How to Check Firmware Version
Go to Setup -> Misc. -> Firmware Update and check the version number. If it differs from the latest available version, update your unit.
Update via USB Storage
Note: Remove wired/wireless connections before updating via USB. Prepare a USB storage device (USB flash memory stick) with at least 128 MB of available space. Unpack the ZIP file onto an empty USB Stick formatted with FAT file system.

Precautions for the Firmware Update
- Read update instructions carefully.
- Update takes up to 30 minutes. Do not turn off power supply until restart.
- Network updates may take over an hour or fail. If not completed within two hours, turn off power and try again.
- Updating and settings adjustment are automatic.
- Avoid:
- Pulling out the A/V receiver's power cord.
- Interrupting power supply (e.g., breaker trip, outage).
- Inserting/removing LAN cable during network update.
- Inserting/removing USB memory device during USB update.
- Operating connected components via HDMI (TV, recording device).
- Damage due to these actions may require paid repair by Onkyo service center.
- If "No Update" appears, the firmware is already the latest version.
How to Prepare the USB Memory Device
- Download the zipped firmware update file and save to your computer's Desktop. Link: http://download.onkyo.com/AVR0025/ONKAVR0025_E70000EAEAEOEO_N_113.zip
- Right-click the file and select "Extract All", placing the extracted folder on your Desktop.
- Connect the USB Memory Device to your computer's USB port and copy the contents of the unzipped/extracted folder onto your USB Memory Device.
- Safely eject the USB Memory Device from your computer.
How to Upgrade the Firmware via USB
- Insert the USB Memory Device containing the software into the receiver's USB port.
- Turn on the receiver, select SETUP input, then "7.Misc", press Enter, then "F/W Update", press Enter, scroll down to "Update via USB".
- Press "Enter" on the front panel to begin the update.
- Do not shut off the unit until "Complete" is shown on the display (up to 30 minutes).
- After completion, check the firmware version to confirm it is up to date. If not, run the update again.
- To check version: Press SETUP, highlight "7.Misc", press Enter, highlight "F/W Update", press Enter, scroll to Firmware Version.
How to Upgrade the Firmware via Network
- If connected via LAN and update is available, "Firmware Update Available" message may appear. Select "Update Now" with remote cursor buttons and press ENTER. Unit enters standby mode about 30 minutes after "Completed!".
- Alternatively, to force an update: Select "SETUP" on the front panel, scroll to "8.Misc", select "F/W Update", then "Update Via NET", press ENTER.
- If "Firmware Update" is grayed out, wait for it to start.
- "Update via NET" cannot be selected if no update is available.
- Press ENTER with "Update" selected to start. During update, TV screen may go black; check unit display for progress. TV screen may remain black until update is complete and power is turned on. "Completed!" is displayed upon completion.
- Press ON/STANDBY on the main unit to enter standby mode. Firmware is now updated. Do not use the remote controller's RECEIVER button.
