Analog Modes
KEY1 and KEY2
These modes are for analog learning-style radios. The SWC module uses a resistor chain for compatibility. Holding buttons for 2 seconds during learning is extended by this feature for easier programming, especially for scroll-wheel buttons. This 'Extend' mode is for teaching only, not normal use.
KEY1 and KEY2 EXTEND
This feature automatically prolongs each button press during the learning process, simplifying head unit programming for devices with scroll-wheel steering wheel buttons where a 2-second press is not feasible. It is intended for the teaching process only.
ANALOG SINGLE WIRE and ANALOG SINGLE WIRE EXTEND
This functions similarly to KEY1 and KEY2 but transmits all unique values through a single IR SWC wire. This is essential for learning-style head units with only one learning input wire. The Analog Extend mode functions identically to the KEY1 and KEY2 Extend system but uses a single wire for transmission.
SWC Interface
The interface includes a 16-pin head unit connection lead, an 18-pin steering wheel harness connector, and dipswitches for configuration. It also features a USB-C port for potential updates or configuration.
Connection Guide
Before Installation
Remove and disconnect the factory stereo. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or a professional for assistance.
Setting the Dipswitches
Consult the dipswitch selection guide to choose the correct configuration. Press a dipswitch down to the 'ON' position to activate it. Refer to the diagram for an example of the 'KENWOOD1' configuration.

Installation Steps
- Connect the 16-pin head unit connection lead and the 18-pin steering wheel harness connectors to their respective ports on the interface.
- Connect the 16-pin head unit connection lead to the steering wheel remote input on the aftermarket stereo. Connection methods vary (3.5mm jack, SWC IR wire, KEY1/KEY2 wires). Refer to your stereo's manual if not clearly labeled.
- Connect the power/speaker ISO connector from the interface to the aftermarket stereo's ISO connection. If no ISO connector is present, use the "Wiring Key" for wire-to-wire connections. Some interfaces have extra "flying" wires for parking brake, reverse gear, and speed pulse.
- Connect the vehicle-specific connectors from the interface harness to the corresponding vehicle harness connectors.
- Connect any applicable flying wires to the rear of the stereo.
- Connect the antenna adapter to the vehicle's antenna connection at the rear of the aftermarket stereo.
- If installing an aftermarket reverse camera, connect the yellow RCA from the harness to the camera's yellow RCA (if supported).
- If installing a DAB antenna, connect the DAB aerial connector to the rear of the new stereo.
- After all connections are made, test the stereo and steering wheel controls thoroughly before reassembling the dashboard. If controls are unresponsive, check connections and dipswitch settings. Repeat connection steps if necessary.
Steering Wheel Control Configuration
The following button functions are typically assigned:
- A: Volume Up
- B: Volume Down
- C: Track Up
- D: Track Down
- E: Hang Up
- F: Pick Up (Short Press) / Voice (Long Press)
Note: Actual steering wheel control configurations may vary depending on the vehicle.
Button Remapping
Steering wheel buttons can be reconfigured or assigned dual functions (short press/long press). Availability depends on the vehicle and aftermarket radio support. Custom configurations can be made via PC, MAC, or smartphone through the USB port. Detailed instructions are available on the ACV website.
