Special Modes Explained
KEY1 and KEY2: Tailored for analog learning mode radios, using a resistor chain for compatibility.
KEY1 and KEY2 EXTEND: Extends button presses to 2 seconds for learning mode, useful for buttons that are difficult to hold. Used only during the teaching process.
ANALOG SINGLE WIRE and ANALOG SINGLE WIRE EXTEND: Transmits unique values through a single IR SWC wire, for head units with only one learning input. Analog Extend mode functions identically to KEY1/KEY2 Extend but uses a single wire.
Connection Guide
Before Installation: Remove and disconnect the factory stereo. Refer to the vehicle owner's manual or a professional for guidance.
Setting the Dipswitches: Consult the dipswitch selection guide to select the appropriate configuration. Press a dipswitch downward to the 'ON' position.
Installation Steps:
- Connect the 16-PIN head unit connection lead and the 18-PIN steering wheel harness connectors to their respective ports on the interface.
- Connect the head unit connection lead to the steering wheel remote input on the aftermarket stereo. Connection methods vary (3.5mm jack, SWC IR wire, or KEY1/KEY2 inputs). Refer to the aftermarket stereo's manual for specific guidance.
- Connect the power/speaker ISO connector from the interface to the aftermarket stereo's ISO connection. For stereos without ISO, refer to the "Wiring Key" on Page 2. Extra "flying" wires may be present for parking brake, reverse gear, and speed pulse.
- Connect the vehicle-specific connectors from the interface harness to the vehicle harness.
- Connect flying wires on the harness to the rear of the stereo (if applicable).
- Connect the antenna adapter to the vehicle's existing antenna connection.
- If installing an aftermarket reverse camera, connect the yellow RCA from the harness to the camera's yellow RCA (if supported).
- If installing a DAB antenna, connect the DAB aerial connector to the new stereo.
- After connecting all wires and accessories, thoroughly test the stereo and steering wheel controls before reassembling the dashboard. If controls are unresponsive, inspect connections and check dipswitch settings. Repeat connection process if necessary.
Steering Wheel Control Configuration
The steering wheel buttons can be re-configured or assigned dual functions, depending on the vehicle and aftermarket radio support. Dual functions allow for both a short press and a long press command per button. Bespoke configurations can be created. Button configuration can be done via PC, MAC, or smartphone using the USB port. Detailed Button Remapping instructions are available on the ACV website.
Example Steering Wheel Controls:
- A: Volume Up
- B: Volume Down
- C: Track Up
- D: Track Down
- E: Mute
- F: Voice
- G: Source
- H: Pick Up / Hang Up
Note: The provided diagram is an example; actual steering wheel control configurations may vary by vehicle.
