Powering On/Off

Power On: Press and hold the SCAN and DOWN buttons for 3 seconds.

Power Off: Press and hold the SCAN and DOWN buttons for 3 seconds again.

Basic Operation

1. Aim the KDC20 directly at the barcode. Press the SCAN button, ensuring the beam covers the barcode horizontally.
2. A successful scan will produce one beep and a green LED indicator. An unsuccessful scan will produce two beeps and a red LED indicator.

Bluetooth Profiles Explained

The KDC20 supports several Bluetooth profiles for connecting to host devices:

• HID Normal: Enables one-way Bluetooth communication with Android, Mac, and Windows host devices. The KDC20 transmits data to the host.
• SPP: Allows two-way Bluetooth communication. The KDC20 transmits data to the host, and the host can transmit data back to the KDC20.
• HID iOS: Enables one-way Bluetooth communication with iOS host devices. The KDC20 transmits data to the iOS host.
• MFi: Allows two-way Bluetooth communication with iOS host devices. The KDC20 transmits data to an iOS host, and the iOS host can transmit data back to the KDC20.

HID profile inputs data directly into an application. Both SPP and MFi profiles require the KOAMTAC KTSync® app or integration of the KOAMTAC SDK to input data into an application.

Pairing & Connecting

1. Navigate to the Bluetooth settings on your host PC, Mac, Smartphone, or Tablet.
2. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the host device and it is set to search for devices.
3. Scan the pairing barcode that corresponds to your desired Bluetooth profile. Refer to the "Pairing Barcodes" section for guidance.
4. Check the list of available Bluetooth devices on your host device.
5. Select "KDC20" from the list, matching the serial number displayed in brackets to the serial number found on the back of your KDC20.
6. In HID mode, the KDC20 is now ready to use.
7. To complete connection in SPP/MFi mode, launch the KTSync app or your custom application and select the KDC20.

The KDC20 will beep upon successful connection.

Using Keyboard Wedge

The Keyboard Wedge feature allows your KDC20 to function as a keyboard. The HID profile enables this functionality by default. For SPP or MFi profiles, KTSync provides a keyboard wedge function when KTSync keyboard is enabled. Refer to the KDC Reference Manual for detailed instructions.

1. Ensure the KDC20 is connected to the host using the HID profile, or via KTSync keyboard using SPP/MFi profiles.
2. Open any application on the host device that has a text field you wish to populate.
3. Tap the text field within the application.
4. Scan any barcode with the KDC20.
5. The scanned barcode data will populate the text field.

KTSync & SDK

KTSync® is a program that communicates with the KDC20 via Bluetooth, enabling users to read and store data. KTSync is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac. It also supports wedging and downloading data from the KDC20.

The Software Development Kit (SDK) is designed for creating custom applications to collect data using your KDC20. KDC20 Diagram

The KDC20 features the following components:

• Scan Window: The area through which the laser or CCD scanner emits light to read barcodes.
• Main Label: Displays the Model Name, Serial Number, and LED indicators.
• LED Indicator: Shows status through green, red, or orange lights.
• UP Button: Used for navigation, typically to move up or select options.
• SCAN Button: The primary button used to initiate barcode scanning.

Helpful Barcodes

Enable Auto Reconnect: Configures the KDC20 to automatically reconnect to the last paired device.

Disable Auto Reconnect: Disables the automatic reconnection feature.
