Getting to Know Your 2016 Enclave

Review this Quick Reference Guide for an overview of some important features in your Buick Enclave. More detailed information can be found in your Owner Manual. Some optional equipment described in this guide may not be included in your vehicle. For easy reference, keep this guide with your Owner Manual in your glove box.

Instrument Panel

The instrument panel contains various controls and indicators for the vehicle.

Key Components:

  • Cruise Control Buttons/Heated Steering Wheel Button: Controls for cruise control and heated steering wheel.
  • Turn Signal Lever/Windshield Wipers Lever: Controls for turn signals and windshield wipers.
  • Driver Information Center: Displays vehicle information and alerts.
  • Audio Steering Wheel Controls: Controls for the audio system.
  • Exterior Lamps Control: Controls for exterior lighting.
  • Ambient Light Control: Adjusts interior ambient lighting.
  • Instrument Panel Illumination Control/Dome Lamp Off Button: Adjusts instrument panel brightness and controls dome lamps.
  • Tilt/Telescope Steering Wheel Lever: Adjusts the steering wheel position.

Symbols

Various symbols indicate vehicle status:

  • Low Fuel: Indicates low fuel level.
  • Traction Control Off: Indicates traction control system is off.
  • Engine Coolant Temperature: Displays engine coolant temperature.
  • BRAKE Brake System: Indicates brake system status.
  • Cruise Control Set: Indicates cruise control is set.
  • Low Tire Pressure: Indicates low tire pressure.
  • StabiliTrak Active: Indicates StabiliTrak system is active.
  • StabiliTrak Off: Indicates StabiliTrak system is off.
  • Security: Indicates security system status.
  • Check Engine: Indicates a potential engine issue.

Center Console and Dashboard Controls

The center console and dashboard house controls for various vehicle functions.

Key Components:

  • Driver Information Center Buttons: Buttons to navigate the Driver Information Center.
  • Audio System/Navigation System: Controls for audio playback and navigation.
  • Hazard Warning Flashers Button: Activates hazard lights.
  • Lane Departure Warning Button/Forward Collision Alert Button: Controls for lane departure warning and forward collision alert systems.
  • Driver's Heated/Cooled Seat Buttons: Controls for front seat heating and cooling.
  • USB Port: For connecting portable devices.
  • Rear Wiper Switch/Traction Control Off Button/Tow/Haul Mode Button/Power Liftgate Switch: Various controls for rear wiper, traction control, towing mode, and power liftgate.
  • Accessory Power Outlet: Provides power for accessories.
  • Passenger's Heated/Cooled Seat Buttons: Controls for front passenger seat heating and cooling.
  • Climate Controls: Manages the vehicle's climate system.

Additional Symbols

  • Oil Pressure: Indicates oil pressure status.
  • Charging System: Indicates charging system status.
  • Safety Belt Reminder: Alerts if safety belts are not fastened.
  • Airbag Readiness: Indicates airbag system status.
  • Antilock Brake System (ABS): Indicates ABS status.
  • Side Blind Zone Alert: Alerts to vehicles in blind spots.

Front Seats

The front seats offer power and manual adjustments for comfort.

Power Seats

A. Seat Adjustment: Use the horizontal control to move the seat forward/rearward and adjust height/tilt.

B. Seatback Recline Adjustment: Use the vertical control to recline or raise the seatback.

C. Lumbar Adjustment: Press the switch to adjust lumbar support.

Manual Lumbar

D. Lumbar Adjustment: Use the lever on the seatback to adjust lumbar support.

Head Restraints

Driver and front passenger head restraints are adjustable. Press the button on the left side of the head restraint to raise, lower, or move it rearward. Pull forward to move the head restraint forward.

2nd-Row Seats

The second-row seats provide access to the third row and can be adjusted for comfort.

Enter or Exit the 3rd-Row Seats

  1. Ensure the floor and seat area are clear.
  2. Fold up armrests and unfasten safety belts.
  3. Rotate release lever (A) forward.
  4. Push the seatback forward; the seat cushion will fold and the seat will slide forward.
  5. After entering/exiting, push the seatback rearward until it locks.
  6. Push down on the rear of the seat cushion to lock it in place.

Slide the Seat

  1. Ensure the floor area is clear.
  2. Pull handle (B) outward to slide the seat forward or rearward.
  3. Release the handle.

Fold/Recline the Seatback

  1. Ensure the seat is fully rearward, armrests are upright, and safety belts are unfastened.
  2. Pull strap (C) forward on the outboard side of the seatback.
  3. Fold down or recline the seatback.

Lighting

Controls for exterior and interior lighting are located on the instrument panel.

Exterior Lamps: Rotate the knob to control exterior lights.

