Pre-Installation
Planning Installation
Ensure the mounting location for your solar light allows the solar panel to receive direct sunlight. Do not locate the product in shaded areas, as this will significantly reduce performance. Position the solar light such that during evening hours, ambient light from other sources does not affect the photosensor built into the solar panel. High ambient light levels can cause the lamp to turn off during evening hours.
Note: The solar light is equipped with a photosensor that turns the unit on at dusk and off at dawn. Ambient light can affect the operation of the photosensor.

Installation
1. Installing the Solar Box in the Ground
Diagram Description: Illustrates the assembly process for ground installation, showing the ground stake (D), pole (C), pole connector (B), and solar assembly (A).
- Insert the ground stake (D) firmly into the ground at the installation location. If the ground is too hard, soak the ground with water to soften it or drive a metal rod or screwdriver into the ground to create a hole for the ground stake assembly.
- Connect the pole (C) to the ground stake (D).
- Slide the pole connector (B) into the mounting slot on the back of the solar assembly (A).
- Connect the installed pole connector (B) on the solar assembly (A) to the pole (C).
- Your solar light is equipped with a 3-way selector (FLASHING, OFF, ON) on the back of the solar assembly (A). Prior to use, set the selector to the FLASHING or ON position and allow it to charge for a full sunny day.
Note: Do not use a hammer. If the ground is hard, use water to soften.
2. Installing the Solar Box to the Wall
Diagram Description: Illustrates mounting the solar assembly (A) to a wall surface using screws (AA) and wall anchors (BB).
- If mounting to a wood surface, drill two 3/32 in. holes into the mounting surface. Insert the mounting screws (AA) into the holes, leaving about 1/4 in. of the screws (AA) sticking out of the wood surface.
- If mounting to a wall board or brick walls, drill two 7/32 in. holes into the wall surface and insert the wall anchors (BB). Insert the mounting screws (AA) into the anchors (BB), leaving about 1/4 in. of the screws (AA) sticking out of the wall surface.
- Align and place the two mounting slots on the side of the solar assembly (A) over the mounting screws (AA), slide down to secure it in position.
- Your solar light is equipped with a 3-way selector (FLASHING, OFF, ON) on the back of the solar assembly (A). Prior to use, set the selector to the FLASHING or ON position and allow it to charge for a full sunny day.
Maintenance
Replacing the Battery
Diagram Description: Shows the rear of the solar assembly (A) with the battery compartment lid (F) secured by screws (G), and the battery (E) inside.
- IMPORTANT: Dispose of the battery in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- IMPORTANT: When storing any solar product for an extended period of time, remove the batteries. Storing any solar product without regular recharge or removal of batteries could cause permanent damage to the rechargeable batteries.
- Note: Use one AA-size, 600mAh, 1.2V nickel-metal hydride rechargeable battery. For best performance, replace with a nickel-metal hydride rechargeable battery annually.
- Unscrew the battery compartment lid (F) from the back of the solar assembly (A) and remove it.
- Remove the old batteries (E). Replace with one new AA size, 1.2V Nickel Metal Hydride rechargeable battery. The recommended replacement battery capacity should be 600mAh or above.
- Replace the battery compartment lid (F) with the two screws (G).
Care and Cleaning
- The solar panel should be cleaned periodically with a damp cloth to help maintain optimum performance.
- Do not use any cleaners with chemicals, solvents, or harsh abrasives.
Troubleshooting
Diagram Description: A table outlines common issues, their potential causes, and recommended solutions.
Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
The nightly run time is short. | The battery is not fully charged. | Ensure that the solar light is located in an area where it can receive the maximum amount of full, direct sunlight every day. Keeping the solar panel clean is equally important to ensure the maximum charging performance. |
The battery is reaching the end of its useful life. | Replace the old battery with a new AA size, 600mAh, 1.2V Nickel Metal Hydride rechargeable battery. | |
The solar light does not turn on at night. | The solar light is set to OFF. | Your solar light is equipped with a 3-way selector (FLASHING, OFF, ON) on the back of the solar assembly. The selector must be set to FLASHING or ON prior to use. |
The solar light is installed close to other light sources, which may keep the solar light from turning on at night automatically. | Relocate the fixture or eliminate other light sources. |
