Installing Your New Appliance

Adequate Ventilation

Ensure adequate clearance for air circulation:

Note: Doors are designed to sit proud of cabinetry. The clearance at the rear must not exceed 75mm.

For WRM2400/WFM1700, if a cupboard above has a rear gap less than 100mm (Y), the minimum clearance at the top increases from 30mm to 70mm (X).

Installing Your Refrigerator or Freezer

  1. Move the appliance to its final position.
  2. Ensure the appliance tilts back slightly (10-15mm from vertical) so the door gravitates to close. Adjust front levelling legs anticlockwise to increase height if needed. If difficult, tilt the appliance back for access. Additional packing may be required if levelling legs are fully extended.
  3. Compare appliance alignment to surrounding cupboards. Ensure the top is level side-to-side using levelling feet.
  4. If the appliance rocks from corner to corner, the floor may be uneven. Use thin, solid packing material under the rear of the appliance.
  5. Fine-tune installation by repeating steps 2, 3, and 4.
  6. Wipe off dust and clean according to page 17 instructions.
  7. Plug the appliance into the power point. Do not use a double adaptor or extension cord.
  8. Allow the appliance to run for 1-2 hours (3 hours for a freezer) before loading food to ensure correct operation and temperature.

CAUTION: Rollers are for forward/backward movement only, not castors. Moving sideways may damage floors and rollers.

Initial Start-Up - Fridges

Refrigerator models WRM1400 & WRM2400 feature a 'wet wall' evaporator behind the rear liner, which may appear wet or frosted; this is normal. The product operates on 220/240 volts 50Hz. Connect to a separate, earthed three-pin socket. Do not use double adaptors.

Controlling the Temperature

Refrigerators transfer heat from food to the outside air, making the back and sides feel warm, especially at start-up. Ensure the door is fully closed to prevent heavy frost in the ice box. Shelves must be pushed back completely.

If the unit is unplugged or power is lost, wait 3-5 minutes before restarting. The appliance will not operate if the thermostat is turned past its lowest setting.

WARNING: Power is still supplied to the appliance.

WRM2400 Temperature Control: Located on the right of the refrigerator compartment. Setting 0 is Off. Clockwise rotation turns it on. Setting 1 is warmest, Setting 7 is coldest.

WIM1000/WIM1200 Temperature Control: Adjusting the control knobs adjusts temperature in both fridge and freezer compartments. For ambient room temperature of 16°C, setting halfway between 'Less Cold' and 'Off' is recommended. For 25°C, halfway between 'Off' and 'Colder' is recommended.

Make small adjustments and wait 24 hours to assess temperature changes.

IMPORTANT: Turning the knob to 'colder' can lead to more energy efficiency.

IMPORTANT: High ambient temperatures and cold settings may cause continuous compressor operation.

De-icing

The de-icing system for WIM1200, WRM1400, and WRM2400 is automatic. Frost forms on the rear inside when the compressor operates and de-ices when it stops. Water evaporates automatically.

Ice Box Models (WIM1000 & WIM1200)

The ice box compartment is recommended for making ice only, not for storing frozen food.

Making Ice

Fill the ice tray with water and place it in the ice box. To remove ice cubes easily, run water on the tray, gently twist, and invert the tray.

De-icing the Ice Box

De-ice when frost reaches 4mm thickness, or at least once a year. Model WIM1000 has a drip tray. Use a scraper or plastic utensil; never metal instruments or electrical appliances.

  1. Switch off and disconnect the appliance.
  2. Remove the plug from the drain (WIM1000).
  3. Place a container under the drain hole.
  4. To speed up, place a bowl of hot water inside and close the door.
  5. After de-icing, clean the appliance before restoring power.

Initial Start-Up - Freezer (WFM0900)

Clean and wipe the freezer inside and out with a dry cloth before use. Operates on 220/240 volts 50Hz. Connect to a separate, earthed three-pin socket. Do not use double adaptors.

General Information

The freezer transfers heat to the outside air, making the cabinet feel warm, which is normal. Ensure the door is fully closed to prevent heavy frost. Baskets/bins must be pushed fully in.

If unplugged or power is lost, wait 5 minutes before restarting.

Features and General Hints

WARNING: Do not touch freezer shelf surfaces with damp or wet hands due to extremely low temperatures.

Controls

The temperature control is on the top right of the cabinet (WFM0900). Leave the control knob in the 'Mid' position initially. Turn clockwise for colder temperatures. The appliance will not operate if the thermostat is turned past its lowest setting.

Defrosting

Defrost when frost is approximately 6mm thick. Complete defrosting is recommended at least twice a year.

  1. Switch off power and unplug.
  2. Remove frozen food, wrap in newspaper, and place in a cool box.
  3. Leave the door open and wait for frost to soften. Pans of hot water can speed this up.
  4. Place towels and a container to catch water at the bottom.
  5. Scrape softened frost with a plastic scraper.
  6. After defrosting, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth, then dry.
  7. Reconnect power and switch on.
  8. Replace frozen food.

WARNING: Never use electric heaters or hair dryers for defrosting.

CAUTION: Do not use sharp tools to remove ice.

Initial Start-Up - Freezer (WFM1700)

The control panel is located inside the freezer. The appliance operates on 220/240 volts 50Hz. Connect to a separate, earthed three-pin socket. Do not use double adaptors.