  • Off/On
  • AUTO Automatic Headlamp System: Activates Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) and headlamps automatically.
  • Parking Lamps
  • Headlamps

Ambient Lighting

Press the button to turn ambient lighting on or off. Adjust instrument panel brightness with the knob. Headlamps must be on for ambient lighting to operate. Note: Only instrument panel ambient lighting can be turned off.

Interior Lighting

Instrument Panel Brightness: Press the small knob to extend it, then turn to adjust instrument panel lighting. Turn fully to activate dome lamps when doors are closed.

Dome Lamps

Dome Off: Press the button to turn off dome lamps. The indicator illuminates when off. Dome lamps will not turn on when a door is open. Press again to allow dome lamps to turn on when a door is open.

Audio Steering Wheel Controls

Controls on the steering wheel manage audio and cruise control functions.

Audio Controls

  • Volume: Pull the +/- buttons to adjust volume.
  • Source (SRCE): Selects audio source.
  • Next/Previous: Navigates through radio stations, tracks, or files.
  • Seek: Goes to the next radio station or track.
  • Push to Talk/Mute: Initiates voice recognition or mutes speakers.
  • End Call: Ends or rejects calls.

Cruise Control

Setting Cruise Control:

  1. Press the On/Off button. The Cruise Control symbol illuminates white.
  2. Press the SET/- button to set speed. The symbol illuminates green.

Adjusting Cruise Control:

  • RES/+ Resume/Accelerate: Resumes set speed or increases speed.
  • SET/- Set/Coast: Decreases speed.
  • Cancel: Cancels cruise control while retaining set speed. Pressing the brake pedal also cancels cruise control.

Cruise control set speed is erased when cruise control or ignition is turned off. See Driving and Operating in your Owner Manual.

Infotainment System

The infotainment system provides audio, navigation, and connectivity features.

Refer to your Owner Manual for important safety information about using the infotainment system while driving. The system is controlled via faceplate buttons, touch screen, voice recognition, and steering wheel controls.

Infotainment System Interface:

  • Volume/Power: Controls system power and volume.
  • Eject disc: Ejects media discs.
  • Applications: Accesses various applications via the touch screen.
  • Auxiliary input jack: Connects external audio devices.
  • Tune/Menu: Tunes radio stations and accesses menus.
  • FAV Display pages: Shows favorite radio stations.
  • SRCE Select the audio or media source.
  • Home page: Returns to the home screen.
  • BACK Move back one level in the menus.
  • Previous/Next radio station, track or file.

Setting the Time

  1. Touch the Time Display on the touch screen.
  2. Use the down or up screen buttons to adjust the time.
  3. Touch the OK screen button to confirm.

Storing Favorite Stations

Radio stations from AM, FM, or XM can be stored on up to six pages of favorites.

  1. Tune to the desired station.
  2. Press and hold a preset screen button until a beep is heard.
  3. Repeat for each station.

Portable Audio Devices

A USB port is located at the front of the center console for connecting devices like iPods®, iPhones®, MP3 players, USB flash drives, or USB mass storage devices. These devices can be controlled by the audio system.

Bluetooth® System

Pair your Bluetooth-enabled device with the vehicle's system for hands-free communication and audio streaming. Pairing is disabled when the vehicle is moving.

Pair a Phone:

  1. Press the Push to Talk button and say “Pair,” or navigate to Settings > Bluetooth Device List > New Device.
  2. Start pairing on your phone and locate IntelliLink.
  3. Enter or confirm the displayed code on your phone.
  4. Accept connection and phone book download prompts.

Buick IntelliLink

IntelliLink connects compatible devices via Bluetooth or USB for audio streaming and hands-free voice control. Music can also be played from a USB flash drive.

Voice Recognition: Use voice commands to control music and make calls after pairing your phone.

  • Press the Push to Talk button on the steering wheel.
  • Say your command after the prompt.

Phone (using your paired phone): Example: “Call Amanda” or “Dial 555-1212”

Media Music Device Search (USB only): Example: “Play artist [name]” or “Play song [name]”

Radio Control: Example: “Tune FM 104.3” or “Tune XM Classic Vinyl”

PANDORA® Internet Radio: Listen to personalized stations. Download the Pandora app, sign in, and connect your device via Bluetooth or USB. Touch the Pandora icon to access.

OnStar with 4G LTE

Connect up to seven devices to the vehicle's Wi-Fi hotspot for high-speed Internet.

To retrieve hotspot information, press the OnStar Voice Command button and say “Wi-Fi settings.”

Climate Controls

The climate control system manages interior temperature and air circulation.

