Before You Start
Ensure your smartphone has the latest operating system updates and the latest version of the Smartair2 app is installed. If the app was previously installed, uninstall and reinstall it to ensure compatibility with current security protocols. Older devices (iPhone 6 or older, Android version 7 or older) may not be compatible with the app.

The system connects your air conditioner via a Wi-Fi module to the internet through your home network.
Connection Steps
1. App Setup: Set up your account on the app. Keep your password secure as it may be needed for future app updates.
2. Wall Controller Units: For Wall Controller Units, turn off the mains power to the air conditioner (usually via an isolation switch near the outdoor unit). Wait 2-3 minutes, then turn it back on. Activate the wall control and set it to low fan speed and cooling at 30 degrees Celsius.
3. Add Air Conditioner: Start the app and add an air conditioner. Continue pressing 'Next' until prompted to look for Wi-Fi in your phone's settings.
4. Phone Wi-Fi Settings: Navigate to your phone's settings and select Wi-Fi. Search for available Wi-Fi routers. The air conditioner's Wi-Fi network should appear as 'U-AC####'.
5. Connect to AC Wi-Fi: Connect to the AC Wi-Fi network. You may see a warning that it has no internet connection; this is normal and can be ignored.
6. Return to App: Go back to the Smart Air app and tap 'Already Connected'.
7. Connect to Home Wi-Fi: Add your home router's Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. The router password is typically found on the bottom or back of the router.
8. Apple Devices: For Apple phones, verify your home router is connected in your phone's Wi-Fi settings. If not, connect to it. Then, return to the Smart Air 2 app.
The connection process may take a minute or so.

Network Configuration Tips
Mobile Data: Prior to setup, go to Settings > Mobile > Mobile Data and turn it OFF on your smart device to ensure it uses Wi-Fi for pairing.
2.4GHz Band Preference: The app prefers the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band. If your router uses band steering, ensure it is set to 2.4GHz manually if connection issues arise.
Maximise Compatibility: When using a smartphone's hotspot, ensure 'Maximise Compatibility' is turned ON in the hotspot settings. Note: Internet performance may be reduced for devices connected to the hotspot when this feature is enabled.
Pairing Process
Once the app is downloaded, press the plus (+) symbol to begin the pairing process.
Select 'Air Conditioner' from the device list and press 'Start adding'.
Installation and Power
If a Wi-Fi dongle needs to be fitted, this requires technical work by an installing contractor. Power must be isolated before this is done. Once the dongle is connected, restore power and press 'Next'. Ensure the indoor unit model number is recorded at this time.
Unit Operation
For YR-E16A OR 16B WALL CONTROL: Turn the unit on. If you have a ducted unit, ensure the wall control is turned on, then press 'Next'.
For YR-E17 OR 17A WALL CONTROL: Ensure the unit is set to cool, with a low fan speed (select the lowest speed if multiple low speeds are available) and a temperature set point of 30°C. Then press 'Next'.
Connecting to Home Network
Go to your smart device's settings, then Wi-Fi. Look for the unique AC Wi-Fi code (e.g., 'U-ACxxxx' or 'Haier-UAC') and select it. Return to the app and press 'Already connected'.
Next, select your own Wi-Fi network from the list and press 'Next'.
Enter your Wi-Fi network password and press 'Next'.
The device will then begin configuration. A screen showing 'Device configuration' with a timer may appear.
You might see a screen indicating 'Your phone and device are not in the same WIFI, please change network setting'. This is normal and requires no action.
Connection Successful
Once the connection is successful, a 'Connection successful' screen will appear. Select your city, then your state, and then your city. You can also select or change the room name if needed. Press 'Save'.
The app will then display the paired device, indicating successful pairing. Press the AC icon to control the unit.
You can now control your AC unit from your smart device.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot find AC Wi-Fi signal: Reset the power and retry the sync process. The Wi-Fi unit typically has a flashing light when searching for a device. F series and Dawn units may show a Wi-Fi symbol on the display; Tempo units have a Wi-Fi light. After 10 minutes, the unit stops searching, and power must be reset.
- Wi-Fi light not flashing: The unit may not be connected correctly or is faulty. Contact the installer to check the module installation.
- Ducted AC Systems: Installers must mount the Wi-Fi unit outside the control box and verify the Wi-Fi light is flashing. Units with no light or display may require an authorized technician.
- Connection failure after entering home Wi-Fi password: This could be due to slow internet or high traffic to Haier servers. Wait a few hours and try again.
Other Information
- Forgotten Password: Click the 'Forgotten Password' link in the app. If a new password is not accepted, the app may be outdated and require an update.
- Persistent Errors: If errors persist after entering the home Wi-Fi password, uninstall and reinstall the app. If issues continue, provide your account email to Haier support (haieraircon@fisherpaykel.com) so the Haier U-Home team can investigate.
