02 Overview

Front View

The front of the gimbal features:

• 1 Phone Clamp: Secures the smartphone.
• 2 Folding Lock: Mechanism to keep the gimbal folded.
• 3 Folding Arm: The main articulated arm of the gimbal.
• 4 Mounting Hole: For attaching accessories or folding.
• 5 Built-in Extension Rod: Extends the reach of the gimbal.
• 6 Side Wheel: Used for zoom or roll control.

Magnetic Remote Controller

The remote controller includes:

• Joystick: Controls tilt and pan axis.
• Adjustment Button: Controls zoom or roll rotation.
• Function Button: Used for recentering, switching camera orientation, re-pairing, and entering All Lock Mode.
• Mode Button: Switches between working modes, landscape/portrait, and auto 180° roll.
• Shutter Button: Takes photos or starts/stops recording, switches modes, switches cameras, and powers the remote on/off.
• Type-C Charging Port: For charging the remote.
• Indicators: Adjustment Indicator, Bluetooth Indicator, Working Mode Indicator, Gimbal Battery Indicator, Remote Connection Indicator.

Back View

The back of the gimbal features:

• 22 Roll Motor: Controls the roll axis.
• 23 Tilt Motor: Controls the tilt axis.
• 24 Pan Motor: Controls the pan axis.
• 25 Hex Screw: For securing the pan motor base.
• 26 Power Button: Turns the gimbal on/off.
• 27 Trigger: Used for recentering, switching orientation, and entering lock modes.
• 28 Type-C Charging Port: For charging the gimbal.
• 29 Handle: Grip for holding the gimbal.
• 30 1/4"-20 Screw Hole: For mounting accessories.

Note: If the pan motor's base is loose, use the included hex key to tighten the hex screw clockwise.

03 Charging

Fully charge the iSteady X3 SE+ before first use. Use the provided USB-C cable to connect to the Type-C charging port on the gimbal handle. A 5V-2A USB charger is recommended (not included).

Charging Status Indicators:

• Battery indicator light flashing slowly: Charging in progress.
• Battery indicator light solid green: Charging complete.

Indicator light colors represent different battery levels (refer to Section 09 for details).

04 Unfolding & Folding

Compatible Smartphones

Dimensions: Up to 7 inches screen size.

Weight: Up to 300g.

Width: 58mm - 98mm.

Thickness: Up to 12.5 mm.

Unfolding & Mounting

1. Pull the arm as shown.

2. Stretch the phone clamp to fit your smartphone's width and attach it to the center of the phone.

3. Press and hold the power button to turn on/off.

Important Notes:

• Do not power on the gimbal without mounting a phone.
• Ensure the phone is centered during startup to optimize battery life. The gimbal may enter standby if unbalanced or unloaded.
• Avoid touching the pogo pins with fingers to prevent poor contact.

Folding

Ensure the gimbal is powered off before folding.

Remove the phone. Hold the handle, fold the arm downward, and secure the folding lock with the mounting hole.

05 Usage Modes

The iSteady X3 SE+ offers two primary usage modes: Handheld Mode and Remote Mode.

Handheld Mode

Simply unfold the gimbal for convenient, on-the-go shooting.

Extended Mode

Pull out the built-in extension rod upwards and adjust the hinge angle for preferred shooting positions. The extension rod has three segments and can extend up to 205mm. The hinge angle can be adjusted from 0° to 90°. It is recommended to retract the extension rod after use to prevent deformation.

Remote Mode

Fully pull out the legs, unfold the gimbal, and stand it on a desktop. Remove the remote controller for long-distance shooting. Ensure Bluetooth is connected.

06 Bluetooth Connection

1. Ensure the gimbal is powered on.

2. Activate Bluetooth on your smartphone.

3. Open the Hohem Joy App and select the device named "SX3S-XXXXXX" from the list of available devices.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect and pair. A steady light on the Bluetooth indicator signifies a successful connection.

07 Buttons & Working Mode

Gimbal Buttons

• Power Button: Long press for power on/off; double press to enter/exit standby mode; press five times to enter auto calibration.
• Side Wheel: Scroll up to zoom in, scroll down to zoom out (requires Hohem Joy App connection). Press five times to re-pair the remote control; press seven times to clear Bluetooth connection.
• Trigger: Double press to recenter the gimbal; triple press to switch between forward/backward-facing camera; long press to enter All Lock Mode (release to exit).
• Type-C Charging Port: Connect to power for charging.
• 1/4"-20 Screw Hole: Connect to accessories like a tripod.

