- To replace cord, turn upper cord hook to the up position, then wrap cord.
❗ WARNING: This vacuum cleaner has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). It will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If it does not fit fully, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified technician. Do not change the plug.
Releasing the Handle
Press down on the handle release pedal with your foot and pull back and down on the handle with your hand. Note: The agitator does not rotate when the vacuum cleaner is in the upright position.
Touch Control and Modes
The touch control panel allows selection of various cleaning modes.
- inteliCLEAN: Turns ON the vacuum cleaner in inteliCLEAN mode. The indicator light is green. Pressing the `inteliCLEAN` or `TOOLS` button turns OFF or de-activates inteliCLEAN mode.
- SUCTION/TOOLS: Changes the suction level of the vacuum cleaner motor (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW). When the vacuum cleaner is OFF and locked in the upright position, pressing the `SUCTION` button turns ON the motor to HIGH for cleaning most carpets. The agitator starts (HIGH speed) when the vacuum cleaner is lowered. Pressing `SUCTION` cycles the motor through MEDIUM, LOW, and HIGH suction levels.
- GENTLE/FLOOR: Turns ON the vacuum cleaner motor to HIGH suction and the agitator motor to LOW speed for gentle cleaning of delicate carpets and rugs. Pressing `GENTLE/FLOOR` a second time turns OFF the agitator motor for cleaning bare floors. The `SUCTION` button can be used to cycle motor speed through MEDIUM, LOW, and HIGH.
- CARPET: Turns ON the vacuum cleaner motor to HIGH suction and the agitator motor to HIGH speed for cleaning most carpets and rugs. The `SUCTION` button cycles the motor through MEDIUM, LOW, and HIGH suction levels.
Motor Function Summary:
Touch Control Button | Agitator Motor Speed | Motor/Fan Speed |
---|---|---|
OFF | OFF | OFF |
CARPET | HIGH | HIGH |

inteliCLEAN™ System and Dirt Sensor
The inteliCLEAN system automatically selects the appropriate cleaning power.
- inteliCLEAN Indicator: Green when inteliCLEAN mode is activated.
- Dirt Sensor: Monitors dirt concentration and adjusts power.
- Green Sensor Light: Little or no dirt detected. inteliCLEAN operates at MEDIUM power for low energy consumption and noise.
- Amber Sensor Light: Normal dirt concentration. inteliCLEAN operates at HIGH power. Energy consumption and noise levels increase.
- Amber and Red Sensor Lights: Heavy dirt concentration. inteliCLEAN operates at MAXIMUM power. Highest energy consumption and noise levels.
Pile Height Selection and Setting
Your vacuum cleaner has a two-speed, direct-drive agitator for various floor surfaces.
⚠️ CAUTION: Do not use the CARPET setting (high speed) for berber-style carpet, as it could cause damage or excessive wear.
- Use the GENTLE setting (low speed) ONLY for berber or delicate pile carpeting.
- The agitator may slow down or stop on thick carpeting, area rugs, or throw rugs. If the agitator stops and does not restart, refer to the AGITATOR MOTOR OVERLOAD PROTECTOR section.
- The FLOOR setting is suitable for all bare floors (wood, tile, linoleum, slate, etc.).
To select a pile height setting:
- Turn off the vacuum cleaner.
- Tilt the vacuum cleaner back until the front wheels are lifted slightly off the floor.
- Slide the adjustment lever to the correct setting.
There are four (4) pile height settings: LOW (for low-pile carpets and bare floors with agitator OFF), HIGH (for high-pile carpets like shag), and intermediate settings as needed.
⚠️ CAUTION: Do not allow the vacuum cleaner to remain in one spot for an extended period when the agitator is turning, as this may damage the carpet.
