Product Components
The SumUp payment system typically includes a card reader and a printer base. Key components are identified by letters in diagrams:
- A: Represents the card reader unit, which has a screen and a keypad.
- B: Represents the printer base unit, which houses the printer and charging port.
- C: Indicates the paper roll compartment on the printer.
- D: Shows accessories like charging cables and potentially a power adapter.
- E: Depicts the payment terminal and its accessories, including a charging dock.
- F: Illustrates the various payment methods accepted, including contactless (NFC), chip cards, and magnetic stripe cards, as well as digital wallets like Google Pay and Apple Pay. Logos shown include Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Discover, and Union Pay.
Taking Out / Putting In the Card Reader
Follow these steps to remove or insert the card reader from/into the printer base:
- Locate the release mechanism on the printer base.
- Press or slide the release mechanism while gently lifting or pulling the card reader (A) away from the printer base (B).
- To reinsert, align the card reader with the docking port on the printer base and push down until it clicks into place.
Loading the Printer Paper
To load paper into the SumUp printer:
- Step 1: Shows a new roll of paper.
- Step 2: Illustrates opening the printer cover and inserting the paper roll (C) into the designated slot, ensuring the paper feeds correctly.
- Step 3: Shows the correct placement of the paper roll and the paper emerging from the slot. An 'X' symbol [❌] indicates incorrect paper loading.
Ensure the paper is loaded with the print side facing the correct direction, as indicated by the diagram.
Powering On the Devices
To power on your SumUp devices:
- Left side: Illustrates connecting the power adapter to the printer base (B) and then plugging it into a power outlet. A power button symbol [▶️] is shown on the printer.
- Right side: Shows the card reader (A) docked onto the printer base. The screen of the card reader displays the SumUp logo and a keypad.
Press the power button [▶️] on the printer base to turn on the system. The card reader will typically power on automatically when docked or when its power button is pressed.
Charging the Solo Printer and the Card Reader
Keep your SumUp devices charged for continuous operation.
- Left side: Shows a hand connecting a charging cable (D) to the charging port (B) on the printer base. The card reader (A) is shown docked.
- Right side: Shows the card reader screen displaying a charging indicator (e.g., "8% ⚡"). A charging cable (D) is connected to the card reader (A) or its dock.
Use the provided SumUp charging cable and adapter. Connect the cable to the designated port on the printer base or directly to the card reader if it supports direct charging.
Using the Solo Printer as a Power Bank
The SumUp Solo printer can also function as a power bank to charge other devices.
To use the printer as a power bank, connect your device's charging cable to the appropriate port on the SumUp Solo printer. The printer will then supply power to the connected device.
Double-Sided Door Sticker
Display your accepted payment methods clearly with the SumUp double-sided door sticker.
This sticker helps inform customers which payment methods are accepted, enhancing customer confidence and convenience.
Setting Up the Counter Top Display
Enhance your point-of-sale with the SumUp counter top display stand.
Position the display stand at your counter to clearly show customers the payment options available. The stand is designed to hold information about accepted cards and digital wallets.
