Instructions / Assembly for Neoprene Rubber Seal Strip
1. Preparation
- Tools Required: Scissors, utility knife, measuring tape, marker, adhesive (optional).
- Surface Cleanliness: Ensure the installation area is dry, dust-free, and oil-free for optimal adhesion.
2. Measure & Cut
- Determine Length: Measure the area where the strip will be applied (e.g., door frame, pipe joint).
- Mark & Trim: Use a marker to mark the desired length on the strip. Cut with scissors or a sharp knife. For curves, score the backside gently to maintain flexibility.
3. Installation
Adhesive-Free Application:
- Press the strip into place (e.g., weather stripping gaps, machinery seals).
- Secure with staples, clips, or mechanical fasteners if movement is expected.
With Adhesive:
- Apply rubber-compatible adhesive to the surface.
- Press the strip firmly onto the adhesive, ensuring full contact.
4. Shaping for Specific Uses
- Gaskets: Cut the strip to fit between two surfaces (e.g., engine parts). Overlap ends slightly for a continuous seal.
- Floor Protection: Trim to cover edges or high-traffic areas. Use multiple strips for larger spaces, overlapping seams by 1/2 inch.
- Pipe Sealing: Wrap the strip around pipes, overlapping edges by 1/4 inch. Secure with hose clamps for pressure applications.
5. Final Checks
- Verify Fit: Ensure the strip is taut, without gaps or wrinkles.
- Test Function: Check seals for leaks (water/oil) or vibrations (soundproofing).
- Trim Excess: Use a knife to remove any overhanging material.
