Intended Use

The tool is intended for blowing dust.

Noise and Vibration

Noise: The typical A-weighted noise level determined according to EN50636:

Note: Declared vibration emission values are measured by standard test methods and can be used for comparison. They may also be used for preliminary exposure assessment. Actual vibration emission may differ based on usage. Identify safety measures based on estimated exposure in actual use conditions.

Cordless Blower Safety Warnings

Training

  1. Read instructions carefully and familiarize yourself with controls and blower use.
  2. Never allow children or persons with reduced physical/mental capabilities, or lack of experience/knowledge to use the blower. Local regulations may restrict operator age.
  3. Electric shock may occur on wet surfaces. Do not expose to rain; store indoors.
  4. The operator is responsible for accidents or hazards to others or their property.

Preparation

  1. Obtain and wear ear protection and safety glasses at all times.
  2. Always wear substantial footwear and long trousers.
  3. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can be drawn into the air inlet. Keep long hair away from air inlets.
  4. To prevent dust irritation, wearing a face mask is recommended.

Operation

  1. Operate the blower in a recommended position on a firm, level surface.
  2. Never point the nozzle at anyone nearby.
  3. Never block suction inlet and/or blower outlet.
    • Do not block suction inlet or blower outlet to clean dusty areas.
    • Do not use a tapered nozzle smaller than the original, or one attached via an extra diameter-reduced hose or smaller hose.
    • Do not use the blower to inflate balls, rubber boats, etc. Increased motor revolution can cause fan breakage and serious injury. Heated motor/circuit may cause fire.
  4. Do not overreach; maintain proper balance and footing. Walk, never run, especially on slopes.
  5. Do not operate on paved or gravel surfaces where ejected material could cause injury.
  6. Never operate with people, especially children, or pets nearby.
  7. Do not operate near open windows.
  8. Operating at reasonable hours is recommended to avoid disturbing others.
  9. Using rakes and brooms to loosen debris before blowing is recommended.
  10. Slightly dampen surfaces in dusty conditions or use a mister attachment.
  11. Use the long nozzle so the air stream works close to the ground.
  12. If the blower strikes foreign objects or makes unusual noise/vibration, switch it off immediately. Remove the battery cartridge and inspect for damage. If damaged, have it repaired by Makita Authorized Service Centers before restarting.
  13. Switch off the blower, remove the battery cartridge, and ensure all moving parts have stopped completely:
    • Whenever you leave the blower.
    • Before clearing blockages or unclogging the chute.
    • Before checking, cleaning, or working on the blower.
    • If the blower vibrates abnormally.
    • After striking a foreign object to inspect for damage.
  14. Do not insert fingers or other objects into suction inlet or blower outlet.

Maintenance and Storage

  1. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is OFF before inserting battery, picking up, or carrying the blower.
  2. When stopped for servicing, inspection, storage, or accessory change: shut off power, remove battery cartridge, ensure all moving parts have stopped. Cool down the blower before inspections/adjustments. Maintain with care and keep clean.
  3. Store the blower in a dry place out of reach of children.
  4. Always cool down the blower before storing.
  5. Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight for safe working condition.

Battery Tool Use and Care

  1. Recharge only with the specified charger. Using a charger suitable for one battery type with another may create a fire risk.
  2. Use the blower only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of other packs may create injury and fire risk.

Important Safety Instructions for Battery Cartridge

  1. Before using, read all instructions and cautionary markings on the battery charger, battery, and product.
  2. Do not disassemble or tamper with the battery cartridge; it may result in fire, excessive heat, or explosion.
  3. If operating time becomes excessively shorter, stop immediately; it may result in overheating, burns, or explosion.
  4. If electrolyte gets into eyes, rinse with clear water and seek medical attention immediately; it may result in loss of eyesight.
  5. Do not short the battery cartridge:
    • Do not touch terminals with conductive material.
    • Avoid storing battery cartridge with other metal objects (nails, coins, etc.).
    • Do not expose battery cartridge to water or rain.

A battery short can cause large current flow, overheating, burns, or breakdown.

  1. Do not store or use the tool and battery cartridge in locations where temperature may reach or exceed 50 °C (122 °F).
  2. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge, even if severely damaged or worn out; it can explode in a fire.
  3. Do not nail, cut, crush, throw, drop, or hit the battery cartridge against a hard object; this may result in fire, excessive heat, or explosion.
  4. Do not use a damaged battery.
  5. Lithium-ion batteries are subject to Dangerous Goods Legislation. For commercial transport, observe special requirements for packaging and labeling. Consult an expert for hazardous material preparation and observe national regulations. Tape or mask off open contacts and pack the battery so it cannot move.
  6. When disposing of the battery cartridge, remove it from the tool and dispose of it safely according to local regulations.
  7. Use batteries only with Makita-specified products. Installing batteries in non-compliant products may result in fire, excessive heat, explosion, or electrolyte leak.
  8. If the tool is not used for a long period, remove the battery from the tool.
  9. During and after use, the battery cartridge may become hot, causing burns. Handle hot battery cartridges with care.
  10. Do not touch the tool's terminal immediately after use as it may be hot enough to cause burns.
  11. Do not allow chips, dust, or soil to stick into the terminals, holes, and grooves of the battery cartridge; it may cause heating, fire, burst, or malfunction, resulting in burns or personal injury.
  12. Unless the tool supports use near high-voltage power lines, do not use the battery cartridge near them; it may result in malfunction or breakdown.
  13. Keep the battery away from children.

