more information on network bands, see the "Can't Pair with Your Grill?" section.

Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your grill:

  1. Place the grill on a stable, flat, and level surface outdoors.
  2. Plug the grill into an electrical socket. Switch the socket on, test and reset the RCD plug. Flip the ON/OFF switch at the back of the unit.
  3. Install the grill plate and grease tray. If using the AIR FRY or DEHYDRATE function, install the crisper basket on top of the grill plate.

If Using an Extension Cord: Use only outdoor-rated extension cords. Cords longer than 15 meters are not recommended.

If Using Ninja Woodfire Technology:

  1. Pull the smoker box open and ensure the removable pellet box is installed.
  2. Fill the pellet scoop to the top with Ninja Woodfire Pellets.
  3. Pour the pellets into the smoker box until filled to the top. The self-igniting smoker box requires only 1 scoop of pellets.

Using the Smart Probe

Follow these steps to use the Smart Probe:

Step 1: Setup

  • Select your desired cooking function and press the WOODFIRE FLAVOUR button, if applicable.
  • Plug the probe into the top socket labeled "1" on the left side of the control panel.
  • If using a second probe, plug it into the bottom socket labeled "2". (A second probe can be purchased separately).

Step 2: Programming

  • Press the PROBE button. The Probe 1 icon will flash, indicating it's ready to program.
  • Turn the dial clockwise to select a preset protein or cook level, or to manually set the temperature. Press the dial to confirm your selection.
  • If using a second probe, press the PROBE button again. The Probe 2 icon will flash. Repeat the previous steps to program the second probe.

Step 3: Start

  • Press the START/STOP button to begin preheating.

Did You Know? Protein Keeps Cooking When You Remove It From The Grill. Carry-over cooking is when food retains heat and continues to cook after being removed from the heat source. After removing your protein, allow it to carry-over cook and rest until it reaches the final internal temperature (about 3-5 minutes).

Probe Placement Guide:

FOOD TYPE:PLACEMENTCORRECTINCORRECT
Steaks, Pork chops, Lamb chops, Burgers, Tenderloins, Fish filletsInsert probe horizontally into the centre of the thickest part of the meat. Make sure the probe is close to (but not touching) the bone and away from any fat or gristle. Ensure the tip is inserted straight into the centre of the meat, not angled toward the bottom or top. For fish fillets, the tip must be in the thickest part of the fillet.[Correct Probe Placement Diagram Description: Probe inserted horizontally into the thickest part of meat, avoiding bone and fat.][Incorrect Probe Placement Diagram Description: Probe angled or not in the thickest part.]
Whole chickenInsert probe horizontally into the thickest part of the breast, parallel to (but not touching) the bone. Ensure the tip reaches the centre of the thickest part of the breast and does not go all the way through into the cavity.[Correct Probe Placement Diagram Description: Probe inserted horizontally into the thickest part of the chicken breast, parallel to the bone.][Incorrect Probe Placement Diagram Description: Probe not in the thickest part or going through the breast.]

Note: Do not use the probe with frozen protein or cuts of meat thinner than 1.5cm.

For further probe instructions, refer to the Instructions or Ninja Pro Connect app.

Can't Pair With Your Grill?

Follow these troubleshooting steps if you are having trouble pairing your grill:

  1. Check Wi-Fi Network: Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi network within range of the grill. 5-GHz networks or out-of-range networks will not be recognized. Ninja Connected grills only pair over 2.4-GHz networks. If you have both 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz network options with the same name, this can cause issues; consider separating them or using a dedicated 2.4-GHz router. Contact your internet service provider if unsure about your network bands.
  2. Restart Your Phone: Turn off your phone, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on and reconnect to Wi-Fi.
  3. Reboot Your Grill: Ensure the grill is powered ON. Press the power button to turn the grill OFF. Unplug the grill from the socket, plug it back in, reset the RCD, flip the switch on the back of the unit, and then turn it ON using the power button on the control panel.
  4. Reboot Your Router: Unplug your router cable for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Allow several minutes for your router to reboot completely.
