General Guide
This guide explains the operation of your CASIO watch, model 3298.
- Press button B to cycle through different modes. Each mode is detailed on subsequent pages.
- After performing an operation in any mode, pressing button B will return you to the Timekeeping Mode.
- Holding down button A at any time will illuminate the display.
- The watch features an electroluminescent (EL) backlight. Please note that its illuminating power may decrease with very long-term use.
- Frequent use of the backlight will shorten the battery life.
Timekeeping Mode
In the Timekeeping Mode, you can view the current time, date, and day of the week.
Display elements include:
- PM indicator (for 12-hour format)
- Day of the week (e.g., SU for Sunday, MO for Monday)
- Date
- Hour
- Minute
- Second
To switch between 12-hour and 24-hour formats, press button C while in the Timekeeping Mode.
The day of the week is displayed using abbreviations: SU, MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA.
Alarm Mode
The Alarm Mode allows you to set a daily alarm and activate an hourly time signal.
Indicators visible in this mode:
- Mode indicator
- Hourly time signal on indicator
- Alarm on indicator
- Alarm Hour
- Minutes
When the Daily Alarm is active, the alarm sounds for 20 seconds at the preset time each day. When the Hourly Time Signal is active, the watch beeps every hour on the hour.
To set the alarm time:
- In the Alarm Mode, press button A. The hour digits will flash, indicating they are selected.
- Press button A to cycle through the selection: Hour, then Minutes.
- Press button C to increase the selected digits. Holding down button C will change the number at high speed.
- The alarm time format (12-hour or 24-hour) matches the format selected for normal timekeeping. When using the 12-hour format, ensure you set the correct AM/PM designation.
- After setting the alarm time, press button A to return to the Alarm Mode. The Daily Alarm will be automatically switched on.
To stop the alarm:
Press button A to stop the alarm once it begins sounding.
To switch the Daily Alarm and Hourly Time Signal on and off:
Press button C while in the Alarm Mode. This cycles through the following states:
- Both Daily Alarm and Hourly Time Signal are ON.
- Both are OFF.
- Daily Alarm only is ON.
- Hourly Time Signal only is ON.
To test the alarm:
Hold down button C while in the Alarm Mode to sound the alarm.
Stopwatch Mode
The Stopwatch Mode measures elapsed time, split times, and the times for two finishers.
The stopwatch has a measuring capacity of 59 minutes and 59.99 seconds.
Display elements include:
- Mode indicator
- Split time indicator
- Minutes
- Seconds
- 1/100 second
Elapsed time measurement:
Press C to Start, press C to Stop.
Press C to Re-start, press C to Stop.
Press A to Clear.
Split time measurement:
Press C to Start.
Press A to Split (record split time).
Press A again to Split release (resume timing).
Press C to Stop.
Press A to Clear.
Split time and 1st-2nd place times:
Press C to Start.
Press A when the first runner finishes (records first runner's time).
Press C to Stop (stops timing for the second runner).
Press A to Split release (records second runner's time).
Press A to Clear.
Time Setting Mode
This mode allows you to set the watch's time and date.
Display elements include:
- PM indicator
- Day of the week
- Date
- Hour
- Minute
- Second
To set the time and date:
- Use button B to enter the Time Setting Mode. The seconds digits will flash, indicating they are selected.
- Press button A to cycle through the selections: Seconds, Hour, Minutes, Day of Week, Date, Month.
- While the seconds digits are flashing, press button C to reset them to "00". If the seconds are between 30-59, pressing C resets to "00" and increments the minutes by one. If seconds are 00-29, minutes remain unchanged.
- While other digits (Hour, Minutes, Day of Week, Date, Month) are flashing, press button C to increase the number. When the Day of the Week is selected, pressing C advances to the next day. Holding down C changes the selection at high speed.
- After setting the time and date, press button B to return to the Timekeeping Mode.
- If no button is operated for a few minutes while a selection is flashing, the watch will automatically return to the Timekeeping Mode.