CAUTION: Only use genuine Makita batteries. Use of non-genuine or altered batteries may result in bursting, fires, personal injury, and damage. It will also void the Makita warranty.

Tips for Maintaining Maximum Battery Life

  1. Charge the battery cartridge before it is completely discharged. Stop operation and charge when tool power is noticeably less.
  2. Never recharge a fully charged battery cartridge; overcharging shortens service life.
  3. Charge battery cartridges at room temperature (10 °C - 40 °C / 50 °F - 104 °F). Let hot cartridges cool down before charging.
  4. When not using the battery cartridge, remove it from the tool or charger.
  5. Charge the battery cartridge if not used for a long period (more than six months).

Functional Description

CAUTION: Always ensure the tool is switched OFF and the battery cartridge is removed before adjusting or checking functions.

Installing or Removing Battery Cartridge

To remove: Slide the battery cartridge from the tool while sliding the button on the front.

To install: Align the tongue on the battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip it into place. Insert fully until it locks with a click. If the red indicator on the button is visible, it is not locked completely.

CAUTION: Always install the battery cartridge fully until the red indicator cannot be seen. Failure to do so may cause it to fall out, causing injury. Do not install forcibly; if it doesn't slide easily, it's not inserted correctly.

Note: The tool does not work with only one battery cartridge.

Tool / Battery Protection System

The tool has a system that automatically cuts off power to the motor to extend tool and battery life. The tool stops during operation under certain conditions, sometimes indicated by lights.

Overload Protection

If the tool draws abnormally high current, it stops automatically without indication. Turn the tool OFF, stop the overloading application, then turn the tool ON to restart.

Overheat Protection for Tool

When the tool overheats, it stops automatically, and the battery indicator blinks for about 60 seconds. Let the tool cool down before turning it on again.

Overdischarge Protection

When battery capacity is low, the tool stops automatically. If the product does not operate even when switches are operated, remove batteries and charge them.

Indicating the Remaining Battery Capacity

Only for Battery Cartridges with the Indicator

Press the check button on the battery cartridge to indicate remaining battery capacity. Indicator lamps light up for a few seconds.

Note: Indication may differ slightly from actual capacity depending on usage conditions and ambient temperature. The first (far left) indicator lamp blinks when the battery protection system works.

Remaining Battery Capacity Indication (Country Specific)

Press the check button to show remaining battery capacities. The indicators correspond to each battery.

Switch Action

CAUTION: Before inserting the battery cartridge, always check that the switch trigger actuates properly and returns to the "OFF" position when released.

1. Switch trigger: To start, pull the switch trigger. Speed increases with pressure. Release to stop.

1. Lock button: For continuous operation, pull the switch trigger, push in the lock button, then release the switch trigger. To stop, pull the switch trigger fully, then release.

Speed Change

1. Adjusting dial: Maximum air volume is adjusted by turning the dial (marked 1-lowest to 6-highest). This can be done while the tool is running.

NOTICE: The dial turns only between 1 and 6. Do not force past these limits. High temperatures may cause the tool to stop due to overheat protection; let it cool down and avoid setting to speed 6 in such circumstances.

Assembly

CAUTION: Always ensure the tool is switched OFF and the battery cartridge is removed before any work on the tool.

Installing the Long Nozzle

  1. Align the small projection of the housing with the groove of the long nozzle.
  2. Slide in the long nozzle and turn it clockwise until the triangle markings on the nozzle and housing meet.

The nozzle length can be adjusted by changing the locking position.

Installing the Flat Nozzle or Extension Nozzle

Optional accessory. The extension nozzle / flat nozzle can be installed on the tip of the long nozzle in the same way.

Installing the Gutter Nozzle

Optional accessory. The gutter nozzle can be installed on the blower using the required adapter pipe. Refer to the gutter nozzle's instruction manual for details.

Attaching the Shoulder Strap

Optional accessory.

CAUTION: When using with a backpack-type power supply, do not use the shoulder strap included in the tool package. Using both simultaneously can make emergency removal difficult and cause accidents or injury.

Hook the shoulder strap onto the tool's hanger. Adjust the strap length for comfortable use.

Operation

Blowing

CAUTION: Do not place the blower on the ground while switched on, as sand or dust entering the suction inlet may cause personal injury.

Hold the blower firmly and move it around slowly. When blowing around buildings, stones, or vehicles, direct the nozzle away from them. For corner operations, start from the corner and move to wider areas.

Maintenance

CAUTION: Always ensure the tool is switched OFF and the battery cartridge is removed before inspection or maintenance. Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol, or similar solvents, as they may cause discoloration, deformation, or cracks.

Cleaning

From time to time, wipe the outside of the tool with a cloth dampened in soapy water.

Repairs and Service

To maintain product safety and reliability, all repairs, maintenance, and adjustments should be performed by Makita Authorized Service Centers using genuine Makita replacement parts.
