Install Teseo-Suite and VCP Driver

The Teseo-Suite, version 6.3.x, is a powerful PC tool designed to manage the EVB-T5 evaluation board.

The Teseo-Suite software allows users to manage, configure, and evaluate the performance of Teseo GNSS family products. It supports multiple GNSS tracers, firmware configuration, NMEA sentence logging, and analysis.

Connect and Start EVB-T5

Follow these steps to connect and start the EVB-T5:

  1. Connect the USB cable between the PC USB port and the EVB-T5 UART port.
  2. Connect the GNSS Antenna to the SMA input connector.
  3. Press the Power-on button.
  4. Verify that the RED Power LED is ON.

A diagram illustrates these connection steps, showing a PC, USB cable, antenna, and the EVB-T5 board with numbered indicators for each step.

Program the EVB-T5 [1/2]

To program the EVB-T5:

  1. In the Teseo-Suite menu, select the Tools items.
  2. Select 'T5 X-Loader'.

A screenshot shows the Teseo-Suite application menu with the 'Tools' dropdown open, highlighting the 'T5 X-Loader' option.

Program the EVB-T5 [2/2]

Continue programming the EVB-T5 by following these steps:

  1. Configure the COM port and the baud rate.
  2. Select the T5 binary file.
  3. Enable and select the T5 patch file.
  4. Push and maintain the 'BOOT' button on the EVB-T5.
  5. Push the 'RESET' button on the EVB-T5.
  6. Push 'Start'.

The process involves using the 'STA8100/STA9100 loader' window to set up the COM port, baud rate, and select firmware/patch files before initiating the programming sequence.

Firmware based on usage case

The Teseo V (STA8100GA) is available with two different firmware types:

  • Measurement Engine Firmware (ME firmware): This firmware provides raw measurement data to support an RTL-PPP algorithm running on an external MCU.
  • Autonomous PVT (DF_PVT): This firmware provides a complete dual-band L1&L5 autonomous PVT (Position, Velocity, Time) solution.

The TeseoAPP (STA9100) is available with only the ME firmware. Both TeseoV and TeseoAPP firmwares are highly configurable, and several patches are provided to select predefined scenarios for customer use.

Firmware and patch naming convention

Understanding the naming conventions helps in identifying firmware and patch details:

Firmware Name Convention:

Example: STA8100_BA_5_8_12_DF_PVT_RC_BOOT

  • STA8100 indicates TeseoV, while STA9100 indicates TeseoAPP.
  • BA denotes Cut 2.0, and Bx denotes Cut 2.1.
  • RC signifies a Release Candidate, and BETA indicates a Beta Release.
  • [ ] denotes Measurement engine firmware, and DF_PVT denotes Autonomous PVT dual-band.

Patch Name Convention:

Example: GNSS@10Hz-RTCM3-DON_scenario_0

  • 1Hz or 10Hz indicates the epoch rate.
  • RTCM3 means RTCMv3 protocol is enabled on the main UART, while NMEA means NMEA protocol is enabled on the main UART.
  • Scenario refers to ME scenario identification, and DualFreqPVTConfig refers to PVT configuration.
  • [ ] indicates Debug disabled, and DON indicates Debug-ON enabled on the secondary UART.

Teseo Suite - Start

When the Teseo-Suite application starts:
