GROHE Blue® Filter Cartridge
Application
The GROHE Blue® filter cartridge reduces carbonate hardness and filters heavy metals such as lead and copper. It also reduces cloudiness, organic impurities, and substances that affect odour and taste (chlorine). The filter material captures particles like sand and suspended solids. The filtered water is classified as Category 2 according to EN 1717.
Safety Information
- The filter system must only be operated with cold, food-grade water.
- The filter head is equipped with a non-return valve compliant with EN 13959.
- Protect the filter system from mechanical damage, heat, and direct sunlight at the installation site. Do not install near heat sources or open flames.
- After storage or transport below 0°C, a replacement filter cartridge must be acclimatized in its opened original packaging for at least 24 hours at ambient temperatures between 4°C and 40°C before use.
- The maximum shelf life of a replacement filter cartridge in unopened packaging is 2 years.
- The filter head must be replaced after 5 years.
- If an official authority (e.g., water supplier) mandates boiling tap water, the filter system must be taken out of service. The filter cartridge must be replaced once the boiling requirement is lifted.
- The filter material is specially treated with silver. A small, safe amount of silver may be released into the water, which complies with WHO recommendations for drinking water.
- It is generally recommended to boil tap water for certain groups (e.g., immunocompromised individuals, babies), which also applies to filtered water.
- Filtered water is a foodstuff and must be used within 1 to 2 days.
- GROHE recommends not leaving the filter system out of service for extended periods.
Filter Cartridge Flushing
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene during commissioning and filter replacement. The filter system must be flushed after every filter change.
For filter size settings, refer to the technical product information for the cooler or control unit. The GROHE Blue® system is factory-set for the S-Size filter cartridge (40 404). If using a different cartridge, adjust the system accordingly.
For carbonate hardness settings, refer to the technical product information for the cooler or control unit. Information on carbonate hardness can be obtained from the local water supplier. The GROHE Blue® system is factory-set to the standard value (bypass 2) for carbonate hardness (7-24°dKH). Adjustments may be necessary if deviations occur.
To reset filter capacity, see the technical product information for the cooler or control unit. The GROHE Blue® system must be reset after each filter change.
For issues, consult a qualified installer or contact the GROHE Service Hotline via email at TechnicalSupport-HQ@grohe.com.
Filter Capacity and Usage
If the GROHE Blue® filter system has not been used, it must be flushed according to the following table before re-use:
Filter | 2 days - 4 weeks |
---|---|
S (40 404) | 2 - 3 Liters |
M (40 430) | 4 - 5 Liters |
Ac (40 547) | 4 - 5 Liters |
Mg+Zn (40 691) | 4 - 5 Liters |
L (40 412) | 6 - 7 Liters |
If the GROHE Blue® filter system is not used for more than 4 weeks, the filter cartridge must be replaced.
