For Your Safety

⚠️ DANGER

Risk of serious damage to property and personal injury, e.g. from fire or electric shock, due to incorrect electrical installation. Safe electrical installation can only be ensured if the person in question can prove basic knowledge in the following areas:

These skills and experience are normally only possessed by skilled professionals trained in electrical installation technology. Failure to meet or disregard these minimum requirements makes you solely liable for any damage to property or personal injury.

Getting to Know the Energy Meter

The KNX Energy Meter, REG-K/3x230 V/16 A (referred to below as Energy Meter) enables monitoring and measurement of energy on connected channels, thereby increasing building energy efficiency.

Device Properties

Important: Never use the device in combination with current transformers.

Connections, Displays, and Operating Elements

The device features the following:

Diagram Description: A visual representation of the device showing the location of the bus connection (A), protective cap (B), programming button/LED (C), RUN LED (D), channel LEDs (E), and connecting terminals (F).

Mounting the Energy Meter

❗ WARNING

Risk of death from electric shock. The device can be damaged. Safety clearance must be guaranteed in accordance with IEC 60664-1. There must be at least 4 mm between the individual cores of the 230 V supply cable and the KNX line A.

  1. Place the device onto the DIN rail.
  2. Wire the device according to the desired application.

Diagram Description: Illustrates the device being mounted on a DIN rail and shows the required 4mm clearance between the 230V supply cable and the KNX line.

Note: Any number of loads can be connected to an input as long as the maximum input current of 16 A per channel is not exceeded. Any phases can be assigned to channels 1-3.

Putting the Energy Meter into Operation

  1. Press the programming button: the programming LED lights up.
  2. Load the physical address and application into the device from the ETS: The programming LED goes out.

The RUN LED lights up, indicating the application has been loaded successfully and the device is ready for operation.

Status LED Indicators

Status LED (red/green)Programming LED (red)RUN LED (green)Indication
ON-The physical address can be loaded
OFFONApplication loaded and bus voltage connected
Flashes greenONMeasurement being performed
OFFOFFNo bus voltage
OFFONMains voltage absent
Flashes redONOverload

Behaviour in the Event of Problems

Mains Voltage Failure

No measurement can be performed on any input channels, and the status signal is unavailable. Communication via the bus is still possible.

Bus Failure (with Voltage Connected)

If a bus failure occurs, measurement stops immediately, and no further information is recorded. The RUN LED switches off.

Bus Connection Restored (with Voltage Connected)

The consumption value saved in the internal memory prior to the bus failure will be used as the starting point for power measurement once the bus connection is restored.
