Intended Use
This wet/dry vacuum cleaner is designed for removing dry dirt and liquids.
The equipment is suitable for vacuuming dry, non-flammable, and health-hazardous dusts up to dust class L according to EN 60335-2-69. Limitation: Carcinogenic substances must not be vacuumed.
This equipment is suitable for industrial use, e.g., in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, shops, offices, and rental businesses.
For Switzerland only: The power socket should only be used in a dry environment during service.

Symbols on the Equipment
Dust Type: The equipment is suitable for dust class L.
WARNING: This equipment contains health-hazardous dust. Only trained persons with appropriate protective equipment should perform emptying and maintenance tasks, including dust bag removal. Do not connect until the complete filter system is installed.

Preparation
- Unpack the equipment and assemble accessories. (Figure B)
Commissioning
WARNING
Hazard from health-hazardous dust: Respiratory diseases from dust inhalation. Never vacuum without a filter element, as this increases the health risk due to increased fine dust emission.
CAUTION
Hazard from fine dust ingress: Risk of damage to the suction motor. Never remove the main filter element during vacuuming.
Antistatic System
Only on equipment with integrated power socket: The grounded connection coupling diverts static charges, preventing spark formation and electric shocks with conductive accessories (optional).
Dry Vacuuming
- NT 30/1: Equipped with a felt filter bag with sealing cap, order No. 2.889-154.0 (5 units).
- NT 40/1, NT 50/1: Equipped with a felt filter bag with sealing cap, order No. 2.889-155.0 (5 units).
Note: This equipment can vacuum all types of dust up to dust class L.
Note: The equipment is suitable as an industrial vacuum cleaner for vacuuming non-flammable dry dust with workplace limit values greater than or equal to 1 mg/m³.
For fine dust vacuuming, a felt filter bag or a disposal bag (special accessory) can be used additionally.
Mounting the felt filter bag
- Unlock and remove the suction head.
- Insert the felt filter bag. (Figure C)
- Attach and lock the suction head.
Mounting the disposal bag
- Unlock and remove the suction head.
- Insert the disposal bag (special accessory).
- Cover the container with the disposal bag (special accessories). Ensure the marking line is inside the container and both ventilation openings are on the rear wall of the container.
- Attach and lock the suction head.
Vacuuming Liquid Dirt
DANGER
Hazard from health-hazardous dust: Respiratory diseases from dust inhalation. Health-hazardous dusts must not be collected during liquid dirt vacuuming.
Note: The flat pleated filter (cellulose), order No. 6.904-367.0, is not recommended for regular liquid dirt vacuuming.
Note: The candle filter, order No. 2.414-000.0, is not suitable for vacuuming liquid dirt.
Mounting the rubber lips
- Remove the brush strips. (Figure E)
- Mount the rubber lips.
Note: The structured side of the rubber lips should face outwards. Observe the different lengths of the rubber lips.
Removing the felt filter bag
- Always remove the felt filter bag when vacuuming liquid dirt.
- Unlock and remove the suction head.
- Pull the felt filter bag upwards by the flange. (Figure F)
- Seal the felt filter bag tightly with a sealing cap.
- Dispose of the used felt filter bag according to legal regulations.
- Attach and lock the suction head.
Removing the disposal bag
- Always remove the disposal bag (special accessories) when vacuuming liquid dirt.
- Unlock and remove the suction head.
- Pull the disposal bag (special accessories) upwards. (Figure G)
- Seal the disposal bag (special accessory) tightly with the cable tie below the opening.
- Remove the disposal bag (special accessories).
- Clean the inside of the container with a damp cloth.
- Dispose of the disposal bag (special accessories) according to legal regulations.
- Attach and lock the suction head.
Dirty water purging
NT 50/1 only:
- Empty the dirty water using the drain hose. (Figure H)
General
- When vacuuming liquid dirt with the crevice nozzle or upholstery nozzle (optional), especially when primarily vacuuming water from a container, it is recommended not to activate the "Semi-automatic filter cleaning" function.
- When the max. liquid level is reached, the equipment switches off automatically.
- For non-conductive liquids (e.g., oils, greases, cutting fluids), the equipment does not switch off when the container is full. Continuously monitor the fill level and empty the container in time.
- After liquid vacuuming: Clean the main filter element with filter cleaning. Clean the electrodes with a brush. Clean and dry the container with a damp cloth.
Clip Connection
The suction hose is equipped with a clip system. All accessories with a nominal width of 35 mm can be connected. (Figure I)
Operation
Connecting the Equipment
- Plug in the mains plug.
- Switch on the equipment using the rotary selector switch.
Working with Power Tools
Only on equipment with integrated power socket:
DANGER
Risk of electric shock: Danger of injury and damage. The socket is only for direct connection of power tools to the vacuum cleaner. Any other use of the socket is improper.
- Plug the power tool's mains plug into the vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner is in standby mode.
- Switch on the equipment using the rotary selector switch.
Note: The vacuum cleaner switches on and off automatically with the power tool.
Note: The vacuum cleaner has a start-up delay of up to 0.5 seconds and an overrun time of up to 15 seconds.
Note: Refer to the technical data for the connection power rating of power tools.
- Remove the bend from the suction hose. (Figure J)
- Mount the tool adapter onto the suction hose.
- Connect the tool adapter to the power tool. (Figure K)
Semi-automatic Filter Cleaning
Note: Actuating the filter cleaning every 5-10 minutes increases the service life of the main filter element.
Note: The semi-automatic filter cleaning can only be connected with the equipment switched on.
