Installing Your New Appliance
Adequate Ventilation
Ensure adequate clearance for air circulation:
- 30mm on each side.
- 30mm above the refrigerator.
- 50mm minimum / 75mm maximum behind the refrigerator.
Note: Doors are designed to sit proud of cabinetry. The clearance at the rear must not exceed 75mm.
For WRM2400/WFM1700, if a cupboard above has a rear gap less than 100mm (Y), the minimum clearance at the top increases from 30mm to 70mm (X).
Installing Your Refrigerator or Freezer
- Move the appliance to its final position.
- Ensure the appliance tilts back slightly (10-15mm from vertical) so the door gravitates to close. Adjust front levelling legs anticlockwise to increase height if needed. If difficult, tilt the appliance back for access. Additional packing may be required if levelling legs are fully extended.
- Compare appliance alignment to surrounding cupboards. Ensure the top is level side-to-side using levelling feet.
- If the appliance rocks from corner to corner, the floor may be uneven. Use thin, solid packing material under the rear of the appliance.
- Fine-tune installation by repeating steps 2, 3, and 4.
- Wipe off dust and clean according to page 17 instructions.
- Plug the appliance into the power point. Do not use a double adaptor or extension cord.
- Allow the appliance to run for 1-2 hours (3 hours for a freezer) before loading food to ensure correct operation and temperature.
CAUTION: Rollers are for forward/backward movement only, not castors. Moving sideways may damage floors and rollers.
Initial Start-Up - Fridges
Refrigerator models WRM1400 & WRM2400 feature a 'wet wall' evaporator behind the rear liner, which may appear wet or frosted; this is normal. The product operates on 220/240 volts 50Hz. Connect to a separate, earthed three-pin socket. Do not use double adaptors.
Controlling the Temperature
Refrigerators transfer heat from food to the outside air, making the back and sides feel warm, especially at start-up. Ensure the door is fully closed to prevent heavy frost in the ice box. Shelves must be pushed back completely.
If the unit is unplugged or power is lost, wait 3-5 minutes before restarting. The appliance will not operate if the thermostat is turned past its lowest setting.
WARNING: Power is still supplied to the appliance.
WRM2400 Temperature Control: Located on the right of the refrigerator compartment. Setting 0 is Off. Clockwise rotation turns it on. Setting 1 is warmest, Setting 7 is coldest.
WIM1000/WIM1200 Temperature Control: Adjusting the control knobs adjusts temperature in both fridge and freezer compartments. For ambient room temperature of 16°C, setting halfway between 'Less Cold' and 'Off' is recommended. For 25°C, halfway between 'Off' and 'Colder' is recommended.
Make small adjustments and wait 24 hours to assess temperature changes.
IMPORTANT: Turning the knob to 'colder' can lead to more energy efficiency.
IMPORTANT: High ambient temperatures and cold settings may cause continuous compressor operation.
De-icing
The de-icing system for WIM1200, WRM1400, and WRM2400 is automatic. Frost forms on the rear inside when the compressor operates and de-ices when it stops. Water evaporates automatically.
Ice Box Models (WIM1000 & WIM1200)
The ice box compartment is recommended for making ice only, not for storing frozen food.
Making Ice
Fill the ice tray with water and place it in the ice box. To remove ice cubes easily, run water on the tray, gently twist, and invert the tray.
De-icing the Ice Box
De-ice when frost reaches 4mm thickness, or at least once a year. Model WIM1000 has a drip tray. Use a scraper or plastic utensil; never metal instruments or electrical appliances.
- Switch off and disconnect the appliance.
- Remove the plug from the drain (WIM1000).
- Place a container under the drain hole.
- To speed up, place a bowl of hot water inside and close the door.
- After de-icing, clean the appliance before restoring power.
Initial Start-Up - Freezer (WFM0900)
Clean and wipe the freezer inside and out with a dry cloth before use. Operates on 220/240 volts 50Hz. Connect to a separate, earthed three-pin socket. Do not use double adaptors.
General Information
The freezer transfers heat to the outside air, making the cabinet feel warm, which is normal. Ensure the door is fully closed to prevent heavy frost. Baskets/bins must be pushed fully in.
If unplugged or power is lost, wait 5 minutes before restarting.
Features and General Hints
- Avoid leaving the door open for too long, especially in humid climates.
- Wrap food in freezer bags.
- Do not store corned or pickled products (containing salts) unless thoroughly sealed, as salts cause metal oxidisation.
- Door opening resistance may occur after recent openings; wait a minute or two for air pressure to stabilise.
- If going away for an extended period, turn off, unplug, remove food, dry thoroughly, and leave the door open.
- In case of power failure, keep the door closed. Frozen foods stay frozen for up to 24 hours.
- For safe food storage, run the freezer for 3 hours with the door closed before stocking. Wait until the next day to purchase additional food.
WARNING: Do not touch freezer shelf surfaces with damp or wet hands due to extremely low temperatures.
Controls
The temperature control is on the top right of the cabinet (WFM0900). Leave the control knob in the 'Mid' position initially. Turn clockwise for colder temperatures. The appliance will not operate if the thermostat is turned past its lowest setting.
Defrosting
Defrost when frost is approximately 6mm thick. Complete defrosting is recommended at least twice a year.
- Switch off power and unplug.
- Remove frozen food, wrap in newspaper, and place in a cool box.
- Leave the door open and wait for frost to soften. Pans of hot water can speed this up.
- Place towels and a container to catch water at the bottom.
- Scrape softened frost with a plastic scraper.
- After defrosting, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth, then dry.
- Reconnect power and switch on.
- Replace frozen food.
WARNING: Never use electric heaters or hair dryers for defrosting.
CAUTION: Do not use sharp tools to remove ice.
Initial Start-Up - Freezer (WFM1700)
The control panel is located inside the freezer. The appliance operates on 220/240 volts 50Hz. Connect to a separate, earthed three-pin socket. Do not use double adaptors.
Controlling the Temperature
IMPORTANT: Normally set temperature to -18°C.
CAUTION: The displayed temperature is an average; actual compartment temperatures may vary.
Mode: SUPER FREEZE
Super Freeze quickly lowers the temperature to freeze food faster, preserving vitamins and nutrients. Press the "TEMP°C/Super freeze 3sec" button for 3 seconds to activate. The screen will display "-24" and an indicator will be on. For maximum freezing capacity, switch on Super Freeze 24 hours before adding fresh products. It automatically quits after 52 hours.
To switch off Super Freeze, press the "TEMP°C/Super freeze 3sec" button again.
TEMP°C Control
Press the "TEMP°C/Super freeze 3sec" button to cycle through temperature settings: -14°C to -24°C.
Door Alarm
If the door remains open for over 1 minute, an alarm will sound and an indicator will flash. Press the "ALARM" button to silence the buzzer; the indicator will remain on but stop flashing. Close the door to clear the alarm. Avoid keeping the door open for extended periods to save energy.
