Equipment Description and Specific Conditions of Use
Equipment Description:
The equipment consists of rotating electrical machines (three-phase induction motors) designed in type of protection Flameproof Enclosure "db". They are equipped with separately certified terminal boxes in type of protection Increased Safety "eb" for use in hazardous gas atmospheres. For hazardous dust atmospheres, the machines can be in type of protection Protection by Enclosure "tb" for zone 21 or "tc" for zone 22, with terminal boxes compliant to "tb" or "tc" levels.
The machine housing, end shield, and bearing caps are made of cast iron. The rotor is made of steel. Non-metallic gamma rings or radial shaft sealings are used. Cooling is achieved by an external fan made of steel, aluminum, brass, or plastic, driven by the machine itself.
Optional features include space heaters inside the stator housing (operation allowed only when the machine is not running) and certified encoders.
Specific Conditions of Use (SCU):
- Flameproof joint dimensions (lengths and gaps) may differ from standard table values; contact manufacturer for details.
- Screws must have a yield strength of 450 N/mm² or better.
- For non-self-cooled machines, forced cooling must be ensured, or the machine must be monitored by installed temperature sensors with a suitable trigger unit.
- The machine must be operated with a voltage source converter with pulse width modulation (PWM) regarding electrical parameters.
- Ensure no inadmissible overvoltage from converter supply occurs at motor terminals before setup.
- Maximum permissible peak voltages: 1500Vpk (standard), 2200Vpk (optional).
- Motor variants with temperatures above 70°C at cable glands and 80°C at wire branching are marked with an additional label.
