Introduction

This Easy Setup Guide explains how to connect the DVD player, TV, speakers, and sub woofer so you can enjoy multi-channel surround sound from the DVD player. For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the receiver.

Speaker System Connections

Speaker Labels (A-G):

• A: Front speaker (left) (Enceinte avant (gauche) / Altavoz delantero (izquierdo) / 前揚聲器(左))
• B: Front speaker (right) (Enceinte avant (droite) / Altavoz delantero (derecho) / 前揚聲器(右))
• C: Center speaker (Enceinte centrale / Altavoz central / 中央揚聲器)
• D: Sub woofer (Caisson de grave / Altavoz del altavoz de graves / 副低音揚聲器)
• E: Surround speaker (left) (Enceinte surround (gauche) / Altavoz perimétrico (izquierdo) / 環繞聲揚聲器(左))
• F: Surround speaker (right) (Enceinte surround (droite) / Altavoz perimétrico (derecho) / 環繞聲揚聲器(右))
• G: Surround back speaker (Enceinte surround arrière / Altavoz perimétrico trasero / 後環繞聲揚聲器)

Easy Setup Procedure

You can set up the speakers easily by selecting the speaker pattern. Use the buttons on the receiver for the operation.

1. Find your speaker pattern by referring to the illustration on the back page. You can use the flow chart on the back page.
2. Press ▶️ [power] to turn on the system.
3. Press MAIN MENU repeatedly to select "<SET UP>".
4. Press ◀️ or ▶️ [left/right arrow] repeatedly to select "EASY SET". If it does not appear, select "NORM SET" and press ➕ or ➖ [plus/minus] to select "EASY SET".
5. Press ◀️ or ▶️ [left/right arrow] repeatedly to select "SP. PAT. X–X".
6. Press ➕ or ➖ [plus/minus] repeatedly to select your speaker pattern, then press [enter].

Speaker Pattern Selection Guide

What is your speaker pattern? The speaker pattern depends on the number of speakers you have.

Flowchart Logic: Refer to the illustration at left. Follow the path based on whether you have the specified speakers.

Decision Points:

• Center Speaker: ✔️ [yes] / ❌ [no]
• Surround Speakers: ✔️ [yes] / ❌ [no]
• Surround Back Speakers: ✔️ [yes] / ❌ [no]
• Sub Woofer: ✔️ [yes] / ❌ [no]

Speaker Configurations and Corresponding Settings:

• 6 speakers and a sub woofer: If you have Center (C), Surround Speakers (E, F), Surround Back Speaker (G), and Sub Woofer (D) - Set to 6-1.
• 5 speakers and a sub woofer: If you have Center (C), Surround Speakers (E, F), and Sub Woofer (D) - Set to 5-1.
• 4 speakers: If you have Front Speakers (A, B) and Surround Speakers (E, F) - Set to 4-0.
• 3 speakers: If you have Front Speakers (A, B) and Center Speaker (C) - Set to 3-0.
• 2 speakers: If you have Front Speakers (A, B) - Set to 2-0.

Additional Configurations and Settings:

• Center (C), Surround Back (G), Sub Woofer (D) - Set to 4-0
• Center (C), Surround Speakers (E, F) - Set to 3-1
• Center (C), Sub Woofer (D) - Set to 5C0
• Center (C), Surround Back Speaker (G) - Set to 5C1
• Surround Speakers (E, F), Sub Woofer (D) - Set to 5-0
• Surround Back Speaker (G), Sub Woofer (D) - Set to 6-0