Working Modes

The iSteady X3 SE+ features four working modes, utilizing its three rotation axes (pan, tilt, roll):

• Pan Follow Mode (PF): Pan axis follows; Roll and Tilt axes are inactive. Smoothly follows horizontal movements while keeping tilt and roll steady.
• Pan and Tilt Follow Mode (PTF): Pan and Tilt axes follow; Roll axis is inactive. Follows horizontal and vertical movements for dynamic framing, maintaining horizon level.
• Point of View Mode (POV): All three axes (Roll, Tilt, Pan) follow. Captures movement in all directions, offering a first-person perspective.
• All Lock Mode (L): All three axes are inactive. The phone's orientation remains fixed regardless of gimbal movement.

Press the Mode Button on the remote control to switch between working modes.

08 Remote Control Operation

Note: When attached to the gimbal, the remote powers on and pairs automatically. If detached, power it on separately; it will auto-pair.

• Joystick: Push vertically/horizontally to control tilt and pan axis. Double press to switch between zoom and roll control.
• Adjustment Button: Long press to control zoom or roll rotation (requires Hohem Joy App).
• Function Button: Double press to recenter; triple press to switch camera orientation; press five times to re-pair remote; press seven times to clear connection; long press to enter All Lock Mode (release to exit).
• Mode Button: Single press to switch working modes; double press to switch landscape/portrait; triple press for auto 180° roll; press five times for auto calibration.
• Shutter Button: Single press to take photo/start/stop recording; double press to switch photo/video mode; triple press to switch front/rear cameras; long press for remote power on/off.

Notes:

• Features like zoom and camera switching require Bluetooth connection to a smartphone via the Hohem Joy App.
• The remote can simultaneously power the gimbal on/off when attached.

09 Indicators

Gimbal Handle Indicators

• Bluetooth Indicator: Solid light: Bluetooth connected. Quick flash: Bluetooth pairing cleared. Slow flash: Gimbal firmware updating. Off: Bluetooth disconnected.
• Gimbal Battery Indicator: Solid light (green): 50%-100% battery. Solid light (yellow): 20%-50% battery. Solid light (red): Low battery. Quick flash: Shutting down soon. Flashing slowly (various colors): Charging.
• Remote Connection Indicator: Solid light: Remote connected. Quick flash: Gimbal power on/off. Slow flash alternately: Remote control re-pairing. Off: Remote control disconnected. Slow flash: Gimbal overloading. Solid light: Gimbal firmware anomaly. Pulse: Gimbal standby.

Remote Control Indicators

• Adjustment Indicator: Solid light: Roll rotation control. Off: Zoom in/out.
• Bluetooth Indicator: Solid light: Bluetooth connected. Quick flash: Bluetooth pairing cleared. Slow flash: Gimbal firmware updating. Off: Bluetooth disconnected.
• Working Mode Indicator: Slow flash: Auto Calibration. Pulse: Gimbal standby.
• Gimbal Battery Indicator: Solid light (green): 50%-100% battery. Solid light (yellow): 20%-50% battery. Solid light (red): Low battery. Quick flash: Gimbal shutting down soon. Flashing slowly (various colors): Charging.

10 Hohem Joy App

Downloading

Scan the QR code or search "Hohem Joy" in the App Store or Google Play to download the app.

Gimbal Connection

1. Attach your smartphone and turn on the iSteady X3 SE+.

2. Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone.

3. Open the Hohem Joy App and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection.

Camera Interface

The app provides various controls:

• Shooting Parameters: Set shutter speed, ISO, and EV.
• Resolution and Frame Rate: Set video resolution and frame rate.
• Flash: Adjust flash settings.
• General Settings: Access gimbal and camera parameters, and view gimbal information.
• Creative Studio: Provides shooting tutorials and ideas.
• Filter: Select photo or video filters.
• Beauty: Apply auto, slim face, or big eyes beauty modes.
• Gesture Control: Enables person tracking and shutter control. For animal or object tracking, use box selection on the screen.
• Moment Templates: Use pre-designed video templates for automatic video creation.

11 Auto Calibration & Firmware Update

Auto Calibration

Auto calibration helps reduce drift or deviation caused by magnetic interference or human error.

1. Place the gimbal on a hard, flat surface after setup and power on.

2. Press the trigger button twice to recenter the gimbal.

3. Press the Power Button five times to enter auto calibration mode.

4. A single "beep" indicates successful calibration.

Note:

• Ensure the remote control is connected during calibration.
• Calibration may fail if the gimbal is not on a flat surface.
• If calibration fails (two beeps, pulsing indicators), double-tap the power button to exit standby and retry.

Firmware Update

The Hohem Joy App will notify you if a new firmware update is available. Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to update.

15 Warranty Terms

1. Customers are entitled to replacement service for quality deficits or functional disorders found within fifteen (15) calendar days of receiving the product.

2. The valid warranty period is 12 months from the date of sale under normal use. Accessories are excluded. Warranty does not cover damage from force majeure, collisions, burns, unauthorized repairs/modifications, foreign objects (water, oil, sand), or improper installation/use. Paid repair services may be available for such issues.

3. Keep and present the warranty card for claiming warranty service.
