Introduction
The handheld optical light source is a fiber optic tester that provides dual-wavelength laser output. It offers excellent power stability for FTTx networks and fiber network testing. When combined with a power meter, it delivers a quick and accurate testing solution for both single mode and multimode fibers. The figures below display product images of the four optical light sources.

Operation Instructions
FOLS-201/FOLS-202
- Power On/Off and Auto-off Function: Press the 🔋 button to turn on the instrument. Press it again for 2 seconds or more to turn off the instrument. This light source has a power-saving function. If there is no operation for 10 minutes, the instrument will automatically shut down. To disable this function, press and hold the 🔋 button for 2 seconds when turning on the instrument until "PERM" is displayed.
- Backlight Function: When the instrument is powered on, a short press of the 🔋 button controls the backlight on or off. The backlight function allows use of the light source at night or in darker conditions.
- Select Wavelength: After pressing the λ button, you can select the required output wavelengths. The power meter or other measuring instrument should select the corresponding wavelength of the light source.
- Modulation Output: After pressing the ⚙ button, you can load a modulation current output laser. This instrument offers 3 modulations for selection: 270Hz, 1KHz, 2KHz.
- Wavelength Identification: Press the 🔍 button. The light source will output with wavelength ID, and the LCD will display "ID". If working with a paired power meter with WAVE ID function, the optical power meter will automatically change to the same wavelength.

- Power On/Off and Auto-off Function: Press the 🔋 button briefly to power on the instrument. Press the 🔋 button briefly again to power off the instrument. NOTE: Auto-off function
(1) The instrument will power off automatically if there is no operation for 10 minutes.
(2) While in the power-on state, press the 🔋 button for about 2 seconds to turn off the "Auto-off" function. - Select Wavelength: Press the λ button to select the wavelength between 1310nm and 1550nm (FOLS-203), or between 850nm and 1300nm (FOLS-204).
- Frequency Output: The instrument defaults to CW (Continuous Wave) when switched on. When set to CW, there is no frequency displayed. Press the ⇅ button to select the output among 270Hz, 1kHz, and 2kHz.
- Switch Backlight of LCD On/Off: Press the 💡 button to switch the LCD backlight on and off.
Maintenance
- The interface is sensitive; please plug in and pull out the adapter carefully.
- Remove the batteries when not in use.
- Keep the optical port of the optical light source clean with cotton swabs regularly.
- To avoid electric shock, do not disassemble the components. Disobeying standard instructions may lead to safety issues.
- To avoid measurement errors, cover the dust-proof cap to ensure the optical interface is clean when the unit is not in use.
- Do not view the laser output directly when using the optical light source. Doing so may cause personal injury, which should not be attributed to the product or FS.
