Schneider Electric SpaceLogic KNX Blind Actuator REG-K/8x/10 with Manual Mode
Operating Instructions
Product Overview
The SpaceLogic KNX Blind Actuator REG-K/8x/10 with manual mode (referred to as the actuator) can control up to eight blind/roller shutter drives independently. It supports manual operation for testing and control during bus failures.
The actuator is installed on a DIN rail and connects via a bus connecting terminal. A data rail is not required.
The actuator can operate in three modes:
- Bus and mains supply: Standard mode where the actuator is powered by both bus and mains voltages.
- Bus supply only: Actuator operates in bus mode, allowing manual operation but potentially with slight delays for functions like relay switching or slat adjustment.
- Mains supply only: Manual operation only, where loads can be controlled directly using channel keys without bus communication.
Connections, Displays and Operating Elements
The actuator features:
- Mains connection: Two terminals for N and L cables (looping possible).
- Bus connecting terminal: For KNX connection.
- Programming button and LED (red): For device programming.
- Operating LED "RUN" (green): Indicates the device is ready for operation.
- Manual operation LED "Manual" (red): Indicates manual operation is active.
- Manual operation key: To switch between manual and bus operation.
- Channel terminals: For load voltage connections.
- Channel keys: For manual control of corresponding channels.
- Channel status LEDs (yellow): Indicate channel activity during movement.
For Your Safety
DANGER: HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
Safe electrical installation must be performed by skilled professionals with expertise in:
- Connecting to installation networks
- Connecting several electrical devices
- Laying electric cables
- Connecting and establishing KNX networks
- Safety standards, local wiring rules, and regulations
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death or serious injury.
DANGER: RISK OF FATAL INJURY FROM ELECTRIC SHOCK
The output may carry electrical current even when the load is switched off. Always disconnect the device from the supply via the fuse in the incoming circuit before working on it. Even with the manual switch in the "OFF" position, a KNX telegram can activate connections. Always disconnect the fuse in the incoming circuit before working on the device.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION: The device may be damaged!
- Operate the product according to specified technical data.
- Connect only one motor per channel.
- Install devices with at least basic insulation next to the device.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
Putting the Actuator into Operation
- Press the programming button. The programming LED lights up.
- Load the physical address and application from the ETS. The programming LED goes out.
- The operating LED lights up, indicating successful application loading and readiness for operation.
Manual Operation
Manual operation allows control of blinds/roller shutters using channel keys, even without ETS programming or during bus failures. Mains or bus voltage must be present, and the ETS parameter "Manual operation enabled" must be set to "enabled".
Manual operation before downloading the application
Allows testing of drives immediately after installation.
Manual operation with ETS setting "Bus and manual operation"
The actuator responds to both manual keys and KNX telegrams. The last received command has priority, except for safety alarms (e.g., weather alarms), which always take priority.
Manual operation with ETS setting "Manual operation only"
The actuator does not respond to KNX telegrams or safety alarms. This is useful for maintenance.
CAUTION: Loads could be damaged.
In "Manual operation only" mode, prioritized safety functions (e.g., weather alarm, priority control) are disabled. Exercise extreme caution during manual operation to prevent damage. Ensure the ETS parameter "Manual operating mode" is set to "Bus and manual operation" when handing over the system.
Time-limited manual operation can be configured in ETS, after which the actuator automatically reverts to responding to KNX telegrams.
Changing to Manual Operation
Press the manual operation key. The red manual operation LED lights up. The actuator is now in manual operation.
- The green operating LED goes out if "Manual operation only" is set in ETS.
- The green operating LED remains on if "Bus and manual operation" is set in ETS.
Controlling the Blind/Roller Shutter in Manual Operation
WARNING: Blinds/roller shutters can cause injury when they are moving.
Ensure no people are in the range of movement when operating channel keys.
- To raise or lower the blind: Press the corresponding channel key.
- To halt movement: Press the channel key again.
- The corresponding channel status LED (yellow) lights up during movement.
Exiting Manual Operation
Press the manual operation key again. The red manual operation LED goes out, and the green operating LED lights up. The actuator now only responds to KNX telegrams.
What Should I Do If There Is a Problem?
Red manual operation LED and green operating LED are not lit. Manual operation cannot be activated.
- Cause: Bus and mains voltage have failed. Solution: Check both power supplies.
Green operating LED is not lit.
- Cause: Bus voltage has failed. Solution: Check bus voltage; only manual operation is possible.
- Cause: Application was not loaded properly. Solution: Load the application again.
Red manual operation LED is lit: Manual operation is active and "Manual operation only" is set in ETS. Only manual operation is possible. There is no fault.
Solution: Switch off manual operation.
Actuator does not react to the manual operation key, the red manual operation LED does not light up, manual operation is not possible.
- Cause: ETS parameter "Manual operation enabled" is set to "blocked". Solution: Set the parameter to "Enabled/enable".
- Cause: "Manual operation enabled" is blocked by an object (value=0). Solution: Enable manual operation via object.
In manual operation, the actuator does not react to the activation of the channel keys, the red manual operation LED lights up, manual mode is not possible.
- Cause: The green operating LED is still lit: ETS parameter "Manual operation mode" is set to "Bus and manual operation", and a prioritised function (e.g., weather alarm or lock) is activated. Solution: Wait for the higher-level function to complete, or switch the ETS parameter "Manual operation type" to "Manual operation only".
- Cause: The green operating LED is not lit: Bus voltage has failed and the ETS parameter "Manual operation when bus voltage fails" has been "blocked". Solution: Check the bus voltage.
In manual operation, the actuator controls connected loads without a channel key being pressed.
- Cause: The ETS parameter "Manual operating mode" is set to "Bus and manual operation". The control command for the actuator came via a KNX telegram. There is no fault.
