This document provides instructions for the Cat Mate C300 Automatic Pet Feeder with Digital Timer. It is designed for use with pets only.

Components and Controls
Components (Refer to Fig. 1):
- A. Feeder lid
- B. Food bowl (B1 indicates a specific part of the bowl)
- C. Ice pack
- D. Base unit (D1 indicates a specific part of the base)
- E. Battery cover
- F. Retaining clips (x 2)
LCD Display / Buttons (Refer to Fig. 2):
- 1. ADJ/SET button: Used for adjusting and saving settings.
- 2. Low battery indicator: Alerts when batteries need replacement.
- 3. Clock display: Shows the current time.
- 4. AM/PM indicators: Display time in 12-hour format (morning/afternoon).
- 5, 6. MEAL 1-2 indicators: Show programmed feeding times.
- 7. UP arrow button: Used to increase values or navigate upwards.
- 8. DOWN arrow button: Used to decrease values or navigate downwards.

Setup and Operation
1. Battery Installation / Bowl Alignment:
- Remove the feeder lid by pressing down and pushing the side clips (Fig. 3).
- Lift the food bowl from the base.
- Remove the battery cover by releasing the retaining clip (Fig. 4).
- Insert 3 x AA batteries, observing the orientation symbols. Replace the battery cover.
- After a brief self-test, the clock display will show 12:00 AM with meal indicators showing '--:--'.
- If the lid and bowl are not aligned correctly, remove the lid and press the ADJ/SET and UP buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to align them.
- Good quality alkaline batteries typically last about 12 months. Other battery types may affect the low battery indicator.
2. Setting the Clock:
- To switch between 24-hour and 12-hour (AM/PM) formats, press and hold the ADJ/SET button with the DOWN arrow button.
- If no button is pressed for 30 seconds during setting, adjustments will revert to default.
- To set the clock: Use UP/DOWN arrows to highlight the clock display. Press and hold ADJ/SET for 5 seconds until hours flash. Adjust hours with UP/DOWN arrows. Press ADJ/SET. Minutes will flash. Adjust minutes with UP/DOWN arrows. Press ADJ/SET to save.
3. Meal Time Setting:
- The feeder automatically serves meals at the programmed times daily.
- Set MEAL 1 for one daily feeding (can cover up to 2 days). Set MEAL 2 for a second daily feeding.
- Meal times will sort chronologically on the display.
- Example: If current time is 15:00, the next meal will be served at 17:00.
- To set MEAL 1: Move highlight to MEAL 1. Press and hold ADJ/SET for 3 seconds until hours flash. Adjust hours with UP/DOWN. Press ADJ/SET. Minutes flash. Adjust minutes with UP/DOWN. Press ADJ/SET to save.
- Meal times can only be set in 10-minute increments.
- Repeat for MEAL 2 if needed.
- To cancel a meal time: Highlight the meal, press and hold ADJ/SET until it flashes, then press UP and DOWN arrows together until the time disappears (--:--).
4. Testing Your C300 Feeder:
- Fill the required number of bowls, starting clockwise from '1'. Bowl '0' is for an immediate meal. Do not overfill bowls to prevent fouling the rotating lid.
- Insert the pre-frozen ice pack.
- Replace the food bowl, aligning '0' on the bowl (B1) with '0' on the base unit (D1). If misaligned, press ADJ/SET and UP arrows together for 3 seconds.
- Replace the feeder lid, ensuring clips click into place.
- The meal in bowl '1' will be served at the next programmed time.
- Always turn the feeder off after use (see Section 9).

Usage Tips and Maintenance
5. Especially for Cats:
- Ensure adequate toilet arrangements when leaving cats unattended.
- Do not leave cats alone for extended periods without periodic checks.
- Consider using a CAT MATE fountain for a continuous supply of fresh water.
6. Especially for Dogs:
- Most small dogs adapt well to automatic feeders. Supervise initial use to prevent damage, especially with puppies.
- Ensure adequate toilet arrangements when leaving dogs unattended.
- Do not leave dogs alone for extended periods without periodic checks.
- Consider using a DOG MATE fountain for a continuous supply of fresh water.
Attaching to a Wooden Baseplate (for stability):
- Remove the feeder lid and food bowl.
- Place the feeder on the desired wooden board and mark screw holes through the retaining clips (F, Fig. 1).
- Carefully break out the retaining clips by cutting the webs with a sharp knife (Fig. 7).
- Insert clips flat-side up into the marked holes and screw them to the board (Fig. 8).
- Turn the clips to lock or unlock the feeder to the base (Fig. 9).

7. Food Storage Hints:
- The C300 is suitable for all types of pet food.
- Always use the ice pack unless the ambient temperature is below 5°C (40°F). Freeze the ice pack for at least 6 hours before use. Spare ice packs are available from retailers or www.pet-mate.com.
- When using wet food, ensure it is from a freshly opened pack. In warm weather, dry food is recommended due to better keeping qualities. Consult the wet food manufacturer if unsure.
8. Feeder Positioning:
- Use indoors, in a garage, or an outbuilding.
- Place in a cool, shaded corner, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
9. Turning the Feeder Off and On:
- To turn off and retain settings: Press and hold both UP and DOWN arrow buttons until 'OFF' is displayed. Repeat to turn on.
10. Changing Batteries:
- Replace batteries when the low battery indicator (2, Fig. 2) flashes.
- IMPORTANT: Replace all batteries within 60 seconds to preserve clock and meal settings. Do not press any buttons during battery replacement, as this will reset the unit.
- It is recommended to remove batteries if the feeder will not be used for extended periods.
11. Cleaning:
- The feeder is easy to clean.
- The lid and bowl are dishwasher safe.
- Wipe the base unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base unit in water.
