Coleman Skydome XL Tent Setup Instructions
Before You Begin
- Read all instructions before setup.
- Set up the tent prior to your first camping trip to become familiar with the setup and disassembly procedures.
- Select a level site clear of rocks, branches, and other hard or sharp objects to install your tent.
- WARNING: Keep clear of overhead power lines.
- Do not set up your tent under trees due to potential lightning strikes or falling tree limbs in inclement weather.
- NOTICE: Secure the product with all ground stakes, guylines, and rainfly attachments for optimal performance and to prevent property damage or personal injury.
- For best results in windy conditions, position the narrow end of the tent into the wind.
- Two people are recommended for setup.
Things You Should Know
- Condensation is normal and IS NOT LEAKAGE. It can be minimized by providing good ventilation.
- Tree limbs, tree sap, bird droppings, or moisture steadily dripping off tree limbs can cause damage to the tent fabric and its coating.
- Do not store tents without drying them thoroughly and brushing off caked dirt.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Stakes should be removed by pulling on the stake itself. NEVER PULL ON THE TENT TO REMOVE STAKES AS THIS COULD RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY.
- Prolonged exposure to the sun can seriously damage material and/or cause it to become discolored.
WARNING: KEEP ALL FLAME AND HEAT SOURCES AWAY FROM THIS TENT FABRIC.
This tent meets the flammability requirements of CPAI-84. The fabric may burn if left in continuous contact with any flame source. The application of any foreign substance to the tent fabric may render the flame-resistant properties ineffective.

Pole List
A. Main Body Pole (black) x 2
B. Side Pole (gray) x 2
C. Brow Pole (red) x 2
NOTE: Body poles and Side poles are pre-attached on the tent.
The tent structure consists of three sets of poles: two main body poles (A) that form the primary arch, two side poles (B) that provide stability at the sides, and two brow poles (C) that create an overhang at the front.
How to Pack
- Unzip doors and windows to let air escape.
- Fold the rainfly and tent to the length of the poles.
- Use the poles to roll the folded rainfly and tent tightly towards the door.
- Place the rolled tent into the carry bag.
How to Set Up and Disassemble
-
Extend Pre-Attached Poles
Unfold the tent and extend the pre-attached poles (A, B) into their full length. The poles are typically color-coded to match corresponding grommets or pockets on the tent fabric. Ensure poles are fully extended and connected.
A diagram shows the tent poles being extended from a collapsed state to their assembled shape, with a close-up of a stake being inserted into the ground.
-
Connect Poles to Tent
Insert the ends of the poles into the designated pockets or grommets on the tent. Match the pole colors (e.g., black poles to black grommets, gray poles to gray grommets) to ensure correct placement. The brow pole (C) is inserted into specific clips or sleeves on the rainfly or tent body.
Diagrams illustrate inserting pole ends into fabric pockets and attaching poles to the tent structure using clips.
-
Attach Rainfly
Drape the rainfly over the tent structure. Match the color-coded corners of the rainfly (e.g., red corner on rainfly to red corner on tent) to the corresponding corners of the tent. Secure the rainfly using the provided S-hooks or clips that attach to the tent's D-rings or loops.
A diagram shows the rainfly being placed over the tent, with close-ups of color-coded corners and S-hooks connecting the rainfly to the tent's D-rings.
-
Complete Stake Down and Guy Out Tent
Insert stakes into the ground through the loops at the base of the tent and at the ends of the guylines. Use guylines to secure the tent and provide stability, especially in windy conditions. Adjust guylines for optimal tension.
Diagrams show stakes being hammered into the ground at the tent's base and guylines being attached and tensioned.
-
Disassembly
To take down the tent, follow the setup steps in reverse order. Carefully remove stakes, detach poles, remove the rainfly, and fold the tent and rainfly. Store all components in the carry bag.
A diagram illustrates the disassembly process, showing the reverse of the setup steps.
