iFi ZEN CAN Studio
Balanced Headphone Amplifier
Product Overview
Thank you for purchasing the ZEN CAN Studio from the ZEN series. The ZEN CAN Studio is a balanced headphone amplifier.
Key Features and Controls:
- 1. Power Switch: Short press to turn on or off.
- 2. Input Selector: Choose between Input 1 (Balanced XLR / 6.3mm), Input 2 (Single-ended 3.5mm), and Input 3 (Balanced 4.4mm).
- 3. Gain Selection: Adjust gain levels with 0dB, 6dB, 12dB, or 18dB options. It is recommended to start at 0dB and increase gradually for optimal volume.
- 4. Analogue Volume Control: For normal listening, the volume control should be positioned around the 12 o'clock mark. Increase gain for higher listening levels.
- 5. Single-ended 6.3mm Output: Connect single-ended 6.3mm headphones here. For 3.5mm headphones, use a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter.
- 6. Balanced 4.4mm Analogue Output: Connect balanced 4.4mm headphones.
- 7. Mono Left Mode LED: Illuminates when only the left input channel is routed to both left and right outputs.
- 8. Mono Right Mode LED: Illuminates when only the right input channel is routed to both left and right outputs.
- 9. MONO Settings: This button cycles through Stereo, Mono L, Mono R, and Mono L+R (short press). When both L and R LEDs are lit, the unit is in Mono L+R mode. When neither LED is lit, the unit is in Stereo mode. Refer to items 7 and 8 for details.
Rear Panel Connections
- 10. Balanced 4.4mm Analogue Input: For balanced analogue input signals.
- 11. Single-ended 3.5mm Analogue Input: For connecting single-ended 3.5mm sources.
- 12. Balanced XLR / 6.3mm (Combi Jack) Analogue Input: This input supports both balanced analogue signals and single-ended connections via the 6.3mm jack.
- 13. Balanced 4.4mm Analogue Output: An analogue output via 4.4mm to XLR or other balanced interconnects, suitable for active speakers. As the ZEN CAN Studio is balanced, this is the recommended output.
- 14. Power Cable Anti-Drop Pendant: A feature to secure the power cable, preventing accidental disconnection.
- 15. DC 5V Power: Connect the included 5V power supply here. The ZEN CAN Studio must only be powered by 5 volts.
