How to Make Drip Coffee
ℹ️ Note: The first time the appliance is used, all accessories and internal circuits must be washed by making at least two jugs of coffee without using pre-ground coffee.
- Open the [Lid] (E) and use the jug to pour clean cold water into the [Water fill compartment] (F) up to the level indicated for the desired number of cups. Check the water level in the tank through the [Water level indicator] (D). It is recommended to use the provided jug as a measure, as its maximum capacity is the same as the tank.
- Position the [Permanent filter] (H) (if present) in the [Filter holder] (G). In versions without a permanent filter, use a paper filter (size 1x4).
- Place the pre-ground coffee in the filter using the [Measure] (C) provided and level it evenly. Refer to the table for recommended quantities. Use good quality, medium pre-ground coffee for drip coffee makers.
Recommended Quantities:
No. cups | No. measures (*) |
---|---|
10 | 10 |
8 | 8 |
6 | 6 |
4 | 4 |
2 | 2 |
(* 1 level measure = 1 tablespoon (5 g))
The quantities in the table are indicative and should be adapted to personal taste and coffee type. Never exceed the maximum quantity of 10 measures. The type of coffee blend significantly influences the taste.
- Models with glass jug (A): Close the [Lid] (E) and place the closed jug on the [Warming plate] (I).
- Models with thermal jug (B): Before placing the jug on the plate, ensure the lid is closed. An inset diagram shows how to remove the lid by turning it.
- Models with electronic controls: The taste of the coffee can be optimized by pressing the [My aroma Button] (Q). This function enables a slower percolation process for improved flavor and aroma. Pressing the [My aroma Button] (Q) again allows looping through three different options.
- To start the brewing process, press the [/AUTO Button] (O) (fig. 8). The white light indicates operation, and "BREW" appears on the display. The appliance emits a beep when delivery begins and three beeps when it ends.
- AUTO mode: From active mode, press and hold the [/AUTO Button] (O) for more than 2 seconds. The clock icon will turn on, and brewing will start at the preset timer.
- Models with switch: Press the [On/stand by Button] (M) (fig. 9). The light on the switch indicates operation. Coffee delivery starts after a few seconds. The appliance emits a beep when delivery begins and three beeps when it ends. The taste can be optimized by pressing the [AROMA Button] (L). This function enables slower percolation for better flavor and aroma. Press the [AROMA Button] (L) to enable it (light comes on); press again to disable. The AROMA button is recommended when not making a full jug.
- Models with glass jug: If the [On/stand by Button] (M) is left pressed after brewing, the plate keeps the coffee warm. The appliance automatically switches off 40 minutes after delivery ends. Press the [On/stand by Button] (M) again to turn off the plate earlier.
- It is normal for the appliance to emit steam during percolation.
- For a new brewing cycle, switch off the appliance using the on/off button and restart.
- Models with thermal jug: To pour coffee, press the button as shown in fig. 10. After percolation, the appliance switches off automatically. For a new brewing cycle, switch off and restart using the [On/stand by Button] (M).
ℹ️ Note: Removing the jug before all coffee has been delivered will block the flow into the jug. To pour a small amount immediately, do so rapidly to avoid overflow.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Before cleaning, turn off, unplug from the mains socket, and allow the appliance to cool.
- Do not use solvents or abrasive detergents. Wipe with a soft damp cloth.
- Never immerse the coffee maker in water.
- The [Water tank filter] (S) can be accessed through the [Lid] (E). Clean when necessary.
Descaling
Limescale can build up over time, affecting operation. Descaling is recommended every 40 coffee making cycles.
- Models with electronic controls: When the [Descale Button] (R) flashes (fig. 11), you need to descale.
- Models with switch: When the [AROMA Button] (L) and [On/stand by Button] (M) flash simultaneously (fig. 12), you need to descale.
- The appliance resets automatically after descaling.
- Always use special commercially available descaling products for drip coffee makers.
- Dilute the product in the jug following the product's instructions.
- Pour the solution into the [Water fill compartment].
- Place the jug on the warming plate.
- For electronic models: Press the [Descale Button] (R) and then the [/AUTO Button] (O).
- For models with switch: Press the [On/stand by Button] (M) and [AROMA Button] (L] simultaneously for more than 1.5 seconds. Percolate the equivalent of one cup, then turn off the appliance.
- Rinse by operating the appliance with water only at least 2 times (2 complete tanks of water).
Failure to clean as described above invalidates the guarantee.
