Salter Personal Scales - Instructions and Guarantee
This document provides comprehensive instructions and guarantee information for Salter Personal Scales, including the Salter Splash model. It details how to set up, operate, and care for your scale, along with troubleshooting tips and warranty details.
Getting Started
Preparing Your Scale:
- Open the battery compartment on the underside of the scale.
- Remove the isolating tab or insert batteries, observing polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment.
- Select your preferred weight unit (kg, st, or lb) using the switch on the underside.
- For carpeted or uneven floors, separate carpet feet are available at www.salterhousewares.co.uk.
Initialising Your Scale:
- Press the center of the platform and remove your foot.
- '0.0' will be displayed.
- The scale will switch off and is now ready for use.
This initialisation process must be repeated if the scale is moved. Otherwise, simply step directly onto the scale.
Operating Your Scale
- Step on the scale and stand still while your weight is computed.
- Your weight will be displayed.
- Step off. Your weight will be displayed for a few seconds.
- The scale will switch off automatically.
Warning Indicators
- O-Ld: Weight exceeds maximum capacity.
- Lo: Replace battery.
- Err: Unstable weight. Stand still.
- C: Incorrect zero. Position scale on a firm flat surface and repeat weight reading.
Advice for Use and Care
- Always weigh yourself on the same scale placed on the same floor surface.
- Do not compare weight readings from different scales due to manufacturing tolerances.
- Place your scale on a hard, even floor for greatest accuracy and repeatability.
- Weigh yourself at the same time each day, before meals and without footwear. First thing in the morning is ideal.
- The scale rounds to the nearest increment. If you get two different readings, your weight is between them.
- Clean your scale with a damp cloth. Do not use chemical cleaning agents.
- Do not allow the scale to become saturated with water, as this can damage electronics.
- The removable silicon cover can be washed in warm soapy water or in a dishwasher (up to 65°C). Ensure it is fully dry before replacing.
- Treat your scale with care; it is a precision instrument. Do not drop it or jump on it.
- Caution: The platform may become slippery when wet.
Troubleshooting Guide
- Check battery installation and polarity.
- Ensure the correct weight unit (kg, st, lb) is selected.
- Verify the scale is on a flat, level surface, not touching a wall.
- Repeat the initialisation process if the scale has been moved.
- If the display is blank or shows 'Lo', try a new battery.
- If 'O-Ld' is displayed, the scale has been overloaded.
