Installation Steps
Location Advice
General Recommendations: Install several Smart Smoke Alarms for full home protection. Highly recommended in every bedroom, children's room, and hallway. For maximum protection, consider installing in the living room, attic, and basement.
Avoid False Triggers: Do not install the Smart Smoke Alarm:
- Near electronic ballasts, low voltage transformers, power-saving bulbs, or fluorescent tubes (maintain a minimum distance of 50 cm / 19.69 in).
- Near air vents.
- In excessively dusty rooms.
- Less than 6 m (236.22 in) from a fireplace or wood-burning stove.
- In rooms where cooking fumes or steam may trigger the alarm.
- In rooms where condensation or damp may occur.
Positioning:
Diagrams A and B illustrate minimum distance requirements for ceiling and wall mounting.
- Pick a spot on the ceiling, respecting minimum distances shown in Diagram A.
- If ceiling mounting is not possible, it may be fixed to the wall (except in Germany, where wall mounting may not comply with DIN 14676).
- For cathedral ceilings, respect minimum distances shown in Diagram B.
Wi-Fi Reception:
Illustration of a smartphone showing Wi-Fi signal.
- Check your smartphone for Wi-Fi reception at the chosen installation location.
- If reception is poor, try moving your Wi-Fi router closer.
- The alarm will detect smoke and sound even if Wi-Fi is not configured, but Wi-Fi is required for smartphone alerts when away from home.
- Wi-Fi configuration will be done later in the app.
Securing the Mount
Diagrams illustrate steps A-G for securing the mount.
- Following location recommendations, place the mount and mark the two fixing holes with a pencil.
- Drill the two holes.
- Insert anchors into the holes, then insert and tighten screws, leaving a 2 mm (0.08 in) gap below the heads.
- Align the mount holes with the screws on the ceiling.
- Slide the mount to the right.
- Turn the mount counterclockwise to the marked line.
- Finish tightening the two screws to secure the mount.
Powering On
Diagrams H and I show the final steps of installing and locking the alarm.
- Install the Smart Smoke Alarm on the mount by aligning the marks.
- Turn the Smart Smoke Alarm clockwise to lock the assembly.
Once locked, the red and blue LEDs will light up alternatively. After several seconds, the red LED will flash every 10 seconds to indicate correct operation.