Front Climate Controls:

  • Driver's Temperature Control: Adjusts driver's side temperature.
  • SYNC: Links all settings to the driver's setting.
  • AUTO Automatic operation: Automatically maintains set temperature.
  • Fan Speed Control/Off: Adjusts fan speed or turns off the system.
  • Activate Rear Climate Control operation: Engages rear climate controls.
  • Passenger's Temperature Control: Adjusts passenger's side temperature.
  • Vent Mode: Directs air to dashboard vents.
  • Floor Mode: Directs air to floor vents.
  • Defrost Mode: Directs air to windshield for defrosting.
  • Rear Window/Outside Mirror Defogger: Defogs rear window and mirrors.
  • Recirculation Mode: Recirculates interior air or prevents outside air entry.
  • A/C Air Conditioning Control: Activates air conditioning.
  • Bi-level Mode: Directs air to both dashboard and floor vents.
  • Defog Mode: Directs air to windshield for defogging.

Automatic Operation

  1. Press AUTO.
  2. Set temperatures for driver and passenger. Press SYNC to link settings. Allow time for the system to reach the desired temperature. Manual adjustments cancel automatic operation.

Recirculation Mode

Recirculation Mode cools the interior quickly or prevents outside odors. It is not available with Floor, Defog, or Defrost modes. Using Recirculation Mode without A/C can increase humidity and cause window fogging.

Rear Seat Climate Controls

Rear seat occupants can control their climate settings independently.

Front Seat Controls (for reference)

REAR Button (A): Activates rear climate control. REAR illuminates on fan and temperature controls.

Fan Control Knob (B): Adjusts rear fan speed. Turning to Off shuts down the system.

Temperature Control Knob (C): Adjusts rear climate temperature.

Note: Maximum system operation is achieved by turning on the rear system even if rear seats are unoccupied.

Rear Seat Controls

Rear seat occupants can adjust settings using the rear controls.

  • Fan Controls: Adjust fan speed.
  • Air Delivery Modes: Vent, Bi-level, Floor.
  • Temperature Controls: Adjust temperature.

Driver Assistance Systems

Advanced technologies help avoid collisions by providing alerts.

Lane Departure Warning

Alerts when crossing lane markings without a turn signal. An amber visual alert appears on the instrument cluster.

Press the Lane Departure Warning button (A) to turn the system on or off.

Forward Collision Alert

Alerts when approaching a vehicle too quickly. The Vehicle Ahead indicator shows green when a vehicle is detected and amber when following too closely. Collision alert flashes on the windshield and beeps rapidly if approaching too fast.

Press the Collision Alert button (B) to set alert sensitivity (Far, Medium, Near, or Off).

Side Blind Zone Alert

Displays a warning symbol on the side mirror when a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. The symbol flashes if a turn signal is activated.

Turn the system on or off via the Vehicle Information menu in the Driver Information Center.

Rear Vision Camera

Provides a view behind the vehicle when backing up. Guidelines and Rear Park Assist Symbols can be turned on/off in Settings > Rear Camera.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Warns of traffic approaching from the sides when in reverse, displaying an alert on the Rear Vision Camera display.

Turn the system on or off via the Vehicle Information menu in the Driver Information Center.

Rear Parking Assist

Provides audible beeps for detected objects when in Reverse. Beep interval shortens as the vehicle gets closer to an object. Continuous beeps occur at distances less than 12 inches (30 cm). Operates at speeds less than 5 mph.

Turn the system on or off via the Vehicle Information menu in the Driver Information Center.

Rear Wiper/Washer

Controls for the rear wiper and washer fluid are located on the instrument panel.

Power Liftgate

The power liftgate can be operated via a switch or the remote keyless entry transmitter.

Power Liftgate Switch

Press the Power Liftgate OFF switch to disable power operation; manual operation is then required. Press the top of the switch to turn power operation on.

Note: If the liftgate does not open or close, ensure the power liftgate switch is not in the Off position.

Open/Close the Power Liftgate

  • Remote Keyless Entry: Press and hold the Power Liftgate button on the transmitter until the liftgate moves.
  • Center Console Switch: Press the top of the switch.
  • Liftgate Handle: Press the touchpad (A) to open.
  • Liftgate Latch: Press the touchpad (B) next to the latch to close.

Wind Noise

Buffeting wind noise may occur if a rear window is open. Opening a front window slightly can prevent this.

Towing

The Enclave has a base towing capacity of 2,000 lbs, or 4,500 lbs with the Trailer Towing Package.

Use Tow/Haul mode when pulling a heavy trailer to optimize transmission shifts and vehicle speed control.

Press the Tow/Haul button on the center console to turn the mode on or off.

Battery Location

The battery is located beneath the floor behind the front passenger seat. Jump-start posts are under the hood on the passenger's side.

Tire Pressure Monitor

The Low Tire Pressure warning light illuminates when tires are significantly underinflated. Fill tires to the recommended pressures listed on the Tire and Loading Information label (below the driver's door latch).

Tire pressure is affected by temperature and driving. If the warning light illuminates in cool temperatures and then turns off as the vehicle warms up, check tire pressures.
