Dimensions: The dimensions shown in Fig. 1 are for both the 600mm and 900mm versions of the Tilta hood.

[Diagram: Fig. 1 - Shows installation dimensions for the 600mm and 900mm versions of the Tilta hood.]

Installation of kitchen ventilation over electrical and gas cooktops must comply with relevant NZ building standards.

Before installation, ensure the area is clean to prevent dust and debris from being sucked into the unit.

Exhaust Air: Exhaust air must not be discharged into an operating smoke or exhaust flue, or a shaft used for ventilating rooms with a fireplace. It must not share the flue of any other appliance.

Installation Check: After initial installation, check the unit is level to prevent grease collection.

Clearance Distances:

  • Above Gas Appliance: Minimum 75cm from the top of the cooking surface (comply with NZ standards).
  • Above Electric Appliance: Minimum 65cm from the top of the cooking surface (comply with NZ standards).
  • Follow hob manufacturer recommendations if a greater distance is specified.

Air discharge regulations must be adhered to, referring to relevant NZ standards.

These hoods can be used for recirculation with carbon filters available from Parmco Appliances.

Wall Fixing

  1. Drill two holes into the wall using dimensions from Fig. 1. Ensure screws are fixed into suitable material for the unit's load.
  2. Fix the two stirrups (see Fig. 2) securely in position.
  3. Place the stirrups into the special slots in the rear of the canopy.
  4. Loosely fix the stirrups to the canopy with the provided screws in holes A (Fig. 2).

[Diagram: Fig. 2 - Illustrates the wall fixing stirrups and their placement.]

A packer may be required depending on cabinetry depth and fascia panel depth.

Additional holes can be drilled through the rear of the unit to fix it to the packer if needed.

To adjust the bottom of the unit to the required depth, use the screws located on the underside as per Fig. 3.

[Diagram: Fig. 3 - Shows screws for adjusting the unit's bottom depth.]

Once correct height, depth, level, and plumb are achieved, ensure all fixing screws are fully tightened.

Panel Warning: Panel (A) is not designed for removal during installation. Removal may damage retaining lugs (B). Do not remove panel (A).

Fixing the Integrated Panel

Tilta units are designed to integrate into cabinetry using panels of various types and thicknesses.

  1. First, remove the aluminium mesh filter from the front of the unit.
  2. Locate the two fixing lugs on either side of the curved sliders (Fig. 5).

[Diagram: Fig. 5 - Shows the retaining lugs (F) and door assembly (E) for panel fixing.]

Push retaining lugs (F) up until removable. Remove lugs and gently lift the door assembly (E) upwards and outwards simultaneously.

To replace the door, reverse this procedure, ensuring lugs are correctly seated with the curved portion facing outwards.

Caution: Extreme care is needed when replacing lugs to ensure correct fitting and orientation. Incorrect fitting may cause the door to become loose.

Fixing Fascia Panel to Door Assembly

Mount the desired panel to the door using self-tapping screws as per the dimensions in Fig. 6.

[Diagram: Fig. 6 - Shows dimensions for mounting a fascia panel to the door assembly.]

Remount the door assembly into the unit, ensuring locking lugs are correctly positioned and orientated.

Operating Instructions

The Tilta units can have fan speed and lighting preset for automatic operation when the front cover is extended. Manual operation is also possible with the front cover extended. The units will not operate when closed.

Controls:

  • A: Three speed power switch
  • B: Power light indicator
  • C: Lighting switch

The units operate on 3 speed levels: Level I (lowest) to Level III (highest).

Regular cleaning of filters ensures better performance and longer appliance life. The lighting switch can be operated independently of the motor for ambient light.

Care and Maintenance

When performing maintenance and cleaning, ensure the unit is turned off and disconnected from the socket.

Vapours and odours are exhausted through the aluminium grease filter and carbon filter (if fitted). Filter condition and cleanliness affect appliance efficiency.

Aluminium Grease Filters

Wash filters every 10-15 days, depending on cooking type. High oil content cooking requires more frequent cleaning.

Dip filters in warm soapy water, soak for 10 minutes, then gently scrub to remove residues.

Filters can be washed in a dishwasher with a low caustic detergent. High caustic detergents may discolour filters and cause premature failure.

Carbon Filters

These filters contain activated carbon and cannot be cleaned. Replace them based on hood usage and cooking type. High odour and high oil content cooking will require more frequent replacement.

LED Spotlight Replacement

  • To replace the spotlight, disconnect the cable (A) and press the side springs (B).
  • Replace with a new LED spotlight [12 Volt - 1.3watt - Ø67].

[Diagram: Shows LED spotlight with labels A (cable) and B (springs).]

Electrical Connection

Ensure supply voltage ratings are compatible with those stated on the appliance data label.

The appliance is fitted with an AS/NZS rated 3-pin plug and can be connected to a suitable socket that matches the appliance data label's voltage ratings.

Important: If hardwiring for a fixed installation, use a suitable cut-off device for omnipolar disconnection of the mains. The contact cut-off distance must be at least 3mm.

Installation must comply fully with the Electrical Standards requirements of New Zealand.