- Press the semi-automatic filter cleaning button 5 times. The main filter element is cleaned by an air blast (pulse noise).
- Power cleaning (when the main filter element is particularly dirty): Close the suction pipe or bend with your hand and press the semi-automatic filter cleaning button five times with the equipment switched on. (Figure L)
Disconnecting the Equipment
- Press the semi-automatic filter cleaning button 5 times.
- Switch off the equipment using the rotary selector switch.
- Unplug the mains plug.
After Each Service
- Empty the container.
- Clean the inside and outside of the equipment by vacuuming and wiping with a damp cloth.
Folding/Unfolding the Push Handle
NT 50/1 only:
- Release the push handle locking mechanism and adjust it.
Storing the Equipment
- Store the suction hose and mains cable as shown in the figure. (Figure M)
- Store the equipment in a dry place and protect it from unauthorized use.
Transport
CAUTION
Non-observance of weight: Risk of injury and damage. Consider the weight of the equipment during transport.
- Remove the suction pipe with the floor nozzle from the holder. Carry the equipment by the carrying handle and the suction pipe, not by the push handle.
- When transporting the equipment in vehicles, secure it against slipping and tipping according to current guidelines.
Storage
CAUTION
Non-observance of weight: Risk of injury and damage. Consider the weight of the equipment for storage. The equipment can only be stored indoors.
Care and Maintenance
DANGER
Risk of electric shock: Injury when touching live parts. Disconnect the equipment. Unplug the mains plug. Machines that generate dust are equipped with safety devices to prevent or resolve hazards according to DGUV Regulation 1 (German accident prevention regulations, prevention principles).
CAUTION
Detergents containing silicone: Plastic parts can be damaged. Do not use silicone-containing detergents for cleaning.
- Simple cleaning and maintenance tasks can be performed by the user.
- Regularly clean the surface of the equipment and the inside of the container with a damp cloth.
Main Filter Element
Changing the flat pleated filter
- Open the filter cover.
- Remove the filter frame. (Figure N)
- Remove the flat pleated filter.
- Dispose of the used flat pleated filter according to legal regulations.
- Clean any generated dirt on the clean air side.
- Clean the filter frame and its seating surface with a damp cloth.
- Insert a new flat pleated filter. Ensure the flat pleated filter is correctly seated on all sides during installation.
- Insert the filter frame.
- Close the filter cover; it should audibly click into place.
Changing the candle filter
- Open the filter cover.
- Remove the candle filter (special accessories). (Figure O)
- Dispose of the used candle filter (special accessories) according to legal regulations.
- Clean any generated dirt on the clean air side.
- Clean the seating surface of the candle filter with a damp cloth.
- Insert the new candle filter (special accessories).
- Close the filter cover; it should audibly click into place.
Changing the felt filter bag
- Unlock and remove the suction head.
- Pull the felt filter bag upwards by the flange. (Figure F)
- Seal the felt filter bag tightly with a sealing cap.
- Dispose of the used felt filter bag according to legal regulations.
- Insert the new felt filter bag.
- Attach and lock the suction head.
Changing the disposal bag
- Unlock and remove the suction head.
- Pull the disposal bag (special accessories) upwards. (Figure G)
- Seal the disposal bag (special accessory) tightly with the cable tie below the opening.
- Remove the disposal bag (special accessories).
- Clean the inside of the container with a damp cloth.
- Dispose of the disposal bag (special accessories) according to legal regulations.
- Insert the new disposal bag (special accessory).
- Cover the container with the disposal bag (special accessories). Ensure the marking line is inside the container and both ventilation openings are on the rear wall of the container.
- Attach and lock the suction head.
Cleaning the electrodes
- Unlock and remove the suction head.
- Clean the electrodes with a brush.
- Attach and lock the suction head.
Troubleshooting
DANGER
Risk of electric shock: Injury when touching live parts. Disconnect the equipment. Unplug the mains plug.
Note: If a fault occurs (e.g., filter breakage), disconnect the equipment immediately. Eliminate the fault before recommissioning.
The suction turbine does not run
- Check the mains plug and the power supply fuse.
- Check the mains cable, mains plug, electrodes, and if necessary, the equipment plug.
- Connect the equipment.
The suction turbine switches off
- Empty the container.
The suction turbine does not restart after emptying the container
- Switch off the equipment and wait 5 seconds. Switch the equipment back on.
- Clean the electrodes with a brush.
Suction power is reduced
- Clear blockages in the suction nozzle, suction pipe, suction hose, or main filter element.
- Change the full felt filter bag.
- Change the full disposal bag (special accessories).
- Press the semi-automatic filter cleaning button 5 times with the equipment switched on.
- Ensure the filter cover is correctly seated.
- Change the main filter element.
- NT 50/1 only: Check the seal of the drain hose.
- Only with flat pleated filters: Check/correct the correct position of the flat pleated filter. (Figure P)
- Change the main filter element.
Automatic shut-off (liquid vacuuming) does not work
- Clean the electrodes with a brush.
- Continuously monitor the fill level of non-conductive liquids.
Semi-automatic filter cleaning does not work
- Suction hose not connected.
Semi-automatic filter cleaning cannot be switched off
- Contact after-sales service.
Semi-automatic filter cleaning cannot be connected
- Contact after-sales service.
After-Sales Service
If the fault cannot be resolved, the after-sales service should check the equipment.
Warranty
Warranty conditions specified by the authorized dealer apply in each country. Karcher will rectify any defects free of charge within the warranty period if the cause is due to faulty material or manufacturing. For warranty claims, contact your dealer or the nearest authorized after-sales service with the proof of purchase.
