General Safety Precautions
Electrical Safety
- CAUTION-POTENTIAL INJURY: To avoid fire or electrical shock, connect the power cord to an appropriately rated and properly grounded electrical outlet near the product.
- CAUTION-POTENTIAL INJURY: Use only the power cord provided with this product or an authorized replacement.
- CAUTION-SHOCK HAZARD: This product uses an electronic power switch that does not physically disconnect AC voltage. Always remove the power cord to disconnect AC voltage when required.
- CAUTION-POTENTIAL INJURY: For connecting to the public switched telephone network, use only a 26 AWG or larger telecommunications (RJ-11) cord. For Australia, the cord must be approved by the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
Laser Safety
- CAUTION-POTENTIAL INJURY: This product uses a laser. Use of controls, adjustments, or procedures not specified in the User's Guide may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
Ozone Production
The product may produce small amounts of ozone during normal operation. A filter is designed to limit ozone concentrations below recommended exposure limits. To avoid high ozone levels during extensive usage, install the product in a well-ventilated area. Replace ozone and exhaust filters if instructed in the product maintenance instructions. If no filters are mentioned in maintenance instructions, none require replacement.
General Precautions
- Do not remove the cabinet, operation panel, or any other covers.
- The equipment's exterior doors and covers may contain safety interlocks. Do not bypass any safety interlocks.

Regional Safety and Regulatory Information
United Kingdom - Mains Plug Wiring
This equipment is fitted with a mains plug. If the fuse needs replacement, use a BSI or ASTA approved fuse to BS1362 of the same rating. Always refit the fuse cover after replacing the fuse on a moulded plug. Never use the plug without the fuse cover fitted.
If the socket outlet is incompatible, cut off the moulded plug or remove screws from a rewireable plug and fit an appropriate type. DANGER: The fuse should be removed from the cut-off plug, and the plug destroyed immediately and disposed of safely. Never insert a cut-off plug into a 13A socket outlet as this may cause serious electric shock.

- BROWN: Live
Connect wires according to terminal markings (E for Earth, N for Neutral, L for Live) or corresponding colors. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician. WARNING: THIS APPARATUS MUST BE EARTHED.

Important Safety Instructions

About the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991
This act makes it unlawful to send messages without including the date, time, sender identification, and telephone number on each transmitted page or the first page. Refer to the User's Guide for programming this information into the FAX machine.
FCC Notice to Users
This equipment complies with FCC Part 68 rules and ACTA requirements. The product identifier format is US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. The ## digits represent the REN (Ringer Equivalence Number) without a decimal point. The REN determines the number of devices allowed on a telephone line; the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0) in most areas. Contact the local telephone company for specific limits.