Controlling the Temperature

IMPORTANT: Normally set temperature to -18°C.

CAUTION: The displayed temperature is an average; actual compartment temperatures may vary.

Mode: SUPER FREEZE

Super Freeze quickly lowers the temperature to freeze food faster, preserving vitamins and nutrients. Press the "TEMP°C/Super freeze 3sec" button for 3 seconds to activate. The screen will display "-24" and an indicator will be on. For maximum freezing capacity, switch on Super Freeze 24 hours before adding fresh products. It automatically quits after 52 hours.

To switch off Super Freeze, press the "TEMP°C/Super freeze 3sec" button again.

TEMP°C Control

Press the "TEMP°C/Super freeze 3sec" button to cycle through temperature settings: -14°C to -24°C.

Door Alarm

If the door remains open for over 1 minute, an alarm will sound and an indicator will flash. Press the "ALARM" button to silence the buzzer; the indicator will remain on but stop flashing. Close the door to clear the alarm. Avoid keeping the door open for extended periods to save energy.

Changing Over the Ice Box Door (WIM1200 Only)

  1. Keep the freezer compartment door closed. Remove the mount screw for the installation button and take it down.
  2. Open the freezer compartment door slightly. Pull down the door and the cap covering the upper door bearing.
  3. Using a screwdriver, remove the installation buckle and fix it on the opposite side.
  4. Turn the freezer compartment door through 180°, cover the cap on the upper door bearing, then fit the door into the upper door axle hole.
  5. Keep the freezer compartment door closed. Fix the installation button to the lower door bearing, ensuring no gap with the cavity, then fix the screw.

WARNING: Ensure the appliance is not connected to the mains when changing door opening direction. Remove the plug beforehand.

Note: Use screw hole covers to decorate screw holes.

Reversing the Door Opening Direction (WRM2400 & WFM1700)

The door opening side can be changed from right to left if installation requires.

WARNING: Ensure the appliance is not connected to the mains. Remove the plug beforehand.

Tools Required

Note: If required, lay the refrigerator on its back on soft foam packaging to avoid damaging the backboard.

  1. Prize off the top left corner screw cover and the upper hinge cover.
  2. Unscrew the left upper hinge part using an 8mm socket driver or spanner, supporting the door with your hand.
  3. Remove the upper hinge axis, transfer it to the reversed side, and tighten securely.
  4. Remove the door from the lower hinge, noting any washers between the hinge and door.
  5. Place the door on a smooth surface with its panel upwards. Loosen screws 1 and part 2, then install them to the left side and tighten securely.
  6. Lay the refrigerator on soft foam packaging. Remove adjustable bottom feet parts and the lower hinge part by unscrewing self-tapping screws.

  2. Remove the four screws as shown in the diagram. Remove the top hinge and keep for reassembly.
  3. Lift the door and place it on a padded surface. Remove both adjustable feet and the bottom hinge bracket by unscrewing bolts. Transfer them to the other side.
  4. Set the door into its new place, ensuring the pin enters the bushing at the lower frame section. Replace the lid by fitting the upper hinge into the upper door's hole, securing it with two screws. Replace another two screws on the other side.
  5. Replace the top cover and tighten the screws on the back.

Note: 1. Move the hinge pin from hole 1 to 2 before transfer. 2. Install the foot on the side which does not have a hinge.

Lamp Replacement (WIM1000)

  1. Switch off power at the power point and unplug the cord.
  2. Slide out the drip tray from beneath the ice box.
  3. Unscrew the light bulb anticlockwise.
  4. Screw the replacement bulb clockwise into the socket.
  5. Replace the drip tray.
  6. Wait 5 minutes for system pressures to equalize before turning the refrigerator on.

WARNING: Never insert your finger into the light bulb socket.

TIPS AND INFORMATION: Not all 15-watt screw-in lamps fit the housing. Purchase appropriate replacements from Electrolux or call 13 13 50.

Lamp Replacement (WIM1200, WRM1400 & WRM2400)

Models WIM1200 and WRM1400 are fitted with LED lights. These are not user serviceable and require replacement by an authorised service centre. Standard service call and labour charges apply.

General Information

Cleaning the Refrigerator

WARNING: BEFORE CLEANING: Turn off power at the power point and unplug the cord.

CAUTION:

What to Do Before Calling for Service

PROBLEMSOLUTION
Refrigerator is not operating
  • Check power cord is plugged in and outlet is switched 'ON'.
  • Try another appliance from the outlet; if it doesn't work, check household fuse or circuit breaker.
Refrigerator/freezer noise
  • Try adjusting the temperature control to a slightly "colder" position.
  • Modern appliances have high-speed compressors that produce normal operational sounds: gurgling, air flow noise, popping during defrost, clicking before compressor starts.
  • Other sounds may indicate: cabinet not level, uneven floor, badly placed bottles, vibrations from nearby objects, or the back of the cabinet touching the wall.
  • Noise may seem louder just after starting.
Heavy frosting in the freezer
  • Ensure freezer and fridge doors are fully closed. If frost develops, remove it and ensure doors close properly.
Odours inside the refrigerator
  • The interior may need cleaning.
  • Some foods, containers, or wrapping can produce odours. Check if the odour started with a new item.
