Casio 3294 Operation Guide
About This Manual
This guide provides instructions for operating the Casio 3294 watch. Sample displays show dark figures on a light background. Product illustrations are for reference and may differ slightly from the actual product. Button operations are indicated by letters (A, B, C, D). Each section covers specific modes, with further details in the "Reference" section.
General Guide
The watch features multiple modes that can be accessed by pressing the C button: Timekeeping Mode, Alarm Mode, Countdown Timer Mode, and Stopwatch Mode. Pressing C in any mode returns to the Timekeeping Mode. The B button illuminates the display for approximately two seconds.
Mode Overview:
- Timekeeping Mode: Displays current time, date, and day of the week.
- Alarm Mode: Used for setting alarms and the Hourly Time Signal.
- Countdown Timer Mode: For setting and using a countdown timer.
- Stopwatch Mode: For measuring elapsed time, split times, and two finishes.
Timekeeping
The Timekeeping Mode allows setting and viewing the current time and date. The watch includes a full automatic calendar, pre-programmed from 2000 to 2099, which accounts for leap years and different month lengths.
To Set the Time and Date
- In Timekeeping Mode, press A. The seconds digits will flash.
- Press C to cycle through the settings to be changed: Seconds, Hour, Minutes, Day, Month, Year.
- When the desired setting is flashing, press D to change it.
- Pressing D resets seconds to 00.
- Pressing D increases Hour, Minutes, Year, Month, or Day.
- Note: If seconds are between 30-59 when reset, minutes increase by one.
- To toggle between 12-hour and 24-hour formats, press B while digits are flashing. The 12-hour format shows a PM indicator for times from noon to 11:59 PM. The 24-hour format displays times from 0:00 to 23:59.
- Press A to exit the setting screen. The day of the week is set automatically based on the date.
Backlight
The backlight uses an LED for illumination in the dark. Pressing B in any mode activates it for about two seconds.
To Switch the Backlight Function On and Off
In the Timekeeping Mode, press and hold D for about two seconds. An indicator will appear on the display when the backlight function is on. This indicator remains visible in all modes until the function is turned off. This operation only affects the backlight, not audible tones.
Backlight Precautions:
- Illumination may be difficult to see in direct sunlight.
- The backlight automatically stops when an alarm sounds.
- Frequent use reduces battery life.
Alarm
The watch features a multi-function alarm. When the alarm is on, it sounds for 20 seconds at the preset time. The Hourly Time Signal beeps every hour on the hour. Both functions sound in all modes.
Alarm Types:
- Daily Alarm: Sounds every day at the set time.
- Date Alarm: Sounds at a specific time on a specific date.
- 1-Month Alarm: Sounds every day at the set time, only during the specified month.
- Monthly Alarm: Sounds every month at the set time, on the specified day.
To Set the Alarm Time
- In Alarm Mode, press A. The hour digits of the alarm time will flash, automatically turning the alarm on.
- Press C to cycle through settings: Hour, Minutes, Month, Day.
- When a setting flashes, press D to increase it.
- To omit month (Daily, Monthly alarms), set the month to a blank indicator [ ] by pressing D.
- To omit day (Daily, 1-Month alarms), set the day to a blank indicator [ ] by pressing D.
- When setting the alarm time using the 12-hour format, ensure the AM/PM setting is correct.
- Press A to exit the setting screen.
To Stop the Alarm
Press any button after the alarm starts sounding.
To Switch an Alarm and Hourly Time Signal On and Off
In Alarm Mode, press D to cycle through the following states:
- Both Off
- Alarm Only
- Hourly Time Signal Only
- Both On
Indicators for the alarm and Hourly Time Signal appear on the display in all modes when these functions are active.
Countdown Timer
The countdown timer can be set from 1 second to 24 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, an alarm sounds for 10 seconds or until any button is pressed. An auto-repeat function can restart the countdown automatically.
To Set the Countdown Start Time
- In Countdown Timer Mode, press A. The hours digits will flash.
- Press C to cycle through settings: Hours, Minutes, Seconds.
- When a setting flashes, press D to increase it. To set a 24-hour countdown, set the time to 0:00'00.
- Press A to exit the setting screen.
To Use the Countdown Timer
Press D in Countdown Timer Mode to start the countdown. Press D again to pause, and again to resume. To stop and reset to the start time, pause with D, then press A.
When the countdown reaches zero with auto-repeat off, the alarm sounds and the time resets. When auto-repeat is on, the alarm sounds, and the countdown restarts immediately without stopping. You can stop an auto-repeat countdown by pressing D and reset it with A.
To Turn Auto-Repeat On and Off
- In Countdown Timer Mode, press A. The hours digits will flash.
- Press B to toggle auto-repeat on (AUTO displayed) or off (AUTO not displayed). Note: Pressing B here also activates the backlight.
The auto-repeat indicator is shown only in Countdown Timer Mode.
Stopwatch
The stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times, and two finishes, with a capacity of 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. For the first 60 minutes, it displays minutes, seconds, and 1/100 second. After 60 minutes, it displays hours, minutes, and seconds.
To Measure Times with the Stopwatch
- Elapsed Time: Press D to start, D to stop, D to re-start, D to stop again, and A to clear.
- Split Time: Press D to start, A to record a split time (SPL displayed), A to release the split time, D to stop, and A to clear.
- Two Finishes: Press D to start, A to record the first runner's finish time, A to display the second runner's finish time, D to stop, and A to clear.
Reference
This section provides detailed technical information and operational precautions. Key features include:
- Auto Return Feature: If no operation is performed for two to three minutes while digits are flashing, the watch automatically saves settings and exits the setting screen.
- Data and Setting Scrolling: The D button scrolls through setting data. Holding D speeds up the scrolling.
