Interior Overview
The interior of the Kia EV9 is designed for comfort and convenience. Key controls and features are located on the doors, steering wheel, and center console.
Door Controls:

Front Trunk Components:

- Fuse Box: Contains the vehicle's fuses.
- Negative Battery Terminal: Connection for the negative battery terminal.

Instrument Cluster and EV Information
The instrument cluster provides essential information about the vehicle's operation, including speed, remaining range, and battery status.
Instrument Cluster Displays:
- Tachometer: Indicates engine speed (not applicable for EV).
- Remaining Range: Shows the estimated distance the vehicle can travel on the current charge.
- Power/Charge Indicator: Displays the vehicle's power consumption or charging status.
- Battery State of Charge (SOC): Shows the current charge level of the high-voltage battery.
- LCD Display: Main display for various vehicle information.
- Indicator Lights: Various warning and status lights.
- Reducer Position Indicator: Shows the current gear selection.
- Odometer: Records the total distance traveled.
- Regenerative Braking Level Indicator: Shows the level of regenerative braking engaged.
Power Limited Messages:
The vehicle may limit power for safety reasons under certain conditions:
- High-voltage battery voltage is too low or decreasing.
- High-voltage battery temperature is too high or too low.
- Motor temperature is high.
- The hood is open.
Low Battery Warning:
A "Low Battery" message appears when the high-voltage battery reaches approximately 25% (20% for extended range battery) or lower.
Charge Immediately. Power Limited:
A "Charge Immediately. Power Limited" message appears when the high-voltage battery reaches approximately 15% (10% for extended range battery) or lower.
EV Menu:
The EV menu, accessible through the infotainment system, provides detailed information on energy usage, charging, and vehicle settings.

Charging the Vehicle
Follow these steps to charge your Kia EV9:
- Press the brake pedal and engage the parking brake.
- Turn off all switches, shift the gear selector to Park (P), and turn off the vehicle. If charging is initiated without the vehicle in Park, it will start automatically once the gear is shifted to Park.
- Open the charging port door.
- Check the charging connector and port for any debris.
- Connect the charging connector to the vehicle's charging port. Ensure a secure connection. Improper connection may cause a fire hazard.
- Connect the charging plug to the AC charging station.
- Verify that the charging indicator light on the instrument cluster is illuminated. Charging is not active if the light is off. Reconnect if the charging connector and plug are not properly connected.
- The estimated charging time will be displayed on the instrument cluster for approximately one minute after charging begins. This information may also be displayed when a door is opened while charging. If scheduled charging or climate control is activated, the estimated charging time may show as "--".
Charging Time Information:
Charging times vary based on the charging method (AC or DC), charger power, and battery type (standard or extended range). The table provides estimated charging times from 10% to 100% or 80% at ambient temperature.
Note:
Charging time depends on the settings of the portable charging cable (ICCB) and the charging management menu in the infotainment system.
Climate Control and Cruise Control
The Kia EV9 features an advanced climate control system and adaptive cruise control.
Climate Control System:
- Driver's Temperature Adjustment Button: Controls the driver's side temperature.
- SYNC Button: Synchronizes the driver and passenger side temperatures.
- Infotainment System ON/OFF Button: Controls the infotainment system.
- Front Defrost Button: Defrosts the front windshield.
- Rear Defrost Button: Defrosts the rear window.
- Air Intake Selection Button: Selects the air intake mode.
- Air Conditioning Button: Activates the air conditioning.

To set cruise control to a desired speed, use the Driving Assist button. To increase the set speed, push the '+' switch upwards. To decrease the set speed, push the '-' switch downwards. To temporarily pause cruise control, press the brake pedal or the (II) button. To resume cruise control, press the '+', '-' or (II) button.
Seats, Airbags, and Child Seats
The Kia EV9 offers flexible seating arrangements and advanced safety features.
Second Row Seats:
- Seat Adjustment (Forward/Backward): Moves the seat forward or backward.
- Seatback Angle Adjustment: Adjusts the recline of the seatback.
- Retractable Switch: A retractable switch.
- Seatback Folding: Folds the seatback down.
- Swivel Seat: Allows the seat to swivel.
- Emergency Foldable Strap: A strap for folding the seat.
- Headrest: Adjustable headrest.
Third Row Seats:

