Lens Care and Precautions
This lens features dust-proof and splash-proof construction. Use with compatible dust-proof and splash-proof digital cameras.
General Care:
- When detaching the lens, prevent sand, dust, or water from entering the lens or terminals.
- The lens is not waterproof; do not use underwater. Wipe with a soft dry cloth if splashed.
- A lens mount rubber is used for dust/splash resistance. It may mark the camera body mount, which does not affect performance.
- Do not press the lens with excessive force.
- Clean lens surfaces with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt, water, oil, or fingerprints.
- Attach the lens rear cap when not in use to prevent dust entry.
- Do not place the lens with its mount surface facing down to protect contact points. Keep contact points clean.
About Condensation (Fogging): Condensation can occur due to temperature and humidity differences (e.g., moving from cold outdoors to warm indoors, or from air conditioning). This can cause dirt, mold, or malfunction. ? Note: If condensation occurs, turn off the camera and leave it for about two hours to acclimatize.
Cautions for Use:
- Avoid dropping, knocking, or applying excessive pressure to the lens.
- Do not drop the bag containing the lens.
- When carrying the camera with the lens attached, hold both securely.
- Keep the lens away from pesticides and volatile substances, as they can damage the exterior or paint.
- Do not point the lens at the sun or strong light sources, as this can cause overheating and fire.
- Avoid storage in direct sunlight, high temperatures/humidity, dusty/sandy environments, near heaters/air conditioners/humidifiers, wet locations, or inside vehicles.
- Store with a desiccant (silica gel) if not used for a prolonged period to prevent mold.
- Do not leave the lens in contact with rubber or plastic products for extended periods.
- Do not touch the lens contact points.
- Do not disassemble or alter the unit.
- In cold environments (below 0°C / 32°F), prolonged direct contact with metal parts may cause skin injury. Use gloves.
- Do not use benzine, thinner, alcohol, or similar cleaning agents on the lens glass or exterior, as they can cause damage or paint peeling. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.

Troubleshooting
Symptom: A sound is heard when the camera is turned on/off or when taking a picture of a bright subject.
Cause: This is the sound of lens or aperture movement and is not a malfunction.
Symptom: Autofocus sounds may be recorded during motion picture recording in quiet situations.
Solution: Switch to Manual Focus (MF) or set the O.I.S. switch to [OFF] and use a tripod if O.I.S. sounds are bothersome during video recording.