Doors, Trunk, and Hood Operation
Learn how to operate the vehicle's doors, trunk, and hood.
Vehicle Start:
- If the battery is discharged or the Smart Key is not functioning, you can start the vehicle by pressing the EV button with the Smart Key. The Smart Key must be perpendicular to the button.
- If the stop lamp fuse is blown, the vehicle cannot be started normally. Replace the fuse. If not possible, you can start the vehicle by pressing the EV button for 10 seconds while in ACC position. The vehicle can start without pressing the brake pedal. However, for safety, always press the brake pedal before starting the vehicle.
Mechanical Key Lock/Unlock:
- Uses a mechanical key for locking and unlocking the vehicle.
Central Locking Switch Lock/Unlock:
- Lock: Locks the doors.
- Unlock: Unlocks the doors.
- Indicator Light: Shows the status of the central locking system.
Child Safety Rear Door Locks:
- Rotate to the locked position.
- Open the rear door from the outside.
Tailgate Open/Close:
- Press the exterior handle button to open the tailgate.
- Lift the tailgate to open.
- Push the tailgate down to close.
Tailgate Safety Device (Interior Release):
- Move the latch in the direction of the arrow to release the tailgate.
Front Trunk (Frunk) Open/Close:
- Open the hood to access the front trunk by pressing the hood release button on the crash pad.
Hood Open/Close:
- Press the hood release button on the instrument cluster twice.
- After lifting the released hood halfway, it will open completely on its own.
- To close the hood, lower it and then push it down firmly.
Emergency Call, Towing, and Software Updates
Information on the European emergency call system, towing procedures, and wireless software updates.
European Emergency Call System (eCall):
- Microphone: For voice communication during an emergency call.
- SOS Button: Manually initiates an emergency call.
- LED: Indicates the status of the eCall system.
- Wireless Network: Connects to the emergency services network.
- Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP): The public safety answering point that receives emergency calls.
- Emergency: Indicates an emergency situation.
- Roadside Assistance: Provides roadside assistance services.
The eCall system automatically calls emergency services in case of an accident. It transmits vehicle data to the PSAP for faster response. The emergency call cannot be terminated by pressing the SOS button; the PSAP operator must disconnect the call. In minor accidents, the eCall system may not activate automatically; however, an emergency call can be manually initiated by pressing the SOS button.
Towing:
- If towing the vehicle with two wheels off the ground, lift the rear wheels off the ground.
- For towing, use a flatbed or a towing dolly with all wheels off the ground.
Emergency Towing:
In case of emergency towing, it is recommended to contact an authorized Kia dealer or roadside assistance service.
Wireless Software Update:
The latest software can be downloaded automatically while driving. After a successful download, you will be notified on your phone or the vehicle's screen that the software update is complete and ready for installation. After turning off the vehicle, the system will allow you to start the update.

Lights, Wipers, and Regenerative Braking
Controls for lights, wipers, and the regenerative braking system.
Light Controls:
- Rotate the knob on the end of the control stalk to select lighting modes: OFF (O), AUTO, Parking Lights, and Low Beam.
High Beam Assist (HBA):
HBA automatically adjusts the headlights between high and low beams based on traffic and road conditions.
Wiper Controls:
- Front Wiper Speed Control: Adjusts the speed of the front wipers. Options include Off (O), intermittent (1x), low speed (1), high speed (2), and AUTO.
- Automatic Wiper Cycle Time Adjustment: Sets the delay for intermittent wipers.
- Windshield Wash: Activates a brief cycle of the wipers for washing the windshield.
Regenerative Braking Paddle:
Use the steering wheel paddles to adjust regenerative braking levels:
- Pull the left paddle to increase regenerative braking and deceleration.
- Pull the right paddle to decrease regenerative braking and deceleration.
The selected regenerative braking level is displayed on the instrument cluster. The initial setting may vary depending on the selected drive mode.

Tire Mobility Kit, Fluids, and Other Information

Tire Mobility Kit:
The Tire Mobility Kit is a temporary repair solution for tires and should only be used for a single tire. Read the instructions before use.
- Speed Limitation Label: Indicates the maximum speed when using the kit.
- Sealant Bottle/Container: Contains the tire sealant.
- Compressor Hose: Connects the compressor to the tire.
- Sealant Tank Filling Hose: Connects the sealant tank to the compressor.
- 12V Battery Cable/Connector: Powers the compressor.
- Compressor Hose Connector: Connects the hose to the compressor.
- Compressor: Inflates the tire.
- Compressor ON/OFF Switch: Turns the compressor on and off.
- Tire Inflation Pressure Gauge: Measures tire pressure.
- Tire Inflation Pressure Adjustment Knob: Adjusts the tire inflation pressure.
After using the kit, you can drive up to 200 km at a maximum speed of 80 km/h to reach a tire shop or service station.
Windshield Washer Fluid Level:
Check the fluid level in the reservoir and refill if necessary.
Coolant Level Verification:
The coolant level should be between the MAX and MIN or L markings on the reservoir when the electric components are cold. If the coolant level is low, contact a Kia authorized dealer or service partner.
WARNING:
Do not remove or disassemble high-voltage components, connectors, or the high-voltage battery wiring (orange cabling). Avoid damaging high-voltage components and the high-voltage battery, as this could cause serious injury and compromise vehicle performance and lifespan.
For inspections and maintenance of high-voltage components and the high-voltage battery, consult a Kia authorized dealer or service partner.
Other Information:
Parking Brake (Handbrake):
To engage the parking brake, press the brake pedal first and hold it. Then, engage the parking brake. It is recommended to always engage the "P" (Park) position before leaving the vehicle.
